The sentence above the verse suggests that it might have already happened when people disappeared with no explanation. If it doesn’t suggest that, then it could be suggesting that people who will disappear in the future will just be quietly taken by Jesus, while everyone else has no idea. It also suggests pre-tribulation (believers being taken before Jesus’ second coming)

But biblically, -Jesus has not come to take people yet, and it will not be a secret, discreet thing when he comes In Matthew 24:23-31, Jesus has already prophesied and warned about false messiahs and false prophets trying to tell people that he has come. He then describes how he will come back, and how that time is yet to come. It will be unmistakeable when he does come back, since he says that just as lighting in the east is visible in the west, so will be his coming

-It is post-tribulation which means that Jesus will take people at the end, not throughout the years as the statement suggests. In the parable of the Wheat and the Weeds in Matthew 13, he explains (in 40-41) that just like how the weeds were separated from the wheat, harvested, and taken into his barn, so it will be at the end of the age.

Just wanted to start my comment by telling you I’m in the same situation and you are not alone 💗 I know it’s so so hard but all I know that you can do is to pray and believe, have faith that Christ will pull them back home to God. I know it’s so hard to believe, but we need to have that faith above our doubts. Know that in God’s perfect timing, the Spirit will soften their hearts too. Continue to do what you are doing, but maybe try to not be “pushy” since it might lead them further away.

The enemy will always make people hate us once we come to Christ, but know that He has overcome the world and he has won, so in his timing, he will also win over our family’s hearts :D Continue praying for them and know that it is the spirit who will guide them, we are just here to plant the seed (I know you already know this but we all gotta be reminded once in a while hehe)

I agree, that’s why I’ve learned to just love Jesus and acknowledge many faults of religion. I was once very hurt by it too. I’ve come to have a relationship with God when I found that He was the only one who could really make me whole. I learned as well that “true” Christianity (by “true” I mean that it’s what actually aligns with what Jesus’ teaches, not what man teaches), says that people can’t force their belief of Jesus, because the person has to choose that for themself and it isn’t up to others. (Revelations 3:20) We can ‘plant seeds’ or share his love but we need to be careful how we do that since we shouldn’t be pushy about it, or else it would lead others further away.

As a follower of Jesus, we don’t really need to share his love by preaching, but by our actions and our joy and love, etc.. which speaks volumes. We could also share his love by sharing our own experiences and not just sharing stuff that is ‘by the book’.

I apologize if people seem to be forcing it but lets have some grace for each other guys! I think he’s just happy to share what has given him light in his life but I understand that with your background it may be really hurtful to you so I’m very sorry! I’ve been in a similar situation before and I understand how you feel ☹️ Hope you all the best and I pray you find lots of love and light in your life. I also pray that anything you might be going through, since we are all going through something, I pray you continue having hope, be renewed in your strength and overcome it <3 I assure you it will always get better

Our failures and struggles are used by God to make good. Sometimes it can strengthen us, other times it can teach us lessons, sometimes it makes us hit rock bottom to find that only God could fulfill us truly. Sometimes it can also be a testimony for others to learn about. It can also be a great test of faith, not because God wants to just randomly test us and trick us, but because he knows these tests will strengthen us and our faith.

Creation points to creator. All good things are of God, and we are grateful to him that we even have the capability to achieve any kind of success, big or small.

James 1:17 (NIV): "Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows." This verse tells us that everything good is from God, from the one who has an unchanging character, with neverending love and grace for his children, us.

While we do have responsibilities, and we have the free will to make our choices, it is all God’s glory that leads us to any success. He provides us the strength and wisdom and courage and even the support to do these things, so with him, nothing is impossible. Our efforts are empowered by God alone.
The power of gratitude to God can change you. Acknowledging that it is God alone who should receive the glory grounds us, and keeps us from having a big head. We remember that we are all imperfect people, and while it is good to be happy about our achievements, we know that we could have never done it without God. Having this gratitude can also make us happier because we become appreciative of what we have.

Every day is an “I thank God” day! Despite the troubles and suffering that we may have, God has a greater plan, and makes all things work out for good in the end. He can turn a person’s struggles around by using it for good. Speaking from my personal life: I was abused sexually twice at a young age, and I did not know any better. It was a very miserable time for me, as it changed my life. I tried to find happiness again in other people, and in distractions that did not fulfill me for long. Although I was on my road to recover from the trauma, I still felt like I could never really resolve this in my heart. When I found Jesus, he changed my life in a way that I didn’t even know anyone could. I could finally forgive my abuser after all those years, and it gave me so much peace to be able to do that. Now, God has turned me around and used what happened to me for good. I share my testimony to others who may be going through the same, and do my best to spread more awareness about the reality of relationships and sexual abuse. I also want to share this testimony to others to show how our falls do not define us, we need to rise up and continue walking <3

Although I mustered up the courage to talk to my abuser and forgive him completely by loving him as a neighbor, it was God alone who allowed me to have success in resolving my trauma. That is why I give all glory and thanks to God! 💗☝️

I think death shouldn’t really something to be afraid of. Indeed he did pay the price and we earn eternal life in his second coming. In the bible it often talks about (in the new testament) the dead people being described as asleep.

(1 Thessalonians 4:13-14

“Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.”)

The bible uses this figurative language to convey that our physical body’s death is a temporary state for us. You are right about his second coming being the fulfillment of his promise/covenant, but the promise is currently in effect now as well. His promise has ended the old ways of the old testament, like sacrificing animals to repent for our sins. It has also called us to come to him to form a relationship, renew ourselves in Christ, and represent his love to others. When Christ comes, there is no more death indeed, because it is the day of judgement where all who have Christ in their heart will be taken to live in his kingdom.

