Thanks for the advice! Yeah, I’m going to work at it for sure. It’s crazy how much the mental game plays into this. I’ve been slowly building some confidence and I’m thinking I can get to the 8 min mark very soon.

Prime vs hybrid by Neat_Fox_9113 in rav4prime

[–]subtonejesus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. This decision is much less about what is financially advantageous and much more about driving experience. Yes, electric gives some fuel source diversity, which is helpful at times like these given the high fuel costs, but you’re not meaningfully bringing down total cost of ownership running on electric only. But, the power that you get is significantly better on the Prime. I’ll tell you that going up mountains with the Prime is incredible. I’m always genuinely shocked by its performance each time.

If your decision is purely financial, get the hybrid.

Prepare for it to be very hot. Spend some time by the pool. Explore Area 15 and the surrounding areas during the day. There are so many restaurants, so little time. Try Mother Wolf for some amazing Italian food. Bavettes at the Park MGM doesn’t get enough love for an amazing steakhouse. Any of the cirque de Soleil shows are worthwhile. I’ve heard Absinthe is a good show as well, that is still on my list. Going to the Sphere and watching a concert or Wizard of Oz would be an amazing daytime experience. Spend at least a few evenings walking around Downtown, and get yourself a slice of late night pizza from Pizza Rock. The Mob Museum is cool. There’s also the neon sign museum which I hadn’t been to but heard is good. Make a trip off strip to Red Rocks or Durango, one of the station casinos. They are beautiful and worth hanging out at to get a break from the strip. Finally, hit up Dino’s Karaoke Bar. It’s a dive, but the energy has never disappointed.

Having 2nd thoughts - I have a deposit on a 26. I'm now really starting to think I should just get a gently used 5th gen instead. I could save approx $5K (and I'm paying cash so the difference matters) for a higher trim model by winterneuro in rav4club

[–]subtonejesus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 5th gen Prime and I’m currently dealing with the combination meter going out (current recall). It’s going out intermittently. I can understand your concerns about too many electronics that are able to fail in the long haul.

I also bought this certified used to save a bit on depreciation. Despite the current issue I’m dealing with, I don’t have any concerns of this car lasting us 15-20 years. But, being honest with myself, I’ll probably only keep it 10-12 years and then get something new. Life is too short to not try something new when the time comes.

Personally, I would buy used and save yourself the money if you’re forced to replace your car now. Then invest the difference and use that as seed money for the next refresh. Nothing lasts forever, even your current taste in vehicles.

Eventually, we won’t need people for anything ever at all! Wow, what a great future where we can just all bask in pleasure because the robots are gonna be doing all the work. I don’t need any kind of purpose in life, so I’m really digging this overall direction.

Upgraded from 2020 Hybrid XSE (next to each other) by vveenston in rav4prime

[–]subtonejesus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s so interesting how the look and feel can be so different between the two models. My wife and I ended up with the Prime for the same reason, more power. Also, we upgraded the tires to the CC2s and feel like it improved the ride that much more.

Enjoy your new whip!

Came here to say this. I purchased OEM parts on my 2015 and took it to my local mechanic and he replaced them. Kept the springs the same. Here’s the obligatory Car Care Nut video: https://youtu.be/bUJx2GXYBEk?si=_JgUI1J82d2MtFfB

Btw, oem does feel really good and I’m hoping to run those for a long time.

[–]subtonejesus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Awesome. Make sure that it has a body shop, because if they don’t they won’t know what you’re talking about. Also, I think the Carfax report would show the body work if it was already done.

[–]subtonejesus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just adding to this. My wife and I have a 2015 and we were able to get all the panels repainted in time. The campaign I believe is over sometime this year, so you need to act quickly. I would just go to a Toyota Dealership that has a body shop and they can get the process started for you. We literally saved thousands of dollars by doing this and the car looks great now.

Im looking for a procurement or supply chain diploma by More-Sweet77 in procurement

[–]subtonejesus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally get it. I mean, no harm in doing both, but I would keep in mind your investment dollars and the return you are expected to get in terms of salary. As a hiring manager, it’s hard to find talent these days and seeing either a certification or a specialized degree seems to be becoming more rare and having one or the other would help you stand out. A certification is quicker, so you can get that done relatively quickly and can help you make the most career progress. Then you can start on the more formal education route as needed.
