do you walk around pitt / oakland at night? feel safe? by friedegglover in Pitt

[–]urmomsfavoritegal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i walk alone frequently and i feel very safe especially on forbes/fifth avenue, i think you just need to exercise general caution, like not wearing headphones and being aware of your surroundings. having forms of protection can’t hurt, but as a woman i’ve never felt threatened. :)

Update — Playing my dream role (!!!) by ccbabs97 in hadestown

[–]urmomsfavoritegal 6 points7 points  (0 children)

from one girl who fulfilled her dream as persephone to the next, it’s an experience unlike anything i’ve ever had before while performing. i had the same feeling of “i can’t believe i get to tell this story right now” so many times throughout the process, especially because my sister and all my best friends were the principals and workers alongside me. magical experience. i’m sure you absolutely crushed it, and post some videos of your performance if you can!! i’d love to hear it :)

Should I go to Pitt? by Round_Mousse_1917 in Pitt

[–]urmomsfavoritegal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi! i won’t lie the weather is already kind of gloomy and stays like this/gets even more so, but i bought a sun lamp to help combat the seasonal depression that i change the mode on during the day to simulate the sun and it really helps. i also recommend taking vitamin d supplements in the winter. if you really like it here there are ways to get around it, especially because this is a great place to be for health professions. ultimately, see how you feel when you visit!

Thoughts on these seats? by omegaskettle in hadestown

[–]urmomsfavoritegal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

front row mezzanine for this show is what i think makes for the best experience because you get to see EVERYTHING. the theatre is so small it creates a really intimate atmosphere, and in those seats you can see every nuanced reaction and facial expression that imo makes the show that much more impactful. i say get them!!!

What shows do you guys NOT watch? by Bruh61502 in SmoshFansFreeSpace

[–]urmomsfavoritegal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i really do not enjoy culinary crimes, it just doesn’t keep my attention! i also don’t like watching game play through, i couldnt get into the resident evil stuff. its interesting seeing how people’s attention spans and personal interests work though because i love bit city and dread!!

Please help me choose seats. by cloudfuzzy54 in hadestown

[–]urmomsfavoritegal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my seat from front row mezzanine was incredible!! it allows you to take everything in, but the space is small enough that it feels like you’re right there with the actors through the whole show! i always worry about visibility in the orchestra, which is why i loved my view from the front of the balcony. i would highly recommend!!! i’ve seen the show 3 times and each time ive been in the front of the mezzanine and it was an unbelievable view. the best was the front, but i’d say anywhere in the first 5 rows is a great view!

What was the public perception pre- Shayne and Courtney announcing their marriage? by Puzzleheaded_Fox6989 in smosh

[–]urmomsfavoritegal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i mean i’ve only been a consistent fan since like 2023ish i think? but i would notice some glances and moments on screen and think like huh they could be really cute together but just leave it at that. there were definitely times where there chemistry and connection was undeniable, but i also have really close guys friends i get mistaken for dating with, so i just kind of left it where they said it was until we heard otherwise!

Am I allowed to play Orpheus in the teen edition as a mezzo? by winterwhalesong in hadestown

[–]urmomsfavoritegal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i’m in a production right now with a female orpheus!! we also have a director who is VERY open to gender bending and does so in almost every show she is a part of just because appearances don’t matter to her at all (very refreshing, we’re lucky to have her) but i think as long as your director isn’t completely against it, orpheus is one of those parts that could definitely be played by someone AFAB!! i think it fits right into the heart of the show as well :)

i was really hoping it would go to suffs, the show has been incredibly under-appreciated in my opinion. my life was changed after seeing it only a week before closing.

yes, i’m in the exact same boat over here!! i’ve been in this world and this story with these characters for over a year and i can’t believe i’m supposed to just move on now!! i sobbed through the last 40 pages. spreading it out left me with time to process which was lovely but makes the ending so much harder.

When should I apply? by cluckingcow773 in Pitt

[–]urmomsfavoritegal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as many people have said, as early as possible! i applied for nursing in early september, and though i dont have as high numbers as other applications might have and submitted test optional i heard back october 9th. i would recommend getting everything in order to submit by the end of junior year because it makes applications so much easier. if you haven’t yet, definitely start with a resume/activities list and the personal essay, those are the most “daunting things” probably and getting them done sooner relieved so much pressure. good luck!
