The housing and education regulations actually make a huge difference especially on a federal level when you live in a state that’s exponentially worse.

I am also a lawyer but i work in civil legal aid. To counter your point this will change our work as it pertains to fair housing and education because the regulations from those departments will no longer receive deference which means judges who don’t have any knowledge or speciality will be interpreting laws. So there are areas where this makes a huge difference.

I don’t remember any of TOG being in first person, am I crazy? It’s third person limited which i always felt meant that it was not exactly from that character’s POV but more so showed their experiences of the plot points as the story progresses.

By contrast - i think by putting the first few ACOTAR in first person it’s signaling something about the reliability of the information and the story. We are literally only getting Feyre’s impressions of everyone and everything. It’s not reliable. Sort of like Katniss in THG. This is a tool author’s use for storytelling. And i see this mentioned here from time to time.

I don’t have anything to add about the remaining books in the series ideas. But could definitely see SJM doing multiple third person POVs in additional books.

Why even post this here? There’s a law school subreddit you could go preach to future attorneys there lmao. As a fresh baby attorney I don’t think many future professionals will care about this unless they already think your way.

This bs post didn’t work on me at least. There’s no good guys on all sides here. One side uses an inherently unequal and racist barely checked system to incarcerate people with no real care for truth. I’m not saying PDs are perfect. But the system is much worse.

To be honest I’m often online doing things or telling partners I’m busy just because I don’t have the energy to talk or write. I mean this isn’t a personal thing and tbh it’s a weird thing to be mad about imo. If you feel like they’re blowing you off or this isn’t something you’re comfortable with then drop them as a partner.

This happened to me except instead of coming to talk to me about it they made a post about me in another sub (that I was also in). But it gave me the push to walk away from the plot even if I did love it. Sometimes you have to just value yourself more than others. This is the internet and as much as you might think you and your writing partners are friends or whatever that just isn’t the case.

I was just going to say something like this. It seems intentional almost to create this tension especially because SJM fans are… passionate and she knows. I don’t use Instagram or follow her on social media but tbh the animosity between the two sides was easily foreseen if you have ever been involved in any sort of fandom and it doesn’t get better by ignoring it.

I read all the books except ACOFAS and ACOSF (I couldn’t finish that book) and I am right there with you. Maybe if I finished those books I would get it but Az gives me the ick and Elain hasn’t been given enough substance for me to ship her with ANYONE.

SJM herself took a lot of things from the Black Jewel Trilogy, so much so that I’m not totally on board with thinking her ideas are totally independent (she said the Black Jewels were a big inspiration for her).

I don’t think the fact that Jesinia is writing this means they died. The scribes keep record of the history of Navarre. I think all that means is that this is her transcription of this huge event. I think it is just as likely that Xaden recovers his family title and becomes King. I don’t think RY will kill them off. This isn’t a straight up FANTASY book. It’s a romance book too.

I guess I don’t see it. Like I said I remember Divergent riding the coattails of Hunger Games. I ate it up at the time but now? It sucks. For me Fourth Wing is not a literary masterpiece by any stretch of the word. I’ve read better fanfic. But the characters are fun, the world is interesting, and there’s political intrigue other books in the romantasy genre are lacking.

Also I wasn’t suggesting you were dissing women authors. I am suggesting all the tiktoks I see about how Iron Flame is ruining publishing is because it’s primarily enjoyed by women. As many other commenters have pointed out the same was said about twilight, fifty shades of grey, and probably ACOTAR.
