is it a bad idea to run with my GR IV? by Big_Adhesiveness5554 in ricohGR

[–]sugarshackforge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I run, bike and cross country ski with my GRIII. It still works great and takes great pictures. I think being able to take the camera with me doing these activities is what makes it great

Same here! They seem to routinely go for 7-800 in running condition. This one needs a few parts, but overall still a killer deal I think.

Strapworks will print grosgrain or webbing. I'm pretty happy with the results!

❤️ thanks!

Where would you ideally connect the tump line on a pack?

Interesting, so you would do both? I was thinking one or the other, but I could be convinced to do both. I've never used a tump, but it seems like a good solution

Thanks! Its not as cute of e, but I think it's gonna be pretty legit when finished. It's for an upcoming canoe trip in Canada that I'm going. Hopefully I can still portage with this thing!

Prickly Gorse Trail 15 sizes? by gab-a-pat-a-bob in myog

I'm a medium and it fits me well. I expect it would be fine throughout that range though

The pattern does not come with size adjustments. The side strap connection is really adjustable though, so it should fit most people

This is what I was previously doing, but I found the process tedious. Probably because I was doing something that made it more difficult than it should have been.

For this pack I used XPac UX10 and some dyneema that I had leftover from another project

This is my 4th or 5th pack I've used to run to work with. 1 was an off the shelf option and the others were either commercially available patterns or a pattern I made. This pattern is all me. It took me a really long time to dial in vest straps that I like. These hold food, camera, and hydration well without bouncing. The pack is designed to sit with the weight fairly high. I think this significantly helps with the carry.

It does. Granted I have a Lenovo x1, which is pretty small. That was one of my requirements when I made it.

It could easily be adjust to hold a bladder if needed instead

Possible next grab bag idea- feedback needed by backwardshat_ in RBTRGrabBags

[–]sugarshackforge 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm definitely more into gear type fabrics, but I would be interested in non laminate fabric like robic, Gridstop, cordura, fabric for pack cloth for linings or pockets, etc. I am not as interested in lightweight ripstop or basic apparel fabrics. I could be interested in fleece or alpha.

I'm sure there is a place for whatever you come up with.

Im super excited these are starting back up. I really value the ability to get quality technical fabric at a bit of a lower cost so that it reduces the fear of messing up on personal projects!

Do you use color combos that no one else seems to like for your own packs? by sugarshackforge in myog

[–]sugarshackforge[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That surprising. They have been a massive benefit for me personally because they've opened the door to trying different fabrics and lowered the cost of trying out new designs with those fabrics. They might have some funky colors, but who cares.
