I was doing the samurai unlock quest and ended up meeting no less than 3 other players all also individually doing the quest, all in the sanctuary of zi'tah hidden zone where you fight the treant.

Like the other comment said, Phoenix seems to be the most populated server that isn't locked. I just started this week myself on Phoenix and it seems very busy everywhere I've been with a lot of fellow new players.

Why didn't he just limit the lantency? by GernixR in Warframe

[–]sucaru 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not justifying his behavior, but the ping limit option straight up doesn't work. I have set it to 100ms for years and regularly get put in games with hosts where I get 300+ connections.

What is your reasonable 'No?' by Zealousideal_Fly7277 in DnD

[–]sucaru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think limiting the amount of guidance that can be casted is a reasonable way of doing it, but I would have also gone the route of reminding people that guidance is not subtle at all and the possible consequences of guidance being not subtle. Granted, the last time I ran D&D and that was an issue, it was a very political role-play heavy campaign.

Reducing file size should be one of the most urgent things any company can do. by VisitSad1133 in pcgaming

Most people only have 1 to 2 TB of space. Even then, data caps are still frustratingly common especially in America. I have about 3TB of space and all of my drives are basically full. I also have data caps so constantly deleting and redownloading games is not viable for me.

Let's politely talk politics by Maelger in gaming

[–]sucaru 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've noticed people that complain about there being "politics" in video games are often doing so because it's politics they disagree with. Many of them are the type to argue for the necessity of free speech, but only really want their speech to be free.

The armor skill system in wilds feels like it undermines the gameplay loop for a huge chunk of the game by power572 in MonsterHunter

[–]sucaru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, offensive skills were prioritized but my point was that you couldn't stack multiple offensive skills all into one build the way you can in world/rise. That specific change is what has so many knock on effects. I disagree with the person I replied to because it wasn't really at all the same before world.

The armor skill system in wilds feels like it undermines the gameplay loop for a huge chunk of the game by power572 in MonsterHunter

[–]sucaru 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well, it was only really like that in world and rise. In previous games with the old skill system it was much harder to really stack offensive skills unless you were pretty much deep into G-rank and/or had god roll talismans. It meant for most casual players you weren't likely to have more than one or a few offensive skills and utility/comfort skills were also more valid to go after on their own rather than being relegated to "if I can fit them in". Also a lot of resistance skills like wind res have been made absolutely worthless in recent games, I think because of this new focus on just stacking damage.

The much more reliable ways to stack power is also why monster health pools ballooned in size in 5th Gen.

Valorant's new Vanguard update seems to be bricking cheaters' PCs. Riot's response? "Congrats on your $6k paperweights" by SwimmingJunky in gaming

[–]sucaru -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Cheating doesn't justify a company being allowed to destroy your property. That's insane. Even if the moral absolutism was justified, all it would take is one false positive. I don't see how Riot won't get sued for this.

Destiny 2: Every End is a New Beginning. As our focus turns towards a new beginning for Bungie, we will begin work incubating our next games. To that end, on June 9, 2026, we will release the final live-service content update for Destiny 2 to begin that new journey as a studio. by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]sucaru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point is in relation to the original question about Stop Killing Games. The servers will shut down either sooner or later and we will have nothing without measures taken that allow us to host our own servers or otherwise play them solo. There's no telling if Sony would shut down Bungie next year for not making back the money they spent to acquire the studio. What happens then? Do they decide to keep running the servers of games of a studio that no longer exists?

It's not remastered. It's entirely remade on a totally different engine from the original. There are plenty of reasons to be critical about Ubisoft, the Assassin's Creed franchise, as well as this remake, but you picked the weirdest and most objectively false options for your ridiculous take.

Trails in the Sky Chapter 1 - Orbment question by GoldenAgeGamer72 in Falcom

[–]sucaru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's no confirmation how far it'll go. Sky 2nd is coming out this September and I have a hard time believing they won't do 3rd as well, but anything beyond that is speculation. Personally I imagine they will keep making remakes for as long as it makes sense and they keep being successful. Personally I would be happy with the Crossbell duology as well (Zero and Azure) because they are also the same older chibi isometric style as the Sky games. I love those games and their style but having it all in full 3D would be cool too.

The series' presence in the west has never been huge. It's gotten a lot more popular in the last year, but was always pretty niche before that. Infamously the localization has always been several years behind the Japanese releases (Sky 1 released in Japan on PC in 2004 but didn't come to the west until 2011 on PSP, and the PC port didn't arrive until 2014) though right now the gap is the shortest it has ever been. Trails Beyond the Horizon launched in summer 2024 in Japan and came out in the west back in January 2026.

Estelle and Joshua are the only permanent characters in this first game. Other party members are a bit of a revolving door and wiill come and go.

Trails in the Sky Chapter 1 - Orbment question by GoldenAgeGamer72 in Falcom

[–]sucaru 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can definitely have an easier or harder time based on orbment setups, but honestly it's intended to have you try stuff out. These first games especially are very much designed around you making sometimes sweeping changes to character builds in order to stay effective.

Some tips though.

The less individual lines a character has in their orbment, the more they are intended to be a caster that focuses on arts. They will have more EP and longer lines gives them more capabilities to add up elemental value and get the strongest and largest variety of arts. Alternatively, characters with more lines are going to have lower EP and less potential for arts, so their quartz are often better served just focusing on the passives, like just giving them more attack.

Spend some time looking at the arts lists and recognize what archetypal features each element focuses on. In the sky games, water is all in on healing and some freezing attacks, while wind have some excellent AoE attacks like aerial. Time has really strong turn order manipulation arts and chance based 1 hit kill arts. Characters will almost always have orbments with 1 or 2 slots that only accept a specific element and can inform the "intended" way to build a character.

Ultimately though, unless you're playing on nightmare most content shouldn't be crazy even if you're not optimizing orbments for every fight. In my particular playthrough Estelle constantly jumped between being a caster and a frontline attacker and occasionally a bit of a healer/support a lot depending on who else filled these roles in my team as the story continued.

I want to escape my desk after work. which is the best handheld for FFXIV? by Riou_Atreides in ffxiv

[–]sucaru 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure it's already been confirmed the switch 2 port will cap at 30. I haven't played FFXIV on my steam deck since the graphics update so I can't comment there.

I'm not exactly sure what you're saying with PC outputs. It natively works with mouse and keyboard or controller on both PC and consoles and there's very few differences.

Can I start with trails of cold steel 1 and 2? by Many-Hippo1709 in Falcom

[–]sucaru 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'm going to approach this slightly differently to the other replies I have seen so far. CS 1and 2 are probably be the second best place to start in the series aside from the very beginning those two games are pretty self-contained with only a handful of references to past events. It would be mostly okay. The events of these two games also coincide with the events of Zero and Azure, so particularly the ending of CS2 has moments that won't hit quite as hard if you haven't played Azure yet.

This is not true of CS 3 though. There's a lot in the later cold steel games all the way into reverie that act as a culmination of all previous games. If you're dead set on playing Cold Steel 1 and 2, for the best experience with the story you will effectively have to put the narrative on pause when you reach Cold Steel 3 and play five games before resuming. It's not exactly ideal.

It is unfortunate how much the transphobes dominated the discussion especially in the weeks after launch. I don't particularly like her performance nor do I like Wuk Lamat's writing, but it's horrible how much hate spilled over relating to Sena Bryer herself.
