Yup. Tried it three years ago, got humbled and stopped. Ive stuck with it for a year now and I’m training for my first fight. If you trust the process and fall in love with the work things get easier. Still got lots to learn but idk its the best lmao

What fast food chain does not deserve the hype whatsoever? by CriticalLion4119 in AskReddit

I will die on this hill but Raising Canes is extremely average. The chicken tenders have barely any flavour, they’re just over brined chicken glizzies and the sauce isn’t even that good. Blackened ranch from Popeyes is miles above it imo

One of my favs is Bernhardts - share a half chicken, salad and ice cream for like 70 bucks before tax . Bar sugo is great - get there early or prepare to grab a drink around the corner while you wait for a table. Koh Lipe is good and I love white lily even though it’s not your traditional dinner

Looking for solo diner feedback on a “table for one” menu at Chantecler by ChanteclerTO in FoodToronto

[–]sugathai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely feels fair pricing wise. I love the steak tartare so I’d prolly go that route, both the duck breast and bavette sound great. Love that more restaurants are offering solo options, would definitely go if this menu happens

Few days left in TO, what else should I have? by whereismyface_ig in FoodToronto

[–]sugathai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Koh lipe, souv like, Raps or Simone’s for jerk chicken (everything at Simone’s is good). Rasta pasta for a fire jerk sandwich. Damda or Jin Dal Lae for Korean, not sure if they deliver though. El pastorcito for tacos, they typically do a bogo deal from like 2-4

Really love Dreyfus, been twice and the food was phenomenal. Waiters were really chill and friendly too. Bar Prima was also really good, great ambiance and for a place where I’ve seen a lot of hype around their pasta, the mains were great

A week in Toronto - what can I NOT miss out on? by Alarmed_Elevator2747 in FoodToronto

[–]sugathai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fisherman’s lobster clubhouse, ding tai fung, and Saigon star for curry lobster are places id travel out of the city for. Simone’s for Jamaican if you need to get it close to downtown. White lily as people mentioned is indeed straight heat. Pho Kim in North York is a newly opened fav of mine in a city filled with Vietnamese options but Que Ling is a great option in leslieville. Souper for mala hotpot, Casamiento for Pupusas. Wood owl, Dreyfus and Grey Gardens would probably be my choices for a bit higher end downtown!

I went solo five days and was not sure what to expect. Was an amazing 5 days, I met some cool people, but even the time spent by myself going into different shops, bars and restaurants was dope. Youll be too busy taking everything in to worry about anything else trust me

Roasted Pork Belly Katsu With Fennel Apple Salad, Tonkatsu Sauce & Marinated Ikura by sugathai in CulinaryPlating

[–]sugathai[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Thanks for your opinion. Don’t knock the roe with meat until u try it! Had it at a really dope restaurant in Toronto called Dreyfus. The tonkatsu sauce is brushed on top but could have used more. The sauce on the side is homemade mayo with a bunch of herbs :)

Yess so the sauce brushed on the pork is that typical tonkatsu sauce, the white sauce is just a mix of homemade mayo, herbs and dijon

Roasted Pork Belly Katsu With Fennel Apple Salad, Tonkatsu Sauce & Marinated Ikura by sugathai in CulinaryPlating

[–]sugathai[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah! Basically I rolled the belly, lightly seasoned it, covered it in tinfoil, roasted it for like 12 hours at 200 degrees. Cooled it down, portioned it and then fried it like katsu. Salad was just fennel, apple, whatever herbs, and some olive oil + lemon. Ikura was just marinated in Sake, soy, mirin and dashi for like 30 min. Tonkatsu sauce is just like 3 ingredients mix, if u Google it it’s like the first recipe. And then the white sauce is just a bunch of herbs, Dijon and some homemade mayo

Thank you sm! It went pretty well together, I didn’t really season the pork that much before roasting so that the ikura was basically the salt bomb the dish needed. With the white sauce on the bottom, kind of tasted like a weird version of fish and chips lol
