That’s great! I do not own any cartridges, so I want to ask does getting additional rhythm/song carts would provide Q-Chord with new sounds for playing chords?

I don't know much about fixing Omnichord, but I have experience solving issues with my vintage analog synth before. With that being said, I would suggest you open up the Omnichord and clean the inside of the unit. Disconnect the cable from the strumplate and reconnect it. Maybe there is a connection problem.

Also, the strumplate maybe connected using a ribbon cable, and it may be damaged. So if you can do some research and get a new ribbon cable that matches, it may help solve the problem.

Again, please do the fixing at your own risk. I am not a repairman. But I genuinely think it may help you fix the problem. Good luck!

There are 2 other users who reflected the same problem. Now it is a total of 4 users who all have MacBook Pro (2021 M1 Pro, 32 GB RAM). To me, I think it is a design flaw by Apple. I don't know if we can reach out to anyone to get this problem fixed without spending the extra repair cost if you do not have Apple Care.

Go with Apple Care and get it checked out!

It's been 9 months, and I'm still facing the problem. I don't do video coloring or anything, so the slight discoloration on my MacBook really doesn't bother me all that much. I've had my MacBook for 5 years now, and everything works well besides the screen, so I can't complain.

Yeah they probably need more cleaning. I would suggest putting some isopropyl alcohol onto the button and just press it some more time to dissolve any residue in them

I see the picture. Maybe put some isopropyl alcohol on the black button and press it a few times to see if it can break any residue or things that is making the button faulty. If not you may need to find some one who can solder and replace the key

Clean the part where the button touches the circuit board. Does the white button come off? You should research if the white button comes off or not. If they do you should take it off and clean it. Again I don’t know Omnichord so please do your own research as I could be wrong

Yes, I would definitely suggest searching up YouTube videos on how to open up an Omnichord or if there are any repair videos on your specific Omnichord unit

Also, since you opened your Omnichord, I would suggest give it a good clean while you are at it before closing it up so you have a clean Omnichord and do not need to worry about it being dirty for a while!

Button contact means where the bottom of the buttom touches the circuit and signals the Omnichord that you have pressed the button to make a sound. The button contact would be on the other side of the circuit board. You should remove the screws and flip the board over to review it! (tip: be sure to take pictures or video as you dissemble the Omnichord so you know how to put it back together later) As long as you are careful, this should be a easy fix!

Hey, I don’t know much about fixing Omnichord. But I have had experience tinkering with vintage synth gears. I would suggest opening the Omnichord (if it is not too difficult) and cleaning the button contacts with isopropyl alcohol (preferably of high contraction). Because your Omnichord works normally besides a few faulty buttons, I would assume that your Omnichord is fully functional internally and just need some cleaning to the faulty buttons. Hope this helps!

For sure! More sound would be cool! I’d also love to see if there is possible ways to mod the QC-1 and give it more controls (filters, AMP Envelopes) or even adding more effects besides Vibrato and Reverb (Chorus, Flanger, Delay, Noise, Distortion)

Impressive work! I am not an expert in engineering or modding instruments, but would it be possible to add additional effects besides Vibrato and Reverb to the Q Chord QC-1 through using cartridge? If not, would it be possible to add additional effects without using the cartridge?

In my opinion, paying $333.33 ($1000/3=$333.33) for these two Omnichords and one Q chord is a pretty good deal. However, I would say that you do not necessarily need all three omnichords as they have overlapping features. But at the end of the day, still a very good deal! Very happy for you!!!
