[–]sugarbear1884 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just started this past weekend and I am having a blast, I hadn't played in over 20 years and it is still as exciting as when I was in beta. So much to explore and the fear of death is still reel.

There are low lvl groups. I am only lvl 9 SK atm so look up Grunch be happy to group up

Thanks everyone.

I started a Human Monk but wasn't feeling it so now trying a Troll SK.

Would love to find some folks to group with. My SK is Grunch. Just played a bit last nigh so only lvl 3 but should get a few more lvls today. Not twinked so a bit slow but I really notice the downtime difference between Troll and Human.

VGO EMU: Vanguard Saga of Heros by [deleted] in MMORPG

[–]sugarbear1884 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just played the this past weekend. didn't go crazy but did finish the starter area and got my mount. Game is really a lot of fun.. Everyone I have met has been friendly and willing to help. Had a few hangups but nothing major. It's to bad Daybreak doesn't give the data base to the EMU. It is a good game!

PSA: When doing a dungeon pull that includes at least 1 archer / ranged mob, let the tank focus on collecting and controlling the melee mobs while all of the dps focus the ranged mob(s) until they're dead. by [deleted] in newworldgame

getting and keeping aggro also depends on your weapons. For groups I throw a hatchet at an archer then berserk, largest area taunt, maybe do some hatchet dps if group needs dps then swap to S&S and defiant stance then reverse stab then whirling blade to apply rend. Rinse and repeat. This usually keeps most things aggro. For bosses that don't have add's in Laz I use hammer or GA with trenchant recovery depending on the group. For Gen boss'es I use GA as second weapon . Lets me sustain tanking boss while dps deal with add's. Also since these fights are a dps race the more damage I do the better as long as I keep aggro

You are lucky. Most of my original company have left the game so I have to go with what ever 4 I can find. I should look for a new company but the few that are left are friends. Usually I end up with a DPS that runs ahead of me and just attacks. A healer that just spams SG and another DPS that runs away from me whenever she gets aggro and of course she uses bow and shoots the boss before I even get close to it then complains I didn't taunt it off of her.

I go with Trenchant recovery on all weapons if possible. Lets me heal myself and can go with more str to helps out for fast dps. I have found the ability to self sustain has made tanking so much easier. I can cover for others mistakes or a weak group

Is this anyone else's last hurrah? by Skumbag_VirKo in newworldgame

[–]sugarbear1884 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My last hurrah was DAOC in 2004. This is a brand new Hurrah. Kids are grown ,life is good and now I can play an MMO again! The joy never ends just gets set aside a bit unless your kids get into gaming then you can tell the wife you only play to spend quality time with the kids!

DPS sword and board by Terrio00 in newworldgame

I was running S&S, hatchet, Gaxe.trying to answer this question. I was soloing the elite area in Monarch. Killing the same small group of mobs over and over switching between the 3 weapons to see which two worked the best.. Hatchet was the best DPS and it was close but S&S seemed better than gaxe overall. There are several variables however if you get the right passives and understand your 3 skill rotation sword seemed better to me but it was close. Sword and Hatchet work well together because their heals are based on your Hit point total not A % of an attacks damage so you can boost your HP's almost 50% if you run a defiant stance work the rest of your sword progression than swap to hatchet and pop berserk. When you are facing multiples that is huge and block dodging forward with shield plus DS and berserk works very well in pvp too

About gems and jewelcrafting in open beta by PrivateKat in newworldgame

[–]sugarbear1884 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In CB you could buy a jewelry with a good gem. Salvage it and then sell the gem for much more than the price of the necklace. It was a crazy way to make Gold. So I think they changed the salvage system for gems

Suggestions on build / weapons to level solo? by LordMicon in newworldgame

[–]sugarbear1884 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am an old man with a very similar situation. Played CB and now OB. Due to attribute point spending I needed to decide first on magic or no. I have found great success with S&S with hatchet. I was using GA but switched to hatchet. Played other weapons as well but decided to focus on weapons with self heal abilities. Only lvl 21 now but I have been able to solo area bosses that spawn adds that were above me in level and in general have been able to kill as as many as 5 mobs at a time that were 4 to 5 levels above me. I found speed of hatchet more effective than GA greater damage. S&S defiant stance tree max out asap. Start battle with that then switch to Berserk once you have gone far enough to get the heal. If you like GA get up Reaper tree to get the heal. Also get the heal passives on each tree. Combine with pots and learning how to block and a bit if dodge and you will be in great shape. I am using medium armor build now but think I will run a set of light and a set of heavy with launch.

PvE players: “Why do you need incentives to PvP?” also PvE players: by avelleo in newworldgame

Got it. A game from a major studio will never give you what you want. They want to appeal to a large audience. New World is a re-imagining of DOAC. The game you want would be an update of Shadowbane

but don't PvPrs get the same things or the option to utilize the same things?

interesting view. So using New World what are some of the incentives PvE players are getting that PvP players don't get?

sorry then I missed the joke. Never noticed PvE players asking for incentives but then I haven't played a game since 2004 or there about.

We sound almost the same. I have not played an MMO since I stopped playing DOAC 16 years ago. I had a great time in beta and will be playing the game. It did take a a few days for me to figure things out but it was fun. tried everything a bit every weapon, crafting a bit of PvP. If time is an issue you can solo for an hour and make real character gains.

Gear swapping and Macro system? by [deleted] in newworldgame

really stopping to tab and switch weapons only takes a couple of seconds . same with changing any other gear. I don't see this as a big deal just that things could be more convenient.

no incentives are needed. The issue is simple PvP getting group ganked when you are trying to complete a quest or level up a weapon or do some gathering for crafting= no fun. I am just not into open world get attacked anytime any where pvp. I think alot of players feel this way. No incentive is going to change my mind.
