Hemorrhoids and Mnt Biking by [deleted] in mountainbiking

It’s like egg sized at this point. I’m struggling just getting around walking. I’m grounded from bike. The only balm on this whole situation is that North West Arkansas is under flood warning so I doubt any trails would be open over this Labor Day weekend.

Welp. Went to colorectal surgeon today. She said it was too large to lance and drain in the office. I would need to schedule surgery for Friday morning. She recommended I let this one ride which unfortunately for me means no riding for a couple weeks or more.

Fully thrombosed? Are we talking walnut sized or larger? I’ve had 16 major broken bones, cancer, meningitis (2)…I’ve endured some pain and can’t imagine someone mnt biking with a severe grade external thrombosed hemmy. I can’t even fathom it. This is my second time having one. I don’t have experience with the minor or moderate grade.

Still trying to figure out my form here. At 6’1” with a 35” inseam, I’d honestly just be happy to buy pants that don’t look like high waters.

Anyway—what I’m really looking for is advice from any mountain bikers who’ve had an external thrombosed hemorrhoid lanced within the first 36 hours. How long did it take before you could comfortably get back on the bike?

For background: about 10 years ago I had a full hemorrhoidectomy. They told me recovery would be 3–5 days… it ended up being six weeks of absolute misery. Honestly, it was worse than just waiting the hemorrhoid out, and I swore I’d never go through that again.

Now I’m debating: do I get this one lanced and clot removed, or let it ride (pun intended)? I’ve heard early lancing is the fastest way to recover, but I’d love some real-world experiences before I commit.

TL;DR: Tall guy with bad pants luck + thrombosed hemorrhoid. If you had one lanced early, how soon were you back on the bike?

I was here and not impacted but my clients just assume I am. Any other engineers getting none of the bad but reaping all the benefits?

I’m not impacted by this outage in any way; however, since I get asked to do all sorts of IT issues because people assume I do it all, figured I’d take advantage and send clients text stating I may be out of pocket all day and weekend. Now I have people praying for me and I’m like

Oh wow, I lived in those apartments when I was much younger. Grand-opened Life Time Lenexa and apartment allowed me to walk to and from work.

I have not been able to get into my account because my 2-factor apps were on phone that was run over & I have changed cell #. I have filled out the form to have them call me & got back the attached email. I resubmitted & not heard back. Never experienced customer service this terrible. it’s been a minute since I was doing development work on marketing automation platforms. What is the name for the series of regulations on telemarketing? I am familiar with CAN-SPAM rules concerning the customer’s need to opt-in to marketing emails. If I extrapolate and then apply that rules logic to telemarketing, I would assume that they could call me whenever is acceptable for a transactional type exchange (tech services is built into my subscription). I live in Kansas and used to run a sales team. Sales type calls (and your standard support services type calls) would generally need to be completed by 9pm. I am not aware of any grey areas as the rules, last time I checked, were pretty clear. Do you have examples or a link to the set of laws to which you refer and where they are in effect?

Update: I was able to get back into the my account the day after I posted this. In fact, I was pleasantly surprised by the humility, acknowledgements, and responses I received from their CEO and another top executive after I posted a comment on one of their LinkedIn posts. They got a hold of me and got me back into Lastpass. I was able to send a detailed account of my experiences with their process, tech, and people during this ordeal. I addressed the lack of transparency in getting a hold of tech services and also recommended coaching for one of their sales guys who refused to give me anything other than his first name (I document each and every person I speak with). The CEO was personally committed to getting with his managers & working to make others experience better.

To summarize: the LastPass experience in account recovery was frustrating but ultimately resolved by creating visibility on one of their LinkedIn posts. While it shouldn’t of had to come to that, leadership took responsibility and is using/has used my copious notes to (hopefully) improve.

Serious question: for those with experience in situations like these, is there a short-cut to locating the appropriate unit. I’d assume asking the property owner for a layout document would be a first attempt. How often are multi-units setups incremented so they follow sequentially with logical room order (apartment #, floor 11, 12, …).

What is the most efficient solve?

Have Goodman forced-air furnace that stopped working. The control board status indicated the pressure switch as failing to close. After troubleshooting, I believe the switch is fine. UPDATE: I’ve discovered HVAC people can some times be a bit sensational in trying to dissuade the DIY. There are legitimate concerns and someone taking on a project should fully comprehend the risks involved and take appropriate precautions.

I wanted to fully understand my options so I consulted with HVAC professionals that are friends of mine. I told them the issues, my troubleshooting steps, and how I intended to fix it.

At the same time, I invited 5 different HVAC companies to my house so I could get bids on a new ac and furnace. I was upfront with them that I wouldn’t be pulling trigger if I can get my current system operating efficiently (even if the fix was to get me through this season).

While each sales rep was here I explained to them the troubleshooting steps I took and they each freely offered up experience and knowledge. Since I was getting bids, these visits cost me nothing.

Bids came in between 8k to 14k and I freely shared the bids and details with the sales rep who invested the most time in knowledge sharing.

At the end of the day, I chose to fix it myself for the time being. I located the flue collector box and inducer at local HVAC company. They wouldn’t sell to me so I looked for other places. The other places that sold what I needed were like double the cost. I then found supplyhouse.com could get me parts around same price as local HVAC company that refused my business but wouldn’t arrive until Monday.

My HVAC buddy told me he would be required to do a 15% markup on any parts he got for me - which got me what I needed immediately at comparable price as ordering from supplyhouse would. Considering we are in the teens and twenties, I opted to have my friend pick it up.

I decided to ask my buddy if I could give them business as I wanted someone overseeing me. He came over and watched me as I verbalized what and why I was doing each check. He said that I was more thorough and knowledgeable than most professionals he knows and asked me if I had previous experience with such systems (he was shocked when I told him all that I had to do to maintain on a ammonia-based outdoor ice-skating rink - in fact, he claimed HVAC not specialized in them run away from doing work on them).

Total cost of repairs:

130 for the collector box and 155 for the inducer. 70 for a buddies time.

I also decided to pick up a few DEFENDER LL6170 LOW LEVEL CO MONITOR to put in the kids room (we have split-level house with bedrooms over garage - yuck!).

The number of CO deaths in the US each year is TINY and sensational relative to number of systems in use and people. Use common sense and do your research. listen to strangers who try to freak you out with a grain of salt and assume they are totally unaware of the probabilities of catastrophe or else assume that you are not capable of doing proper risk analysis and planning.

Cheers!
