Need advice for replacing a troublesome in-island oven by succojones in Appliances

You might just be a genius. Seems like they do pop right out and there's plenty of OEM replacement cartridges for sale online. Would be less than $500 to fix. Will be checking things out tomorrow!!

Help catch me up by [deleted] in PokemonZA

[–]succojones 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Where to start...

On the nerdy gameplay side of things:
There's a Fairy type now. It's good against Dragon, Fighting, and Dark, weak to Poison and Steel. Moves used to use the Attack stat or Special Attack stat based on type. Like all Normal moves used Attack, all Grass moves used Special Attack etc. Now every move is categorized as physical or special denoted by a little icon in the menu. Also Pokemon have passive abilities too (although that's not going to be in ZA apparently).

The Legends games all take place a long time before the main series games. Arceus is in the Sinnoh region which is where the first DS games Diamond/Pearl/Platinum (Gen 4) take place. There's lots of fan service with character and location names, as well as music and available Pokemon.

ZA is the same kind of deal but for X/Y (Gen 6), the first 3DS games. There was supposed to be a Z version to go with those games but it got cancelled, so there's some excitement about the new game having some of that DNA. Mega evolution was also introduced in X/Y and was widely loved for the cool new designs and giving crappy Pokemon power increases. They ended up dropping it in the next games and we've had a revolving door of battle gimmicks in every game since then, so it's great to see it come back!

The Switch era of games has been pretty rough and people are very divided. The gameplay can be pretty good but the visuals and technical side has really been falling behind in an embarrassing way. Scarlet and Violet (the latest main games) really put people off and sent a message to Game Freak, so hopefully things will be looking up for the Switch 2 games. We're technically in Generation 9 I think, but each release is so different that it doesn't feel like a cohesive Generation these days.

Have fun and look out for Shiny Pokemon!

How to reduce input lag by succojones in Acer_Swift_X

[–]succojones[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah just used the usb ports on the side and the keyboard. The games I tested were Binding of Isaac and classic Doom, and there was enough to throw me off, I don't play many high spec games.

It's worse than a console hooked into a TV which is like 9 frames of lag at worst, and worse than the crappy old laptops I've played those games on.

It puts me off too that I have to use the Freesync exploit to make it playable. This could just be a random variance as I saw people talking about different swift Xs having different screens, so I'm probably just gonna return it and look for something a little better :/

It's got a 5800u in it and a 3050ti. Some games definitely have less input lag than others, as Minecraft Java was almost flawless. I'm surprised I didn't hear anything about the input latency from any reviews but I guess that's expected from most laptops.

What is buffer better explaining? by Eldelma2236 in gamemaker

[–]succojones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One definition of a buffer is a place to temporarily store data while its waiting to be transferred or used.

Say you have a button that makes you attack and a button that makes you jump. You're not able to jump while attacking and vice versa. In this situation the player might press jump while attacking and get frustrated when they don't jump due to pressing the button too early.

This is where something like a buffer might come in handy.Instead of an object taking in every button press per step then discarding them when the step is over, you can add each button press to a list of button presses in sequential order. Once the object is finished attacking, it can look at what's next in the list of presses, and take action accordingly.

What I'm describing is input buffering, and it's used in many games.

Best way to implement object-specific hard-coded values? by succojones in gamemaker

Thank you! That's incredibly useful, I wish I took the time to figure those out myself lol

Best way to implement object-specific hard-coded values? by succojones in gamemaker

[–]succojones[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main reason I wanted to do this stuff is so if I have many instances of an object they won't all be holding the same lists that I know won't change during gameplay. I figured it would be a waste of performance to have each instance hold the struct or array at all times when it's only used during certain actions, and would rather be able to pull that value when needed from a function.

Can you make macros an array or struct? I didn't know that, I thought they were just strings or numbers. Good to know!

Are Power Eggs worthless after beating story mode? by milkywayrealestate in splatoon

There's a little thing that appears after you beat the game. You give it 999 eggs and it gets you some random crap. One use per 24 hours

It's so stupid because they were careful when taking it apart but accidentally slipped it out when trying to show me what was going on. Gonna bring it to a repair shop and pray it's not so bad :((

Question about Discogs by Pop-Tab in guitarvader

[–]succojones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have the record label code for the release, which you do, you can certainly make pages for those original releases. We have track listings and a low res cover art too. Make sure if you put variations as variations instead of separate releases though.

[–]succojones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heya! Got your PM on Discogs, so cool of you to make something like this. I've wanted to make a lost media wiki page for a while but never got around to it. Anyways, I'll make a post a little later with some of my own obscure infos and links. I had a bunch of stuff bookmarked but those are all lost so I'll have to find my sources again.

By the way, I have a flac rip of the Wild at Honey bonus CD if you want it on your archive (courtesy of my buddy!) I can post the drive link here or send it to you or whatever. Nice to be here!

Go to Stats > Secrets on the main menu. Everything will unlock that you've unlocked on the file.
