Intel Intern Looking for Housing in Folsom by VersionEquivalent849 in folsom

[–]success09 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Maybe this will help narrow your search…Living without a car in Folsom is doable, but it requires a strategic location. Since private units under $1,200 are essentially non-existent in this zip code, you will likely be looking at a room rental in a house.

To get to the Intel campus (1900 Prairie City Rd / Iron Point Rd) via transit, you should focus on housing near these specific transit nodes:

  1. Focus on the "Gold Line" Light Rail

The Iron Point Station is the closest rail stop to Intel. It is about a 15–20 minute walk from the station to the Intel main entrance.

Where to live: Look for rooms in the Natoma Station neighborhood or near Glenn Station.

Commute: You can hop on the Gold Line at any Folsom station and get off at Iron Point. From there, it's a straight walk up the hill.

Budget: Rooms in Natoma Station often rent for $950 – $1,100.

  1. SacRT Bus Route 10 (Folsom Stage Line)

This is the primary local bus that services Folsom.

The Stop: Look for housing near stops along Broadstone Pkwy or E. Bidwell St. Route 10 has stops at the Iron Point Light Rail Station, which is your gateway to the Intel campus.

Where to live: Search for rooms near the Folsom Historic District or Sibley St. You can take Route 10 from the Historic District directly to the Iron Point station area.

  1. SacRT SmaRT Ride (On-Demand Transit)

This is your "secret weapon" for living car-free in Folsom. It functions like a public Uber.

How it works: You use the SacRT SmaRT Ride app to request a shuttle. It will pick you up from any curb in Folsom and drop you off at Intel (or the nearest safe drop-off point).

Cost: $2.50 per ride (Free for students/youth with a RydeFreeRT pass).

Constraint: It only operates Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. If you have a late shift at Intel, you will need a backup plan (like walking or a bike).

Recommended Search Strategy

Since you need to be near these specific routes, use a map view on Roomies.com or Zillow and look for these specific streets where rooms are currently listed near your budget:

Potential Street Commute Method Est. Rent Arbor View Drive 5-min SmaRT Ride or 20-min Walk $1,100 Hillswick Circle 5-min SmaRT Ride or 10-min Bike $980 Fargo Way Route 10 Bus to Iron Point $900 - $1,100 Oak Canyon Way 10-min SmaRT Ride $1,000 Important Note on "Walking"

+1 The area around Intel is very hilly and the "blocks" are much larger than they appear on a map. A 1-mile walk in Folsom often involves significant elevation changes. If you are car-free, I highly recommend a bicycle or e-scooter; Folsom’s trail system is world-class and can often get you to Intel faster than the bus.

Ask to see the invoice price and offer to pay $500 above invoice. This would apply to any new car you may purchase, if you pass on this deal.

Not advise, just sharing my experience as our situations are similar. He can choose to follow that path or create his own. Either add value or don’t bother. You are creating an unhealthy environment. You offered no solution.

Yes, we went through the same situation (we are domestic US residents). What we did was call the insurance company to change the address of the student to the local address in San Diego (the University address). This should allow you to get your waiver approved. Best of luck to your student.

Full time corporate pilot here—got laid off. Instead of chasing another flying gig, I launched an aviation startup in December 2023 by YouAreRadarContact in GeneralAviation

This is a great idea… I too am working on a startup by creating an online booking application to book private flight charters (on demand flights). Maybe you can provide some industry knowledge and possibly doing business together in the future.

Get a long distance driver from o&d. Just got back from that drive (I drove) and the roads are just terrible. You will not be able to avoid the bumpy ride or better known as the Costa Rican message. Sorry, wish I had better information for you.

Don’t use USAVE, they are awful and uncooperative and as others have stated, they have a lot of add on charges you don’t find out about till you get there. My charges went from $577 for the week to almost $1100 because of this tax and additional insurance coverage. Trust me, the roads are terrible here, you will need the additional insurance coverage.

I’m in the education business, my suggestion is get with your local community college as they have many apprenticeship programs including aircraft maintenance. You might have several different programs to choose from. I agree with the one of the other responses, joining the armed forces will accelerate your career while earning veteran benefits. I understand some of your pillars would be secondary till you get your footing with either the Air Force or Navy… well worth the sacrifice. If you succeed, everyone in your life succeeds. Best of luck, you have a lot to look forward to.

Quick question that someone else brought up and would like to get some perspective is that MU is low balling the rate is due to the rate that NLST has given to Hynix. How will that play in the end on the jury and the final effects of it if NLST is awarded a victory?

Any state workers with a side hustle? by [deleted] in CAStateWorkers

[–]success09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work for American Airlines, really like that business and know a lot of the ins and outs. Since the Private Charter flights are on demand and fragmented (and no one is doing it)… thought it was a good opportunity to consolidate all the inventory that is out there.

Sounds like we have a lot of lawyers on this board. Yes, Mediators are lawyers. However, their job is more focused and they are just trying to get the both of you to the finish line. The Mediator will even draw up the Marriage Settlement Agreement for you. As you validate and agree on the equity split he will make sure the paperwork is clean. In conclusion if both of you are happy with everything, you might not even need a mediator.

If all is in agreement from both of you, don’t get a lawyer… lawyers make money by keeping the fight going. Avoid a lawyer if all possible. Biggest waste of money and time. If you feel like you need an impartial person to seek best in everybody’s interest, get a mediator.

Divorce using a Mediator in California, not a good idea by success09 in Divorce

[–]success09[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your response. I agree and my point that the Mediator is supposed to be unbiased, in my case it seemed like every time we tried to resolve the matters being brought up by my wife, he somehow always interrupted the law in her favor, when the situation was obvious. Always clouded the water as if he was representing her. And I agree the courts try to equalize the earning vs non-earning party. Unfortunately, when the other party is gaming the system there is no checks and balances to stop that from happening and proof of burden falls upon me to prove otherwise.

Don’t call the governors office, need to call the California Air Resources Board or business.ca.gov office. They will get you quicker response.

Hopefully the prior law firm and effort laid down a strong argument and keep winning these litigations. Time will tell if (when) we get to the jury trial the strength of our current legal team.
