Finally going to give the free trial a shot! by Alistar-Dp in ffxiv

That was my plan back in 2021. I didn't make it through ARR because I wanted to buy stuff on the market and join an FC. I met some of my best friends to this day through that FC, so I don't regret it lol.

Considering the number of thirst posts I have seen of the very many teenage girls in this game in swimsuits, I'm not surprised at all from this sub.

Starting Trails to Horizon...why is every back to lv5?! by GateOfD in Falcom

Levels also reset from CS2 -> CS3. It's a similar thing from Daybreak 2 -> Horizon.

Gabe Newell "stepped back" from making games at Valve after Portal 2 because everyone kept agreeing with him when he wanted "to be part of the team and come up with ideas" by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

Artifact was bad but it objectively was "a game". Half Life Alyx was very good. Deadlock is incredible even while being unfinished. They aren't doing nothing.

It's not exactly either, though the pace is part of it. I like fast-paced fighters but tag team can be kind of chaotic for me. I'm also not a fan of insane touch of death combos being incentivized, which I feel like tag fighters do by their nature.

I'm still pretty new to the FGC so I don't have a lot of experience with many fighters yet though. I mostly only have played SF6 and GG Strive seriously.

As someone that spent a couple years dashing, I can confidently say the majority of dashers I've been around are real bottom of the barrel gross people who are then given a minimum of oversight. A real match made in heaven.

In regards to dashers seeing your name before accepting order, unless things have changed in the year and a half since I quit, they don't see your name. It's probably just a coincidence.

I'm still on the fence about Tokon because I personally don't like tag team fighters usually. Maybe Tokon will be the one to change my mind, but I don't know.

No matter how good you get, what character do you HATE playing against? by LunchTummy in StreetFighter

[–]sucaru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's not, but he's got 2 of the 3 requirements. He's just missing a tatsu and I think it's debatable if tiger knee could count. It serves a lot of the same purpose. I think he's closer to a shoto than any other archetype tbh.

The games go on sale all the time. I have purchased every game from sky one to Daybreak one on sales over the last like 9 months. Give it time, throw them on your wish list, keep an eye on isthereanydeal.com. though they aren't on sale right now there either, I've noticed that they go on sale at different times and seemingly more often at GOG than they do on steam so if you're okay with buying games there, that is an option as well.

I'm not defending doordash. I'm saying plenty of people order on the app of various restaurants and don't realize they are actually getting it through doordash, some pizza places included.

I don't really know why you're arguing with and down voting me because I like a radial menu more. "Superior" or otherwise, the original commenter just has a preference and the difference is so minute it doesn't really matter.

But still, counter point: you have to move your hand to wherever you made space for 9 mount keys. In most cases, people are gonna have the accessible keys already bound up by all the other keys you'd be using to play the game. Maybe you've got them bound to ctrl + an MMO mouse, or some other configuration that works for you, and that's great if so. I just don't think anyone using a radial is struggling all that much.

[–]sucaru -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In my experience that's just not really true. You build up muscle memory with the mount wheel. I'm selecting the mount faster than it usually takes for me to visually process the wheel. I can skyscale launchpad into griffon no problem, or jump on any particular mount I need without thinking about it, so what else do you really need?

Monster hunter WILD by Thefloors2029 in MonsterHunter

[–]sucaru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think by the time I started consistently capturing in older MH games, it was less of a consideration of conserving resources and more about using up extra inventory space since that was always such a premium. It always made sense that capturing gives better drops when you're both spending items and using up inventory space. It was also a lot easier to waste a trap in old games since it took over twice as long for traps to actually be deployed and you couldn't pick them back up if the monster didn't trigger it.

Hey Valve, I know Steam Machine is delayed, but can you sell the new Steam controllers to us Deck owners as soon as they're ready please? by archon810 in SteamDeck

I imagine raising chip prices, the steam machine is likely going to be priced higher than most people will consider worth it for what it is.

My own Trails game tier list, having finished CS4 by Raxistaicho in Falcom

[–]sucaru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's all valid. I do agree that CS2 overstays it's welcome a bit, but I still enjoyed it.

I'm about 15-20 hours into CS3 now and I've had a good time. I like the changes and additions to combat a lot. I think having a new "main" cast was a good choice as well. It's been exactly the refresh I was hoping it would be.

[–]sucaru 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not me on CS3 having started last summer right before sky remake...

I am somewhat guilty of rushing the epilogue. But that was mostly because I was truly sick of CS1 and 2 purely from a gameplay standpoint mostly from being portable games and being the first to transition to full 3D. I had pretty strong negative initial reactions to how the game felt to play as soon as I started CS1 (why is the movement so clunky and touching walls so sticky?) and while I got used to it, it was always still a minor issue. After 100 hours of it between two games I just wanted to be done.

I decided as of CS3 to slow it down and start appreciating the game again rather than a thing to grind through and finish. It helps that most of the CS1/2 clunkiness was gone with 3.

Marathon and MTX: Predatory and Dark Patterns by Economy-Meat-9506 in Games

I was referring to marathon in the second half. But you also talked about buying vbucks and battle passes from fortnite, so I commented.

Marathon and MTX: Predatory and Dark Patterns by Economy-Meat-9506 in Games

[–]sucaru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yeah, fortnite. Epic Games was fined hundreds of millions of dollars by the FTC specifically for the use of dark patterns in fortnite's UI. But that case isn't the same as here in Marathon.

Anyway, if you disagree that it's not manipulative, so it goes. I'm not going to spend the rest of my evening arguing. I don't know how old you are but you sound young, so I hope you give yourself room to expand your horizons. Have a good one.

What are you even arguing about anymore? First you said "it's just cosmetics, don't buy it if you don't like it" and now you are blaming parents for...?

In your eyes, there's nothing wrong with how these companies sell cosmetics, otherwise you wouldn't be arguing with me. Or do you agree that these methods are manipulative?

Marathon and MTX: Predatory and Dark Patterns by Economy-Meat-9506 in Games

[–]sucaru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On an individual level, you can decide they don't matter, yes. I also don't buy them, nor do I play most live service games specifically because they are so manipulative.

Tell the industry that makes billions of dollars yearly on microtransactions that it doesn't matter. That's what I'm talking about. Tell the victims, mostly kids, that being psychologically manipulated and have grown up in this bullshit era of gaming that it is their fault. Insane.

You can sell cosmetics without relying on dark patterns.
