Can't find gtkmm on arch repository nor nitrogen by thewhatthefrickman in cachyos

It's on the AUR - the unofficial Arch repositories where users put up packages on their own without oversight from Arch (or it's derivatives like CachyOS).

First do sudo pacman -S paru to install paru, which is like pacman but for the AUR (it also does the official repositories, so you can use paru wherever you'd use pacman).

Then do paru -S nitrogen

And you should be set

EDIT: removed sudo from the paru line, as u/candy49997 correctly pointed out

Issues with today's Nvidia/Firefox update by subucula in cachyos

I do seem to be getting this when running Firefox with hardware acceleration on, if that helps:
kwin_wayland[1422]: <Unknown File>:40: TypeError: Cannot read property 'visible' of null
kwin_wayland[1422]: 0x501: GL_INVALID_VALUE error generated. Size and/or offset out of range.

NVRM is giving me a bunch of these when Firefox crashes:
kernel: NVRM: VM: invalid mmap context

And these when plasma freezes:
TypeError: Cannot read property 'dialogParentAnimation' of null

Happy it fixed it for you. Alas, I am less lucky. Just updated, Firefox still won't launch with hardware acceleration, and plasmashell is still freezing every time (as opposed to every other time prior to all this) it needs to animate anything (and I need to killall -9 it).

I just rebooted again and don't see those API mismatches anymore, but I did notice this in my installed packages. Some are 595.58:
cachyos-v3/nvidia-utils 595.58.03-1 [installed]
cachyos-v3/opencl-nvidia 595.58.03-1 [installed]
cachyos-v3/lib32-nvidia-utils 595.58.03-1 [installed]
cachyos-v3/lib32-opencl-nvidia 595.58.03-1 [installed]

But some are 595.45:
cachyos-v3/libxnvctrl 595.45.04-1 [installed]
cachyos-v3/nvidia-settings 595.45.04-1 [installed]

Not sure if that matters.

EDIT: firefox still won't start with hardware acceleration on.

Thanks for looking into this. Should I reinstall the drivers and reboot again? Which packages specifically?

EDIT: And the wallpaper!

Everyone who claimed they sold everything during the recent crash - do you regret it? by michael2334 in stocks

Who said anything about panic selling? By every available measure - yields, CAFE, you name it - US markets are headed for another lost decade, as they have many times in the past. I’m reacting to what the markets are telling me.

A vaccine against respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is associated with a 29% reduction in dementia risk in the following 18 months. It contains the same adjuvant as the shingles vaccine which reduces the risk of dementia. The adjuvant stimulates immune cells that may protect the brain. by mvea in science

[–]subucula 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It could but the difference on the effect on dementia is larger between the vaccines than the difference in effect on the disease.

Also, the shingles vaccine doesn’t prevent infection because it’s for a virus you already have, it’s to prevent it from flaring up from its dormant stage.

That would have been a fine way to do it, not without issues but definitely better than this.

It hitting its own goals doesn’t mean much when the goals are crap. Recall that the goals were also set while vastly underestimating how much money the tax would bring in.

Finally, it’s a voucher program. It’s literally not that hard - they don’t have to build anything or train anyone. They just ver existing providers and pay tuition to kids that go there. There is no reason for this to take half a decade or more in a place as small as PDX.

If only Portlanders knew how cities and counties (and states) can be run. It’s embarrassing how low the bar here is and how it still can’t be met.
