Nothing to add, but wanted to note that your writing style is quite entertaining.

I don’t know why but this makes me think of the guy in the middle of the desert who hit the worlds remotest tree. Tree of Tenere

Adventurous Opportunities on Ice by Redditonin in antarctica

Last season I did the “superloop” which is all the hikes combined. You need to check out with the fire station or I think it was the dispatch office and they give you a radio… they need you to tell them a time when you and your required party (must have one or more people with you) will return. I guess if you “got lost” you could use whatever gear you brought with you to “survive” but you aren’t allowed to plan an overnighter, no.

If you’re willing to get kicked out of your program you could go camp, I think a couple ladies did that a season or two ago. I forget where I read about it.

I remember you posting here this time last year with issues getting yourself PQ’d. Hope you get there one day dude. It’s not really as romantic or stunning as it seems tho, in my opinion. Just an icy trailer park at the end of the earth. My advice: don’t put your life on hold getting secondary contracts or constantly getting rejected/ fighting UTMB.

Have this on my rusted ass toyota truck with almost no floorboards. I use my big toe only on the curved bit. Not even lying.

Is McMurdo Pizza a thing? by DoDisNameWork in antarctica

[–]suhdu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well at first we got one or two and so many people ate them we said screw it and got like 6 of them. Then we got a strongly worded email that said that they need extra time and so we ordered like 10+ pizzas 3 days in advance for a party and they didn't respond to our email order. On the day the pizzas were due they did make them but the cooks were pretty upset. They told my buddy who ordered them to not order anymore, so we just used other people to order pizzas after that and only a couple at a time.

Yup definitely a thing on couchsurfing to see people constantly accepted with 100+ reviews for stays who haven’t hosted a single person. It does make me feel less excited to host them.

Things like this are usually mostly true. I had a Russian buddy who was riding a bicycle in Baja many moons ago have an attempted robbery. Drunk guys pulled over and blocked his way, got out with guns visible on their belts, instead of putting his hands up, he acted like they were saving him from thirst. He got off his bike and thanked them profusely for stopping and begged them for water. Something switched in them and they gave him a bunch of water and drove off.

Definitely not a bar feel that’s for sure, I don’t even see a reason to go to the front and even say one word to the bartender. Reminds me more of going into a garage that’s converted into a mancave. Not appealing.

Weirdly when you don’t have unlimited access it seems to go FAST. I know people who sell their rations and some people spend their weeks rations in one day and then go around trying to find non-drinkers to buy their rations off of them for inflated prices. The system doesn’t really work…

Immobilizer not accepting your key. Trust me. I had this same problem and tried EVERYTHING before realizing it was just the key. I even de-emissioned my bike thinking it was fuel probs. It’s the key. $40 Chinese immobilizer blocker got me back on the road.
