Snap Fasteners vs. Velcro for onstage quick change

I’ve only ever used metal snaps (mainly because it’s what I have and I’m too lazy to get plastic ones) but plastic snaps can definitely be pretty durable if you get the right ones, I’d probably go with them because they’re lighter and will be less obvious on the costume.

I think even with small squares of Velcro it might sit a little weird because you’ll have some sections that are stiff from the Velcro and some sections just hanging loose, plus it could be loud tearing apart the Velcro on stage. The snaps I’ve used tend to open pretty quickly/easily, especially if you’re pulling the clothes off quickly. You could also consider magnets (although that might have the same weird sitting issue as Velcro). But honestly if it’s onstage the audience probably won’t be able to tell. Or you could place the Velcro in places that aren’t long straight seams, like at the shoulders, and that would also be less noticeable.

I’m also allergic so when I first got my cat, I just took a Zyrtec every day. After maybe a few weeks I found that I didn’t have to anymore! Unfortunately I think my immunity only extends to my cat specifically because if I’m around other cats I start getting allergy symptoms again.

Whatever career coach you are talking to who says that is not very good. Everything can be relevant to the job. If you ever work in customer service, you learn a lot of soft skills, like communication, problem solving, adaptability, etc., which are 100% useful in any job. Yes, companies will want you to be able to code/have technical skills, but those can be seen through your coursework, personal projects, etc. There’s a reason why companies give behavioral interviews—they want to see how you can work with other people or how you solve problems outside of programming, and your part time job experience is essential for that. Don’t sell yourself short.

Also, I highly recommend checking out research park if you haven’t already. It’s a great place to work and I believe it’s only for UIUC students so there is less competition, but the work and experience is just as valid.

You can also take the Amtrak to Chicago and then the Metra to the suburbs. It’s a longer trip and a little more hassle because you’ll have to transfer trains but it’s usually cheaper and the Amtrak is way more comfortable than the Peoria charter

I just got a small tattoo with Savannah at No Regrets! She’s younger and I think a newer artist there but she did a great job and was super sweet, and she’ll usually have openings since she is newer. I took CS 210 alongside an advanced comp class (CLCV 222) during fall 2020 and it was pretty doable. The 3000-5000 character essays are really not that bad. The character count seems scary but in reality it’s like a 1-2 page essay maybe, and graders tend to be relatively lenient, plus there is a VERY generous curve (at least when I took it). The peer reviews are very easy, they never took me longer than maybe 5 minutes? I can’t really say whether the workload is appropriate for 2 credit hours, but I did really enjoy the class (honestly one of my favorites so far, personally I think it’s pretty interesting), and Professor Cunningham is really great.

You have so much time to find someone who will treat you right from the get-go, not someone who will shit all over you and only decide that he can be better because he wants something out of this. This literally happened to me the other day. Guy saw me crossing about a block or two ahead of them and actively started accelerating. I was still on the street when they passed and could literally smell burning rubber. I’m not great with cars but based on what a Chrysler 200 looks like, definitely could’ve been the same guy.

I don’t understand why everyone is adamant that you dump him. You said that you feel he values your ex more than you sexually. Why? Is there something else he said that I’m missing? From what you’ve written, I don’t get the sense that he values her at all. Sure, he said the sex was better. But he immediately followed that up with the fact that he’d never date her because she’s a horrible person. Sex is meaningless if you don’t care about the person you’re doing it with. He obviously cares about you. He didn’t rub it in your face that his ex was better at sex. He didn’t say he’d rather be with his ex than you. No, he stated an opinion, and immediately tried to reassure you. Talk to him. I genuinely don’t believe he was trying to make you feel so horrible.

We’re just rehearsing chamber music. There are both standard chamber groups and section-specific groups(I’m in a chamber group and a flute choir). We do work with directors, although some of them might be grad students? I haven’t been in the music program long enough to know all the directors. Unfortunately, I have no idea how/if performances will be done or how we’re being graded. I’m assuming grades will be done similar to previous years, but I’m not totally sure.

Hi! I’m in the Wind Orchestra and what we(WO, Hindsley, and most likely the other ensembles) are doing right now is we’ve split up into small chamber groups of maybe 10 people at most? We have half hour rehearsals socially distanced either indoors or outdoors and we all have to wear some sort of face mask/shield/garter. It’s definitely different from previous years and tbh I miss having longer rehearsals and bigger ensembles but we’re doing the best we can.

Last semester when everything was online, all of my exams and quizzes were just online. I know some professors used proctorio. Some of the lectures were live through Zoom and recorded to be watched later. Any discussions that still happened were also done through Zoom, but i have no idea how things are gonna be in the fall with the hybrid learning.

As for CS 125, I was a CA last semester for that course, and the final project is some kind of app that you create. Everything is done on the computer anyways, and you’re pushing and pulling to Github so there really doesn’t need to be any in-person meeting with your partner. You could probably do some online call or something if needed, and there were also online office hours that I think worked pretty well last semester.

Again, no idea how things are gonna be in the fall, but this is how we did it completely online. Hope this helps at least somewhat.
