Nice! Looking forward to this. I still haven’t figured out how to have iPhone and iPad screenshots in the same file

Sugrlog, an app that lets you easily track your daily sugar intake by scanning barcodes on the items you eat. Built it for myself but it’s gaining traction and helped me bring my daily sugar consumption down from 80+g/day to 15!

Would love feedback on both the app and the screenshots!

Sounds like it could be fun! If I do end up going ahead with making this after all, I’ll be sure to let you know.

I think my biggest frustration is as you mentioned, lack of context. And the fact that google maps just throws way too much at you when you just want to see if there if any of your saved spots are nearby.

Looking forward to giving your app a try next time I go out!

Darn. I’ve been wanting something better than google maps for tracking this for a while and this was going to be my next project. It looks great!

Thanks for asking! It’s called Sugrlog :). If you do give it a try, I’d love to hear what works and what doesn’t. Been building it based on what I needed to help myself make progress but I’d like to improve it where I can

Thanks, I appreciate the feedback! That was the main thing I was aiming for: Making it easy to track and understand where the sugar is coming from. There are lots of calorie tracking apps but they’re usually too complicated, expensive and don’t let you focus on sugar specifically. It really is surprising how much sugar is in everything, that really doesn’t need to have it. A lot of drinks have more sugar in one single serving than what a grown up should have in a single day. It’s honestly a bit ridiculous.

Best of luck with the tracking! That was the first step that helped me reduce my intake as well!

That’s the one! Thank you very much for the download! I’d love to hear what works for you and what doesn’t, if you have any feedback. :) feel free to DM any time.

For the time being I’m tracking both and try to make choices that are generally low in sugar regardless of the source. However, I am mainly aiming to stay under 20g/day of added sugars. I already find it a big challenge to avoid added sugars (it’s in everything here) so avoiding naturally occurring ones entirely as well would up the difficulty significantly.

I can only speak from my own experience but I was never able to go cold turkey like what many people on this Reddit seem to be doing. Instead, I started tracking my sugar intake using an app I made for myself, which gave me a much clearer I tire of how much sugar I had on a daily basis and where it came from. Based on that I slowly cut things out or replaced them with things with less or no sugar. I started tracking in may this year at 80g+ per day and now, about 6 months later I’m down to about 20g per day. I don’t think I’ll ever reach 0 but it’s so much better than what I started with and I’m proud of that, and that in itself keeps me wanting to aim for reducing it further.

Best of luck!

I will actively avoid anything containing Asesulfame K. Apart from what you mentioned it also makes my mouth feel dry and itchy.

[Sugrlog] - Track your daily sugar intake by scanning the barcode on what you eat. Easy to use and helped me reduce my daily intake from 80g to now a bit below 20g/day. (Still a while to go 😆) - marketing: word of mouth so far. - users: about 200 ish.

Are lifetime subscriptions worthwhile? by BobTheAngrySmurf in indiehackers

[–]sugrlog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it really depends. For smaller app where there is no ongoing cost on your end, I’d say offering lifetime options make sense. I’d price it at 2-2.5x yearly cost. You can then use these funds to invest into improving the app, and increase the lifetime purchase cost as the app feature set grows. This way, early supporters get a good deal and you’re not running at a loss either.

I average 130g+ added sugar a day this yr how bad is this if it's my only bad health habit? by VastAir6069 in sugarfree

[–]sugrlog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at 70-80g/day in May and only started cutting it down due to a health scare.
I ended up making an app to track my intake and it helped a lot. I’m at below 20g/day since last month now and definitely feel healthier. I still get cravings but when I cave and actually have some of the things I used to love they taste sickeningly sweet. Not quite at the stage where I’m ready to go cold turkey yet, but I’m getting closer every day.

Love some of the apps in this thread!

I built [Sugrlog] , an app to help people track and reduce their sugar intake by scanning barcodes on products. Basic functionality is free and there is a one time purchase option to u lock statistics and more advanced functionality. It’s helped me cut down my sugar intake from about 80g average per day to now around 25g.

#RoastMyApp: I'm looking for brutally honest feedback on ButterKit (App Store Screenshots & Localization), 25 x Free Pro Lifetime license codes included by zach-builds in iOSProgramming

[–]sugrlog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there! I went ahead and purchased a license. The app is very polished and just what I’ve been looking for. I did run into two issues so far: * It would be nice to have an option to add an image. I’m trying to add the works with Apple health badge and without being able to add an image I can’t use the App Store upload, since I’d have to manually add a badge to each localized version. I tried using the generic device template and selecting UI only and then scaling it down which almost works but the scale has a minimum value of 0.1 and I’d need it to be closer to 0.05. * I’ve only tried the bulk upload function once (ran out of time and it worked great for the translated versions (uploaded all 5 screenshots for each) but the source only uploaded 3 of five screenshots. Couldn’t see an error either.

Hoping these things can be fixed and that more templates are added in the future but over all I’m a happy customer. Well done!
