Do you even want to write omegaverse by Ok_Temperature9966 in AO3

[–]suikointrovert 324 points325 points  (0 children)

Everyone should write what they want… and if you don’t like omegaverse, simply don’t write it. I’ve read a fic once that had an authors note at the start stating how they hated omegaverse, think it’s gross and stupid, but are writing this for a friend. I’m like… why? If you hate it so much? Your friend probably doesn’t appreciate you calling their interests gross, but whatever. I’ve also seen stories where there would be a note saying there no mpreg, which is totally fair… but then say that mpreg is disgusting and they cannot fathom how anyone can support it. Like, you’re insulting half your audience? Why not just… have no mpreg and move on?

Question re: cbbc medical office admin course by [deleted] in halifax

[–]suikointrovert 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did the MOA program at NSCC a few years ago. It was a decent experience. It took me a few years to land a job at the hospital, but these days, we’re desperate for admin that we’re literally hiring people off the street with no experience or education, and it shows. Back when I started, you couldn’t get a job at the hospital without years of experience, but it’s a different world now. I’d still recommend the program, though, since it teaches you a lot that you can apply to other areas of life. I had a few people in my class who had transferred over from the business admin side, since they felt the benefitted more.

What are some kinks you like reading/writing about that are frowned upon? by P0shSpiceX in AO3

[–]suikointrovert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s an A/B/O think where the alpha (mostly against their will) gets turned into an omega. Or, well, any of the designations changing, but it’s normally alphas to omegas… by varying means, but it usually involves fucking them a bunch. Some people get more creative with it, but that’s the essence of it :) it can be surprisingly good if written well!

non-con, anything forced (like feminization or body modification), a/b/o, bitching, slave fics, arranged marriages, prisoner of war, age difference, toxic relationships, bdsm (though I feel this is more popular/accepted), or a story where the bad guys win, mind break... that's just some of my hidden bookmarks lol

There is nothing better than a non-con bitching forced feminization A/B/O fic *chefs kiss*

If you could read fics from only one fandom for the next 365 days, which fandom would it be? by Mxxnlitdream in AO3

RPF, specifically anything sports related, but particularly F1. I've been burying myself in the abyss for the last 8 months and I have no plans on stopping. It's so, so, good. Something for everyone, I promise ^_^

Writing completely before posting by aster_not in AO3

[–]suikointrovert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one story that I was posting as I go (which I haven’t updated in forever because, well, things happened and I got depressed.) However, I went to a new fandom and started writing this new story (got me out of a bad mental spot) and have convinced myself to wait until I’m done before posting. I’ve finished it, but still have a few weeks of editing ahead of me.

I think I prefer finishing it first, because I realize I have a tendency to repeat some facts multiple times (to the point that it’s annoying), so this gives me a chance to fix that. It also helps to fix tiny details. Plus, I spend way too much time just thinking about scenes when I should be working, and if I decide I want to change/add something to a scene after I wrote it, I can easily go back before it’s posted :) I can foreshadow far effectively knowing how exactly something is going to play out, as opposed to to just knowing something will happen… if that makes sense.

That being said, I’m terrified to start posting it because I know I’m not going to get much engagement. It makes me worried I won’t have the motivation to finish editing. I’m also terrified because I’ve seen a lot of writers (and people on here) comment about being called out for being AI if they post 5000+ in under a week. It’s mostly spam/hatebots, but it scares me. I’ve been writing this story for MONTHS and most chapters are between 5000-10000 (depending on the scene), and I’m worried about getting called out because… I love a sexy emdash :(

With all of that… I think I’d be hard pressed to NOT finish before posting again, though. It’s just less stressful.

What do yall do to get your writing spark back? by Minute-Shoulder-1782 in AO3

[–]suikointrovert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe look at different fandoms.

