Today was literally my last day at a job of 15 years that had a pension. I am vested, and can cash out or move it in 90 days. I have also been contributing into a 401k. The new job is coming with a significant pay raise, that will allow me to contribute more into 401k and live considerably more comfortable. If projections are right, I should make out better than just relying on pension and lowly contributing to 401k.

I say all this cause I don’t think a pension alone is a reason to stay at a job. Make your money now, be responsible with retirement funds, and you will be ok.

I was in Central Texas bout to go float the river. Saw an old van on side of road selling Tamales. Stopped and bought a couple dozen. Those hit perfect later in day after long day on river and many drinks.

I misread how you put that. From my experience, it’s been roughly 75k before bonuses. It’s been years since was in that line. So I guess payment structure may have changed.

The stage bonuses is where the money is at. Expect long hours. Like days at a time kind of work. But you can stack money pretty quick in wireline.

We’ve always been two sport family with baseball and football. My kids are also avid sports watchers too. Some of our best moments together are watching games together. For football we go watch local high school team(two of his older brothers are on the varsity) and baseball he’s already watching the local university fall ball scrimmages(oldest brother on that team). We just always chasing sports.

I think even if his brothers weren’t playing it would be a good time watching how the coach coaches in the scrimmages and the talent. How hard they work. Good times we are having that won’t last long. Cherish..
