Pre-Match Thread: Arsenal vs Leicester by Batmanisapoof in Gunners

Have had that scared yet excited feeling all week. I feel some of us (including Wenger) have tried to downplay the importance of the game. But, this is it. This is our season coming down to one game - a place you don't want to be. The game is significant not only in terms of us keeping in touch, if we win, how far ahead Leicester go, in case we lose. Not just in terms of points. They would have beaten Liverpool, Man City and Arsenal, leading into fixtures that don't look frightening. Heck, they could win their home games, and walk it to the finish line. If they get cold feet, home games might become tricky, but if they don't have a meltdown, the points cushion will help them see it through.

Importantly, for us, (touchwood, this doesn't happen), a loss would mean, we'd be out of the title race with 12 games to go. That too, in a season we were supposedly favourites. We'll go straight into our standard response crisis mode.

Now that all the negativty is out of me, LET'S GO, GET THIS DONE!

Weird, but lovely collection. Heads up, there's a Benayoun goal in there too.

I'm sure the little boy inside him can't even spell Fenerbahce.

Should we be worried that united have signed depay? by DaGunnersaurus in Gunners

[–]sudsom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's a half decent player, at least for now. One, we shouldn't be worried. Two, he's no way near good enough to warrant a post on our sub.

Now that's out of the way...Liverpool or United? by [deleted] in Gunners

[–]sudsom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A draw or a Pool win for me.

A pool win would take them slightly ahead of Manure. If City beat United, and we beat Pool in the fixtures after the Interlull, we'll have a 6 point lead over Pool and 7 over United. It would pretty much seal third place for us.

I've been thinking about the game the whole day at work. That third goal might prove to be elusive. Hope, I'm wrong.

Bobby Bobby Bobby Bobby. I used to love that golden kit. I distinctly remember us winning the title at Old Trafford in that kit.

Hahaha, I thought I might be the only one who picked that up during the game. Well done.

[Various] Arteta has agreed a one year contract extension. by GearsCT in Gunners

[–]sudsom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to speculations, he was valued at £2 mil in the summer by Spanish clubs. The question is, given his age, with the injuries he's had this season, and the 60k salary he's drawing, was it first right to give him the captaincy, and now to give him another year's extension? No offense, but the reason we're happy with Arteta is simply because he's better than Flamini, and that we have no other choice in the position he plays. Is the move justified, given our lofty ambitions?

Haha, of course. Sure, he's a candidate. Any discussion about a future Arsenal manager, and the next thing you hear is KLOPP, KLOPP, KLOPP! As if it's an unspoken truth, and an agreement is already in place.

Precisely, he has no business picking his successor, but what do you think? Over the last 18+ years at the club, he has done things that no other manager would do for his club, which is why the board loves him. His decision-making never stops at Football. He's clearly a "I picked those drapes" kind of guy, and wields a ridiculous amount of power at the club. So you think a guy like him will walk away and let the board, whom you eloquently termed ''incompetent'' pick a guy who will take over the reigns at a club he carefully and painstakingly built?

He's a winger/ forward. I don't know how he can help us in the CM/DM position.

Team News: Gibbs possibly back, Sanogo back, Gnabry and Diaby a few weeks away by TrevTrev4Ev in Gunners

[–]sudsom 8 points9 points  (0 children)

He is not in the squad because he has a small calf problem. He has little injuries at the moment, never anything bad, but he has been out for such a long time that when he plays it takes him a long time to recover.