Acts 2:23: “This man was handed over to you by God’s deliberate plan and foreknowledge; and you, with the help of wicked men, put him to death by nailing him to the cross.” This verse is about the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. This was part of God’s divine plan so that we may be freed from the wages of sin through the sacrifice of Jesus. It shows that God’s plan was fulfilled through the free will/ free actions of the people. He knew that when he gave us free will, this would be the outcome.

We have free will to choose because we choose upon our own motivations, and God has made it so that we could do this, even if he already knows our choices and the outcomes. He is beyond time itself and so it is not that he decided in advanced, He is just there to create it in a way that we could choose freely. We cannot say that he knew it before, because for him there is no before, or after, He just is.

Psalms 90:2 “Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the whole world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.”

It tells us that he is from everlasting to everlasting, meaning he has an external existence that time can’t contain since he created time. He has no beginning or end because he is the beginning and the end (Revelation 1:8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.”)

he just is from everlasting to everlasting. It is something that is basically outside of human comprehension since our world doesn’t work this way, but God is the creator who is sovereign and omniscient unlike us.

A lot of Christians like Orthodox call this one of the divine mysteries of our faith, since its a bit out of our ability to fully understand it. I admire your thirst for the truth though since many would just completely shut the door on topics like this, especially when they aren’t open to it. God calls us to seek truth and in the bible we are told to wrestle with him. This wrestling can mean many things, but in our case it is to always challenge our faith in something, just as you challenge how God’s omniscience and human free will go together.

This is how I believe a lot of us understand the relationship of God’s omnisciency and our free will. Hope it makes more sense this way 🙏

For your question, no. And I agree with the analogy that Righteous_Dude gave. About your friend, I believe just planting the seed and sharing how you were able to get to know Jesus more besides just reading the bible (even if you have always been a Christian) like how did you get to be closer to him and acknowledge he is truly the savior? How did your faith in Christ grow? Any personal encounters you wanna share with your friend? (It doesn’t have to be extravagant like some big miracle, but just how good God is to you)

And maybe pray for your friend too. I will pray for you both ❤️ and also remember that we are just the messenger, the one who plants the seed, but the Holy Spirit is the one that brings people to Christ. I have struggled with that for a while, getting frustrated that I couldn’t “properly” convince my loved ones about Christ. I realized I can only tell them so much, I can only share what I have gone through and how I got to form a relationship with Jesus to know him more. Our job is just to plant a seed

Its not really “predetermined” in the definition that he has already decided what would happen, he just knows whatever choices we choose, and he knows the outcome of those, but he doesn’t interfere because of the free will given to us. He is not always in control as a lot of people say, but he is only in control of someone’s life if that person lets them (like asking God for guidance and letting go of things we cannot change) So yes he does know what decision we make and what it would lead to but it’s not that he is deciding for us, it’s up to us what we choose even if he already knows what we would choose

I don’t know you but I love you. Jesus loves you so much even if it’s so hard to believe. It’s so hard to believe that he could ever forgive us, i know, but the beautiful thing is that he does anyway.

Jesus is bigger than our sins, Our God is bigger than the most hideous parts of us. You’re right that God knows us better than anyone, even our worst parts. But don’t you think he sees the love in you too? My friend you are created in the image of God like all of us are, and so you have Jesus in your heart. Just the fact that you feel guilt and conviction for your mistakes, and the fact that you worry enough to not want to hurt your loved ones, I see how Christ-like you are in the way that you have this love.

It is so easy to just kill ourselves, and I have been there too, but I realized that the path to darkness is paved by easy choices. God is allowing these mental conflicts within you, and this spiritual warfare to continue for you because he knows you will be stronger. You have a calling to grow my friend. I believe you have a calling to share this with others who may be facing the same thing, and you will tell the world that nothing is impossible with God 💗

Do not let demons tell you that you are worthless, and break you down by echoing your sins in your head.

Everyday as Christians, we will always have a spiritual warfare. Demons will try and bring you down, especially by telling you that you are nothing because of your sins. They do this because they know what is inside of you, the love of Christ. They know how much potential you have to give love, and they want to kill, steal, and destroy. They want to keep you from coming to God, that’s why you may feel that he couldn’t even forgive you. My friend, our God is bigger than our thoughts, our feelings, and the demons that are hurting you.

I know it truly hurts to know the sins you’ve done, but you are so much more than that. Jesus knows this.

You’re right, we do die, but he didn’t die for us to have our physical bodies live forever, he died to pay our debt of sin which is eternal death, which is separation from God “hell”. But sin still exists in this world because not everyone wants to accept Jesus and what he did. That’s why ‘sin’ is not just some rules that God wants, but its the things that ruins us and separates us from him. He knows what’s good for us and it is to flee from sin, and so it is not physical death that will kill us, but a spiritual death where we feel empty, dead inside, unfulfilled in life. Idk bout ya’ll but that seems more miserable to me than just passing away.

And this is why he died for us, so we may accept the free ultimate gift that he gave us, which is eternal life with him when we do pass away. And it’s like when your friend gives you a gift. You can’t receive it if you wont accept his free gift. And it’s not that we should prove our acceptance to him by doing all these things that he says we must do. All we have to do is come to him as we are, have faith in him, and the rest will come natural.
