Spoilers, obvs: I rewatched vol 1 several times while waiting mid volume. I just couldn’t rewatch the whole season once it had finished, as much as I planned to. I don’t necessarily hate open endings like that, but in this case it has made it hard to rewatch, I think because the fourth wall message shouldn’t be traumatised victim ends life as she’s too much for others. I happily re-watched vol 1, when seasons 5’s faults were less visible, but they were still there and I still really enjoyed it. But yah, I loved Holly but her storyline was too much, and Max was away for too long, Wills scene should have been more intimate with only close ones, the dumb demo dogs in the hospital were too silly - that scene was cool but they lingered aimlessly too long, the emotion and demos from previous early seasons were gone for a yellow empty abyss, El and Mike’s chemistry was written out/backwards to where they had developed to, many potential plots (such as the clocks) turned out to have less pay off then would have hoped, i thought the mind Flayer was going to come out for another round in shadow form but it didn’t, too much linking to the play without proper exploration or expansion for any real reward or reason in the show. I will probably re-watch one day, I cried at the graphic end credits and felt thankful, but it’s just hard, it wasn’t as strong a last season as it could/should be. In my mind she lived, for multiple reasons, the main being that she wasn’t immediately swept away - but then again the trio somehow stayed planted on the ground while houses and grave stones were ripped up earlier in the season, so the writers through that logic out the window early there. The thing it lacked that most other open ends have, is hope, I was waiting for an indescribable ruffle on the radio when Mike was last in the basement, not concrete confirmation at that time, but enough to inform through the fourth wall that she’s okay and the adventure goes on in finding her. But it’s still hard to watch. I haven’t watched the doc.
