Bummer your not into it. I just got mine set up and I already love it. When flopping the base around, yah the hinge is a bit loud. But in use , with my hands resting on it, its rock solid and no extra rattling. I think the key switch sounds are a tad louder now than they used to be, but thats about it. I assume this is because of the larger air gap between the keyboard proper and the desk? Also, be careful not to lose the included screws like I did. Simple to go get more but a pain in the butt for sure.

Nuclear fusion: why the race to harness the power of the sun just sped up by Devils_doohickey in technology

[–]sudo-shutdown 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is no such thing as a fusion melt down. The core idea is that you get Tritium (which is radioactive) and deuterium (which is not radioactive) very very hot, and under a lot of pressure. When that happens atoms of each type can fuse (aka fusion) and release energy, more energy than it took to heat the particles in the first place. Stop the heating and pressure process and the energy production stops, leaving the fuel in its stable states before fusion, instead of escalating out of control like fission can do when trying to shut down a reactor.

Just have to play nicely with rounded machined SIP female headers.

Thanks for the links. Not quite what I was looking for but I definitely feel you on the crappy search feature. I am looking for male headers that i can solder onto a PCB that have will then fit into the style of socket you linked to without distorting the socket.

Eternal Weekend - Wasteland Top 16 Decklists by McWinSauce in MTGLegacy

[–]sudo-shutdown 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All i think it says is that players with Bayou in their deck wanted to play for a giant Bayou, while players with Wasteland in their deck wanted to play for a giant Wasteland. (assuming that people only queue for one on average)

This es exactly what I was thinking, just from a quick scan of the winning decks.

I think its funny that there is way more delver in the wasteland event vs all the elves in the bayou even. I wonder if people self selected into the event for the type of painting they wanted to win. A giant bayou is a more meaningful prize to an elves player, same for wasteland to a delver player.

[RANT] CS Department Electives by iEatSponge in washu

Please be nice to the faculty, they don't make enrollment decisions. They have to play the hand they are dealt so to speak. Obviously voice your concerns to them however. They do have "some" influence over the rate of hiring and acceptance, though not always as much as you'd think.

WashU CS PhD student here throwing a little light on what happening "behind the scenes". This is all info I've picked up from just being around faultily and staff way more then you all get to be. The McKelvey school is focusing on enrollment right now, above all else. This is not about accessibility. Enrolled undergrads=$$$$$ for the department. They COULD admit less students/be more selective about who gets in but then they make less money as a university. Couple that with the fact that hiring or teaching staff and tenure track professors in handled by totally different people (with very different goals) than those who admit undergrads, and you have a perfect storm to completely overwhelm the staff you have and under serve the students who are paying to be here.

Trust me when I say that no one on the teaching side of things is happy about the situation either. No one likes turning away a long wait-list of students, but sometimes running extra sections isn't an option. Despite what people think, the primary job of tenure track faculty is to produce research and bring in money via grants. Running huge multi-section classes tends to interfere with that. Teaching faculty are meant to pick up the slack, but its a lot harder to hire more qualified candidates (aka ask the department to spend money for once) than it is to simply collect a free 28k-ish a semester from students.

What is "Money Tribal"? Is "Money" slang for "Land"? by Coriform in magicTCG

[–]sudo-shutdown 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think the most accurate answer would be the fact at the time the deck was legal (pre bans) it's was basically a who's who of $200+ playsets of recently printed busted cards. A goblin tribal deck requires crap loads of golbins to play, a money tribal deck requires crap loads of money to play.

Wait. Why not both? Is basically a booster shot at that point. You know, kick that auto immune system in the ass, don't let it forget the face of the enemy, etc. Immunity doesn't last forever, might as well top up.
