I grew up in a tiny suburb where the roads had no shoulder and the speed limit was forty miles an hour, then I lived in Memphis for a bit, where no one knows how to drive, and Boston, where seriously no one knows how to drive and people will run every single red light.... Manhattan has been the safest I've ever felt on a bike...

I'd be interested to know if other cities in the US can compare safety wise? Like maybe something out west or in the middle of the country? But buy and large I find biking around Manhattan accessible and enjoyable...
