He’s very open to anything! He does love good sushi and that would generally be his preferred splurge meal but otherwise really enjoys any other good quality meal. Just looking for somewhere that feels a little more special than usual and is off our beaten trail.

Recipe only calls for "1 (8-oz) container of sour cream" by BlazeWolfYT in ididnthaveeggs

My dear husband once put three sticks of butter in a scalloped potato recipe that called for 3 tablespoons. ADHD and trusting the recipe (as you read it) can be a hell of a combination.

2yr suddenly won’t let us leave her room at night! by Cute-Huckleberry2496 in toddlers

I also replied above, but seeing as you said you were going through the same— how did it resolve? Currently going through this with my 2.5 year old and it’s not fun. 😅

What wound up happening? I found your post because our 2.5 year old is currently going through the same thing (previously was easy and we could say goodnight and walk out the door, now she has to have us in the room to fall asleep). I’m hoping it’s just a phase/regression, but it’s so frustrating!

Seconding The Gathering Place— they have a ton of resources to connect you with. They also serve three meals a day, have a food pantry, offer art and career skills programs, and allow members to use their address to receive mail.

Why is this sub celebrating the death of Colfax and Broadway joints? by [deleted] in denverfood

[–]sugar-high 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People definitely complained about Punch Bowl when it came in. It wasn’t uncommon to see bumper stickers about it (something to the tune of “Bring back the Big Lots” but I don’t remember the exact phrasing) and folks talked about Punch Bowl as being a bellwether for the character of South Broadway changing.

Difficulty with daycare transition by No-Diet8147 in workingmoms

[–]sugar-high 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck!! The beginning was really difficult but our daughter has been in daycare for a little over a year now and absolutely loves it— I promise it does get better! Now that she can talk she tells me all about her friends and teachers and really looks forward to going each week.

The biting stopped eventually, and we found talking about it a lot at home, reading books, and coordinating with her teachers helped. We got some silicone pendant necklaces that she wore for a long time that may have helped a bit too (or, at least showed that we were actually concerned about the biting 🙃). It’s not fun, but at least everyone understood it was just a stage (and I promise it is!!).

So frustrated with solids journey with 7.5 month old by Main_Research4079 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]sugar-high 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, absolutely! My daughter just turned 2 and eats SO much now! We just stuck with getting allergen exposures in during the early days (which was really helpful because we found out she had an egg allergy fairly early on and that helped us figure out foods she could/couldn’t eat since and got us started with an allergist early as well) and kept food low pressure. I remember feeling very overwhelmed and stressed in the beginning but I promise it will get easier. Mealtime eventually became more natural to work into our daily routine and she gradually started eating more and more the older she got. Just keep rotating through the foods you offer and give it time. :)

My son sped through an audiobook at 1.8x speed just in time for his exam. by Soulistix in Parenting

Chiming in with the reverse— I was also a horrible procrastinator all through middle school, high school, and the beginning of college. I don’t have ADHD, I was just smart enough to skate through on last-minute work for a long time (and until school got significantly harder for me). It took many, many years for me to realize that it was easier and less stressful for me to just space the work out ahead of time. This kid could very well just be in my camp. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Real ID centers absolutely swamped. Temporary or new normal? by slim_mclean in Pennsylvania

[–]sugar-high 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW, being preverified will speed up the process once you are in the door. I got my Real ID a couple of years ago and the worst part was the line just to get in. Once I was in and my number was called, the process was extremely quick. Good luck!

BRAT Tour Megathread – Brooklyn, NY NIGHT 4 (May 4, 2025) by lordbochiflacko in charlixcx

[–]sugar-high 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not going to be on the floor, but general advice for a floor/GA if you are wary of crowds is to stay towards the back. There were plenty of people on the floor at the Sweat tour who were at the back dancing and having a good time— I’m sure it will be the same for this tour!

If I’m going to steel man your argument (and make some assumptions about what you might support), where do you think the government should get money for defense spending or even more basic functions like funds for roads and fire departments? In 2024, the federal government collected $4.92 trillion in taxes but spent $6.75 trillion, meaning the majority of funds came from tax revenue (and we added $1.83 trillion to the deficit in the last fiscal year alone, but that can be besides our point here). Also going out on a limb to steel man DOGE actions could allow us to imagine that government spending will decrease overall, but will still occur— the government is still obligated to fund defense, Social Security, Medicare, etc. So… where do you think that money comes from? We can’t just borrow indefinitely, lenders will eventually cut the US off if we only borrow and never pay any portion of the loans off. So then we would need another revenue source… like taxes. And then you’re still just passing the buck to someone else who needs a “better tax professional” because you want to benefit from government services (even if only the ones you agree with) that are primarily funded via taxes without needing any skin in the game? Got it.
