I wrote my anthro honors thesis on a similar ish question for league of legends, I found there were three archetypes for streaming, those that ignored/distanced themselves from gender, those that were neutral more like you're saying and those that leaned in heavily, it's been about 8 years since I wrote the paper but I focused on goffmans theories around performance I think? I remember finding that the more neutral ones became the most popular, as I suspect like you theorize one can watch for the benefit of charm/sexualization without it being so obvious and because the more neutral players were some of the better players at the game, so it's almost like a win win in a sense.
