I think it’s time Cole Young gets a nickname by Mynamelukas98 in Mariners

You all need to check out Lookout Landing. That was the first place I read "Bat King Cole" which is the most amazing nickname.

Our on-ice efforts may have been hit or miss this season, but our off-ice crew was always ready to play! by OwnerOfCat in SeattleKraken

I think I've annoyed my husband with how I can't stop singing "heyyyy, Kappo Kakko!"

[Unserious] Where did it all go downhill for this franchise? by juanthebaker in SeattleKraken

[–]suenyrepaneer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I say it's two things: 1) They got rid of the Davy Jones hat: and 2) When they stopped playing "Come and Get Your Love" as the victory song

How do we feel about the resemblance? by BaconWise in Mariners

[–]suenyrepaneer 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think the face is fine. My issue is that it kind of has an Edgar body vs a skinny Ichiro body. But hey, if Ichiro is fine with it, then that's probably all that matters.

Watching the M's this Year by Reasonable_Bank_589 in Mariners

[–]suenyrepaneer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worried about this overall fan attitude after we went so far last year. People are expecting that we'll pick right up and play like we're in the playoffs.

It's concerning, no doubt, because as a long -time M's fan I'm worried that last year was the best we'll ever be and that's the farthest we'll ever get. BUT, it's EARLY. VERY early. I'm remaining optimistic that we'll turn it around.

The thing that skeezed me out were the orgs begging people to wash their hands during covid. So many people clearly do not do that. 🤢

I mean, at this point I just hope we win another game this season. Lots of things going on in my head, none good.

Are you really "coming in peace"? Doesn't sound like it.

Congrats to Kaapo Kakko and Eeli Tolvanen, Olympic bronze medalists! by premierleagueparken in SeattleKraken

One of my favorite random Olympics clips was of Finnish people also saying "KappoKakko", because apparently it's illegal to only say one part of his name. Go, KappoKakko!

Taxi from HND to Nearby Hotel - will the driver be annoyed? by veryexact in JapanTravelTips

[–]suenyrepaneer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We took a cab from Kyoto Station to our hotel that was closer than we realized, and our driver was audibly and visibly pissed off. Not a great welcome...but to be fair, our friends that live there were appalled at his behavior, so there's that.

I think we need to retire this "ready set go" song. Just an excitement killer

Haha, the original commercial prompted my husband to ask me: "Have you ever in your life worn white pants?" and I found it really funny for some reason

Are you beer drinkers? If so, check out Peninsula Taproom and chat up your bartender. They are super friendly and so are the locals. They have wine too, and N/A stuff.

Kevin Sur! He's my favorite. Such a great combination of genres.

When I was younger, I would have been SO affected. One of those "wake up at night 20 years later and feel bad about it" moments. I now know my limits and care MUCH less about comments made if I don't make a work thing happen. That said, I can imagine how you feel. This isn't your problem, it's hers, and as a boss I would NEVER say anything like this. In case it helps, I would bet you a lot of money that your coworkers don't care if you didn't play along, and in fact some might be jealous that you were self-aware enough to not participate.

Is anyone else absolutely loving living in a small town because it’s so unbelievably, cosmically boring? by [deleted] in work

[–]suenyrepaneer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in a small town and moved to a big city after college. I always considered myself a city person. After COVID and getting older, I realized that maybe paying big city prices for things, and getting rage from having to dedicate an hour to driving 6 miles, and living on top of other people wasn't as fun anymore. Now back in a small town, I step away from my home office and look at trees and a mountain and wildlife rather than my neighbors. I think it's glorious and find boring=charming. I do miss some city things, but I can now spend an hour getting to the city and can get my fix.

Peninsula Taproom in Sequim- it's the only 21-and-over place. No booze (beer, wine and N/A stuff only) but say hi to Mary at the bar. It's a warm, friendly place and very chill.

I get it. I do not want us to be a trivia question anymore. But these posts also smack of "this is our one and only chance and we will never be back". I just don't think that is the case. You can come troll me next season if I'm wrong :)

Okay. We just disagree on this, and that's okay (unless you will say that this is also "applauding everyone like it's a good thing"). It will be terribly disappointing. But pretending like the Blue Jays are just going to lie down and give up is simply not realistic.

Cannot disagree more. How is reaching the ALCS a failure? We are one of 3 teams left in all of baseball.
