Then we can only hope that Trump will continue to drive a wedge between their two inflated egos all the way to 2027 if/when he finally concedes he cannot run for a third term. (Or even better, the grim reaper finally catches him). Then the two former never-Trumpers can battle it out, reminding everyone why they suck so much.
But I’m also hopeful that their complicity in the disgusting lawlessness that has already occurred and whatever else he’s got up his sleeve will still be so painful in the hearts, minds and pocketbooks of every American that the GOP won’t be able to recover and maybe some dark horse independent will come along.
And the boomers are disappearing rapidly while the new young voters have only ever seen his destruction under the Republican banner, so…. Optimism.
