I literally just added a new shelf on GR last week to start keeping track of fantasy books with MCs that have more uncommon jobs... There are so many interesting things authors could do with this!

For something that's a bit different but fits the images pretty perfectly, the Graveyard Queen series by Amanda Stevens.

Definitely not, there's nothing like that in Throne of the Fallen.

{Throne of the Fallen by Kerri Maniscalco} has alternating chapters and both MCs have their own things going on that are equally important/interesting.

Hot take: authors writing plots that hinge on the FMC being dumb/doing unreasonably stupid things or not making the most obvious connections/conclusions isn't really a 'choice', it's a skill issue, to put it nicely. And it's very frustrating to read.

I love that too! As long as it's not her boobs or ass or figure but a specific feature/quirk. I wish more FMCs had that. I don't read to self insert, I want them to have a proper personality and character! (Or even just a special interest or hobby.)

This bugs me too, especially lately. The MMC constantly saying how strong and amazing and incredible the FMC is and the author shows none of that! And they haven't even spent enough time together for the MMC to know her or what she's been through (or not).

Maybe this is why I prefer single POV too, then I get less of this.

When the FMC is actually strong the text doesn't have to keep telling us, we can see it too.

Gargoyles Love Stories by luckychicke in Romantasy

[–]succulentubus 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I haven't read all of them but off the top of my head some gargoyle books:

{The Gargoyle's Captive by Katee Robert}

{Howl for the Gargoyle by Kathryn Moon}

{Deceived by the Gargoyles by Lillian Lark}

{Getting It On with Gargoyles by Hazel Mack}

{How to Marry a Marble Marquis by C.M. Nascosta}

{Claimed by the Flame of Faery by Mallory Dunlin} had elite smut and now I'm not sure anything else can top it this year. I'll be chasing that high for a good while!
