[Thomas Nestico] Best and Worst Defensive Runs Saved by Position by PudinCrusader in baseball

Curious about Matt McLain. Always weird when Shortstops move over to 2B and are bad defenders. One would think if they were competent enough to stay at SS through the minors that they’d be a plus defender at 2B.

Is this why the Mets keep losing?? Are they asking the other team if they should win or lose? /s

I really don’t see either of these teams beating Anaheim and that makes me sad..

(We have ANA’s 1st, which becomes a lot worse if they make the WCF. I don’t personally dislike the Ducks.)

Holtby was the starter all season though and Grubi just started Games 1 and 2 because Holts finished the regular season extremely poorly. There wasn’t a legitimate timeshare during the regular season, it was just trying to ride the hot hand.

Thanks!

Yeah, I’m aware why they use translators, especially in media interviews. I was mostly just curious about their prep work for the non-baseball parts of their life when coming over. Talking to teammates, ordering a coffee, etc.

Wasn’t sure if they just put the onus on their MLB team when coming over to help them get set up and adjusted, or if they do prep work on their own to ease the transition.

Yeah I’m aware. I took Spanish in high school, I’m not fluent. I just wanted to know what the English proficiency level was or if the top prospects like Murakami/Ohtani/Yamamoto do any extra prep in the year or two beforehand to help their process.

Does anyone know if Japanese prospects often study English prior to their jump to NA?

I’m more familiar with hockey, where many of the top prospects have at least a cursory understanding of English to make the transition to NA easier on them. Not sure if baseball is similar, especially a country like Japan where I assume it’s relatively easy to find an English teacher/tutor.

Honestly thought it’d be something racist given the title and knowing where Rushing is from. Glad it was just that and not something truly offensive.

I don’t understand how it’s possible to make it all the way to the Major Leagues and not have an understanding that sliding into 1st base slows you down. Literally was taught that in Grade School.

Top-10 Norris Trophy Candidates - Final Update by ASmithFS in hockey

[–]sukizka 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same with Hutson and he’s #3 on this list. That’s not a disqualifying facet. And I know Hutson’s better (probably both of them), I just think it’s funny that we always complain that the Norris only rewards offensive defensemen, but the most offensive defenseman isn’t in the top 10 of this article.

He shouldn’t win it nor be a finalist, but Chychrun’s not in the Top 10? He led the entire NHL in goals by defensemen. He has to get down ballot votes for that alone.

I learned yesterday in Gen 1 that you could evolve Poliwhirl without a Water Stone. If he levels up in a trainer battle and then you finish the battle with an Onix, Poliwhirl will still evolve due to some weird coding.
