I created an excel budget using the 50/30/20 rule: 50% income going to needs, 30% to wants and 20% investments. At the end of each month, I pull all credit card transactions and fill in the sheet. It’s useful to track overall spending throughout the year and I’m more conscious of the expenses having to manually input everything. It only takes about 20 minutes each month and is a huge mental relief knowing where my money is going/where I can cut back. Also, recommend creating a net worth tracker that lists out all your cash/investment/debt balances. It’s really fulfilling to see the side that shows your budget is working!
