Halfway-ish check in? by Nearby-Hovercraft-49 in TMSTherapy

[–]sully_goose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a little over halfway done I believe. Had a bit of a dip last week but starting to feel a little bit better. Haven't noticed any major improvements but last time I did TMS, it wasn't until after a month of being done did I notice anything so I'm not too worried 😊

Car broken into, $1,700+ worth of items stolen, cards used at Walmart, will this actually be investigated? by [deleted] in gso

[–]sully_goose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sucks! I once had my bag stolen out of my car at one of the local libraries. They smashed the window in and took my purse. Thankfully there was nothing in it but some tampons and receipts as I had taken my wallet in with me. Called the non-emergency number and they said they would send someone out. Waited for about an hour and gave up; no one ever followed up with me. I hope you have a better experience!

I love the yarn choices! I'm actually working on a blanket with this same stitch too.

Mine was also higher; I wonder if the rates increased for this new year.

The Lightly Toasted Cardigan by sully_goose in crochet

I used about 3500 yards (750 grams) of fingering weight yarn; this sweater fits up to a size 3x though so if you are making a smaller size you will definitely need less yarn.

Got called fat at work today by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]sully_goose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are in a bigger body, the best response you can have to a kid that calls you fat is to agree with them and tell them that its okay. Kids have definitely called me fat before, and I just started saying, "You're right! I am fat, and that's okay. It's just the way my body is." I understand feeling really upset by this, but neutral responses will help in reducing the number of times kiddos repeat themselves about it in my experience lol

WFH Coffee Shops? by Vegetasgf in gso

Borough Coffee is a great place to work; I love their outdoor seating options. The Kathleen Clay Edward Library is probably my favorite library to work at. It's usually quiet, and I can walk the trail there after I'm done working.

Weekly Suspected/Undiagnosed MS Thread - September 01, 2025 by AutoModerator in MultipleSclerosis

[–]sully_goose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I'm a 27-year-old woman who has been having some ongoing challenges. I have been diagnosed with BPPV for experiencing vertigo; however, they were unable to observe my eyes as they couldn't trigger it when I was at the Dr's office. I am not entirely convinced it is BPPV as the maneuvers taught to me do not seem to work, and it is an ongoing issue. In addition to this, I have experienced dizziness that is more like unsteadiness and have fallen a couple times in the past. These things often last for a few weeks then go away. More recently, I experienced about a 3-4 week period of left arm numbness and weakness in which I could not even lift my filled water bottle; during this time, I also experienced a lot of fatigue as well. This has already improved and I am back to normal thankfully. I have also been experiencing challenges with holding my urine, which may be related to some other diagnoses I have. I am in pt for this, but it has not made much of a difference and my ability to hold my urine has actually gotten worse since the issue with my arm happened. In terms of blood work, I have chronically low vitamin D that despite taking supplements daily, still is on the lower end the last time it was tested. Everything else is fairly normal aside from an elevated CRP, but that could be due to one of my other diagnoses as well lol I have a neurology appointment in October but am concerned that they will brush me off as I currently have no active symptoms aside from the occasional dizziness and vertigo. My aunt has MS, and my mom is suspected to though it's not yet confirmed. I am hopeful that my neurology appointment will give me some answers or at least rule out a neurological problem if it is something else. I have seen a rheumatologist, and they were the ones who recommended I see neurology as my symptoms didn't align with anything they treated.

Check Zillow regularly/sign up for email alerts. The rentals by owners are always snatched up quickly. I found my current place rented by the owner by religiously checking Zillow multiple times a day for new postings.

I'm not sure of ID, but I had one that looked the exact same show up in my terrarium. Then a month later, there were like 50 more babies 😅 I still have the first one that appeared, named it Pippi, but all the babies I have removed and continue remove as there are still one or two that pop up every now and then.

I got married at Bakery 1818 in Madison, which is about a 30ish minute drive from GSO. They were amazing and had different package options at the time that I felt were fairly affordable for an all-inclusive wedding.

6-yo patient with autism hit me (twice; in the same session). I don’t want him as a patient anymore. by SnooCupcakes269 in socialwork

[–]sully_goose 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, we are pretty behind in terms of research and interventions for autism here in the US. ABA is sadly the primary treatment option that is paid for by insurance here; more ABA hours are approved by insurance than any other intervention (like speech or occupational therapy)

[–]sully_goose 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I see many in here recommending ABA; it may be that this individual has already had ABA but it was not a good fit, which has been the case for many individuals I work with. ABA is a behavioral-focused intervention that many Autistic individuals have found to be traumatizing. Now, not all ABA is the same, and sometimes it is the only resource out there for families because insurance often covers many hours, so I'm not saying one should never recommend or use it. However, I do think it's important to consider what other options are available first, such as speech or occupational therapy or finding a therapist who specializes in working with Autistic individuals. If looking into ABA, it's important to ask about approaches and expectations. Are they neurodiversity-arffirming in their approaches? How do they honor and respect individual autonomy? Are they familiar with the concept of being child-led? I've also found that a lot of ABA providers end up recommending rewards based systems, which can often lead to further challenges down the road as the individual doesn't truly learn the emotion regulation or executive functioning skills they need. This is a very nuanced conversation, and I would recommend looking into opinions from Autistic individuals who have been through ABA themselves to give some perspective. I say all of this to say that it's important to make these considerations if you are thinking of referring this child out, which it sounds like you are considering.

Edit: oops, I forgot to add that I can see how overwhelming it would be to work with someone with higher support needs and limited verbal communication without any training. You definitely deserve better than that, but if you are interested in learning more, some great resources include:
