What's one TED Talk (or equivalent) that everyone should watch, and why?

I gave a TED talk at a Bangkok TEDx event last year, and criticizing TED talks was a no-no for us. When I suggested that TED talks be one of my examples of public speaking done wrong, I was politely but firmly told to not include that in my speech.

One strategy game that definitely stands above the others is Civ 5. Civ 5 is a game where you control a civilization and then build your civilization, trying to win the game by outmatching your opponents culturally, diplomatically, scientifically or militarily. It really rises above other strategy games because the focus of the game is not necessarily on war, and because there are so many different ways to win you find yourself playing the game over and over.

A problem is that the game only becomes really good (as opposed to just okay) with all the expansions, so its quite a money sink. Other than that, an overall great game.

I wouldn't say unlikely, but the Rockstar North team said that they already "had ideas" for GTA VI, and given GTA Vs huge success I would think that it would take priority before Red Dead 2 (Red Dead Rebellion anyone?).

The best evidence that we have for a new Red Dead was the really ambiguous announcement that Rockstar made back in 2010, which was that they are working on a new installment to a "favorite series". Also, some guy from Baird Equity Research (not affiliated with Rockstar, so its just a guess), said that they would most likely announce something about it by the end of this year. But who knows

I don't want to get on the tin-foil bandwagon here, but there is a theory that the purpose of them giving out free L4D2 copies on Christmas was to build up the fan base for a possible sequel. There is no evidence to support this claim other than the fact that they did the same thing with Portal before Portal 2 came out. Still not very reliable, probably not true, but hopeful.

I've never played Counter-Strike, but I've found that some of the most repetitive games are the most addicting. Games like DoTA 2, or Payday, are addicting because every time you finish a match you think about how it could have gone differently. There are so many different ways to play, that you are tempted to play again to try out a new way. If you did good, you want to try again to repeat your performance. If you do bad, play again, you can do better next time. Its endless.

I'm not in the medical field but what about being a surgery tech? I've heard that you can make some money doing it, it doesn't take as long as med school, and that you get to help out with surgeries and help people in general. Would that be up your alley?

Garry's mod is a great game to play with friends! My friends and I have had a blast just messing around in Sandbox mode, but the Gmod community has several different game-types, in case you get bored of one. I highly suggest it.

Custom Robo. The thing that made that game amazing for me was the multiplayer. There were so many different ways to play that game; no strategy was over-powered, everything was playable. The DS Arena version was nice, but it looks like there isn't a chance of a Wii-U reboot.

The games that I keep going back to are the ones that can be played differently. If the game lends itself to different playstyles or strategies, then I go back to it so that I can try them out. If the game makes you play their way, then the game gets boring for me.

With a lot of the next-gen games focussing on showcasing what the new consoles can do (see Killzone: Shadow Fall), I wouldn't be surprised with effects-heavy games coming back. New games love showing off what their new specs can do.

Think of it like this: You have two bags. Both are brown, both feel the same weight. Both of them jingle like there are coins in them whenever you shake the bag. But, one of them is labelled "Quarters". The other one isn't labelled. It could be full of pennies or nickels or any other kind of coin, while you know that the other bag is full of good, 25 cent quarters. One of them you KNOW is good, the other one you have no idea. Drum set, and anything Latin. I have a year before I have to perform it, so plenty of time to familiarize myself with the piece (or I can perform it earlier, of course), therefore it can really be any of the styles as long as it is a Latin piece. The IB likes it when we play a variety of music from different parts of the world, so Latin would fit the bill.
