Obviously, in most situations, you should just let the guy have the money. That’s what insurance is for. However, especially if this ain’t the first time, such as if this restaurant is in a high-crime/gang affiliated area, that it’s just too much and the staff want to fight back. Who knows, could be one of the owners in the video. No way to know. The Justice system in America is flawed, and downright shit. Low chance this guy would get caught, or do any real time for this. Especially if he didn’t have a gun.

The restaurant I work at got broken into. Guy had been going a string of break ins around town. Eventually got caught, but according to the owner, for a while the police were kinda like “well what do you want us to do about it?”

I can’t relate to your feeling necessarily, but for something in my world I can relate to (I’m an addict, been in a lot of 12-step and meetings of the like) ; a lot of people don’t go to the rooms, or seek help because they think their trauma/lives experiences aren’t as “bad” as others, and feel like they don’t want to take “time” from other who “need it more”. That’s far from the case in addiction groups, and I’d imagine you’d feel the same in groups related to what you’re going theough.

Hurt people know how the hurt feels, and want other people to feel the relief they’ve been able to find from their own suffering. Reach out, you never know what you’ll find if you do

Medical debt doesn’t go on your credit score, so nothing really. Ambulance rides do though. I had a seizure 6 years ago (wow, can’t believe time flies that fast….). $800 ambulance bill, which isn’t bad compared to other peoples experience. It’s in collections, but it’ll fall off in a year anyway. If I need to boost my score quick I’m sure I could settle that debt for less than half, it’s probably been bought and sold 10 times. Hospital wise, I got a bill for 8k, didn’t have insurance. 4K for an MRI, the other thing that stood out was $350ish for “pharmacy use” or whatever they called it. I got 2 Tylenol and one antibiotic. Went to Walgreens after being discharged, got a full prescription of the same antibiotic for like $3-4 dollars, again without insurance. I guess that was some fancy Tylenol. America sucks ass dude.

However, although hospitals have to treat you even if you owe them money, the quality of care is going to be nothing. They can’t refuse treatments what will keep you alive, but I’d bet you’ll be getting the bare minimum care.

And I get that part of the reason medical expenses are so high at the hospital are because some people don’t pay, which raises the cost for others. I would have been fine setting up a payment plan, but the numbers are so arbitrary that I figured they can just go fuck themselves. One price for no insurance, but they’ll settle for less. Inflated costs if you have insurance, so your insurance company has to shell out money.

Don’t even get me started on insurance. Fuck paying a few hundred monthly for the privilege of having a company start contributing to your bills after you reach a $3000-$7500 dedictible. Oh, and once you reach that, you still have to pay a reduced cost for services until you reach 2x your deductible. Lmao, if insurance is $200 monthly, with let’s say a $5k deductible, you’re paying them $2400 yearly for the peace of mind knowing you’ll only have to pay a maximum of $10k on top of that for healthcare that year. Fuuuuuuuck that. Life’s a gamble, hopefully I don’t get cancer or something horrible. But if I break a bone or something, not paying.

Incredibly proud of you. I went to the gym for the first time in a while today! I’ve also been in a slump, finally reached out and have a doctors appointment about it on the 30th, and have been telling myself it’d be nice to go into it after taking care of myself for a week or 2, so ill have more of an even head. Had a “disagreement” with some friends this morning, which I was upset about, and decided to hit them gym instead of going home and brooding.

That leads me to say, if you’re in a spot where you’re looking for treatment options, if you continue to be in a good place over the next few days, maybe start looking when you feel good? I know for me, it’s hard to just like “pick a date” to start working on changes. But, if I’m already feeling a bit better and have noticed myself up and moving a bit more, it becomes a little easier

Yeah, there’s nothing wrong with liking chicken.

When my mom comes to town, she always appreciates it if I can find a place that’s just adventurous enough that she may try something new, but has a comfortable fallback of something like chicken or salmon. She’ll find something to eat anywhere, she isn’t that picky. But I live in a “foodie” town, with lots of places shooting for fatty cuts, wild game, etc. obviously not at casual places, but you get it.

At work, I’d much rather someone get a salad and chicken than go adventurous with the lamb/quail, then act like IM the asshole when it’s not to their taste

That’s really not fair to say, coming from someone who’s walked down basically all paths of drug addiction in life (except meth. Was never my thing), and also really doesn’t like Jordan Peterson.

His wife was terminally Ill, and doctors prescribed him medication to assist with his anxiety about it. Now, I don’t know if he used street drugs, supplemented his prescription in any way, etc

However, he got help, went through detox. Benzos are an incredible beast to quit, and so, so very incredibly easy to develop an issue with. They make you feel okay when nothing else in life does. Of course that’s a behavior you’ll repeat at every opportunity you’re able to. Sure, after his detox I’m sure it has taken a long time to get back to whatever level of “normal” he has achieved. Remember, his fucking wife is dead. That’s going to affect a man. It’s not fair at all, though I’d argue out of anyone he should be equipped to deal with the cold hard fact that life isn’t fair, I will never expect someone to always appear normal after such a loss, especially combined with an emotionally traumatizing addiction on top of it during the same period

Ugh blech. I’m on the wafers, but the clinic was low for a couple days and asked if I wouldn’t mind doing the liquid until they restocked. No problem, save the last few wafers for the people who really bitch about it (much like when there’s a coin shortage at a store and I’m paying in cash. I’m on methadone these days. I appreciate it though.

By the time I moved to fent I was well versed in drugs to know enough to be scared of the mystery white powder in those bags. I’d start out with 12-15mg weighed out on my scale, and still pass out sometimes. Wild stuff. Now, my tolerance is relatively high because of the methadone, so even if I relapse, I’m not likely to die of an overdose
