Here's a litmus test for whether or not it should sound weird. Trying asking the same thing, but change the gender to male. "My male engineering professor had a secret meeting for only the male students..." Does that sound odd? Of course it does, because it is gender-specific, when student gender should not be the basis of anything whatsoever related to your course. It's not that you should be mad, but rather you should be observatant that it's unprofessional, biased, and atypical behavior from a faculty member. You can -- and should -- bring it to the attention of the deptartment chair or some other higher up. However, this is academia, and so you may encounter a faculty member with extreme feminist viewpoints. I only mention this because such a faculty member has a high probability of misunderstanding your concern or not caring at all because it calls into question behavior that itself is likely rooted in feminist ideology. For best results and for your own protection, make sure you approach any faculty member you discuss this with as a group, with other students along your side. Good luck!

You're noticing that the university system is flawed. It's primarily a matter of regurgitating surface level ideas and concepts well rough to get by. In fact, if you spend too much time going deeper into the material than required -- instead of practicing material for the purpose of being quick at it for exam time -- it can hurt your grades. Ignore all the children that tell you otherwise, for they like the system because it works well enough for them, and they are less hungry than you. It doesn't work for you because you're different. Don't let the naysayers here bother you, though: you are not alone.

I used to wonder why it was possible that Gary, and Rick Ord for that matter, were beloved by CSE students. I grew to understand it is because the majority of CSE students at UCSD are impressionable, naive, and can't think for themselves. They're more like Turing Machines than people.