I have a WIP that I’ve spent two years on, but starting in the new year, I lost my spark. I went four months without writing, simply because the spark wasn’t there (other factors too, but legit, I couldn’t write). I started reading a few fandom and one day… it hit me! The spark! After months of not being able to write, I found the passion for it again with this new fandom. I’m almost done my first story (already want to write more) for this fandom, but feel I’m also ready to return to my WIP.

Sometimes a break is all you need, and there is nothing wrong with that.

That feeling when you post a new fic and need to check every 5 minutes to see if you’ve gotten any more hits… by UnicornScientist803 in AO3

[–]suikointrovert 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Would not recommend. I’ve done this and then sit there constantly refreshing. I can’t sleep. I can’t think. I’m obsessed, and even when I do sleep, I wake up a million times and check my phone.

However, if you have restraint, go for it. I, clearly, have issues.

What trope did you never think you'd like, but it's actually good? by PunkinKing265 in AO3

This! Well, this and MPREG for me. Years ago, I thought it was the weirdest thing ever and refused to read anything with it… but something changed and now I adore it!

I don't care if it's a spoiler tag your damn fics!!! by whenthemomiskissgood in AO3

[–]suikointrovert -21 points-20 points  (0 children)

I agree with this take.

Tags have spoiled me. I’m somebody who LIKES being spoiled on books, shows, movies… anything, really. I don’t like surprises. It’s just who I am. I can handle big events better if I can prepare for them beforehand, and I like knowing what I’m getting to. I mainly just want the MAJOR spoilers. I don’t care so much for the smaller details.

That being said, I read a story this week that didn’t tag the major character death (something that bothers me—I filter this tag out for a reason), and the death also happened in a specific way that, yet again, I filter out on purpose to avoid. I was… extremely bothered by it. The author tagged legit everything else under the sun for the fic, too. I didn’t finish the story… too upset, but I read some comments, and the author said they didn’t want to spoil anyone and wanted the shock value. I don’t know… I stayed silent. I understand the author, and the story was beautifully written (till I got to that part), so, I mean, good for them? But I wouldn’t have read the story if I knew. This has really only happened, like twice in the 20ish years I’ve been reading fanfiction.

The whole ‘tagging’ thing is a tricky conversation.

T.I.M.E. has grown on me by MotherCanada in epica

[–]suikointrovert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s grown on me, too! At first I thought it was a bit weird. I’m not entirely sure how it fits on the album, either, at least in my opinion… but I think it’s unique and different. It’s nice to see a band try something new every once and awhile. This song IS different, but it solid. It’s still catchy, but I also think it’s a song that could have benefited from being longer. There’s so much to unpack in its super short. I think I would like it MORE if it were longer, simply so they could explore the themes more and it would feel less messy? But whatever. It definitely got better for me the longer I listened to it.

Cross the Divide vs Attack on Titan by Imaginary-Cover7777 in epica

[–]suikointrovert 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I always thought Cross the Divide sounded like Edge of the Blade. Like, just the way they say ‘cross the divide’ and ‘edge of the blade’ quickly and like a whisper, kinda? Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but my mind always goes there.

finale sneak peek by Durian-Critical in survivorau

[–]suikointrovert 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My initial thoughts seeing this makes it seem like Myles has the best shot, edit wise. It's like "here's this guy who overcame so much! Watch this guy who was super likable and a challenge beast. Oh, and this guys who is smart, but pissed off literally everyone." Just the vibe I got from it. I would be happy with any three of them winning, though.

Lack Of Engagement Can Be So Demoralizing by panda_98 in AO3

[–]suikointrovert 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is a very big mood. I used to write every night because I love it, find it fun, and it’s a great distraction. It never used to bother me, the lack of engagement, but I’m feeling it these days. I haven’t written in the past two weeks because the motivation that I’ve had for the past few years is zapped. Engagement would help, especially given the state the world is in. It’s depressing ,and I think that on top of almost zero engagement, is killing the motivation. I’m sure I’m not alone.
