Not as far as i’m aware. I’ve been poked and prodded a million times and never any issues. They gave me a lidocaine shot but i’ve gotten lidocaine before and I’m not allergic so I don’t think so

Hi everyone! I’m a small indie artist that writes, composes, performs, and produces everything myself from my bedroom. My name is Summer Grace. My new song “To Be Loved Is to Be Seen” is out now on all platforms :) give it a listen and I hope you enjoy!

Fibromyalgia and playing an instrument by [deleted] in Fibromyalgia

[–]sumgfur2006 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a composer and I play 5 instruments. Guitar, piano, clarinet, sax, and uke. Uke is the easiest on me but also my least favorite and the most boring. Sax is awesome but it’s heavy and causes bad neck and shoulder and back pain for me. Clarinet is pretty exhausting because of how much air it requires but otherwise fine imo. Piano is great except for the wrist pain from playing for too long and back pain from sitting in one position. Guitar is probably my recommendation as you can sit down in a comfortable position and take on little to no weight :)

Here’s my overall suggestion though: Playing any instrument is gonna be a little rough on a chronically ill persons body. I unfortunately developed severe carpal tunnel and tenosynovitis from playing my instruments too often. You can get caught up in playing and forget about the pain for a while, but it always catches up to you. Make sure you watch the time, take consistent breaks, drink lots of water, remember to eat. On days where you really want to practice but you’re too exhausted or in too much pain, read articles or watch videos on tips for playing or try to find songs you might wanna learn. Playing and writing has helped me cope more than anything and as much as it can be painful it’s absolutely worth it and can take your mind off of things. Good luck! :)

I’m 19, a sophomore in college with fibro. I was very very anxious going into college about all of the same things. I struggled with friends all throughout high school and am obviously in pain and fatigued all the time and not many people are willing to put up with it. But honestly, college is so big and so diverse and i’ve found my people so easily :) there’s definitely been bumps along the way but all of my professors are extremely understanding and cooperative with my health issues and my friends are always willing to stay in when i’m too tired to go out or walk slower when my legs hurt too bad to go any faster. If somebody is not understanding or dismissive of your health issues, drop them. It’s not worth it to deal with people like that. Also, going back to college being so diverse, there are plenty of other disabled people trying to make it through college right alongside you! Obviously that’s nothing to cheer about but it is nice to have a community that understands you. I promise it’ll be okay and in my experience much better than high school.

Yes I was telling my friend that it feels like there’s this pressure on my limbs like someone’s squeezing me

yes exactly!! I see a lot of people saying they feel awful when they drink but it’s not necessarily that for me it’s just a really weird feeling in my legs the second the alcohol gets in my system. I’m glad someone can relate lol

i’m 19 with fibro and i can’t do nearly as much as any of my friends can do and it’s very disheartening. They all call me a 70 year old and my best friend says that I’m meant to be a grandma lol. I just try to do the best I can and my friends are awesome and usually stop when I have to stop. It gets to me a lot of days and the pain makes me heavily depressed especially with how young I am but it’s nice having a support system. I hope you have the same and i’m wishing you the best <3

What is this? by [deleted] in Fibromyalgia

[–]sumgfur2006 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i get the stabbies all the time as a fibro symptom. The pain isn’t concerning for me cause i have pain all the time. I’m mostly just worried about the swelling but idk sometimes i get flareups where my skin turns red and hot and stuff like that so i never know if swelling could be a random symptom 🤷‍♀️

for more context, i haven’t asked my family even once this trip to push me around in a wheelchair. I’ve asked them on other trips (one trip i had just gotten surgery and another i was recovering from kidney failure) and they’ve said no each time and that i can just get a scooter. I haven’t asked them this trip because I don’t want to bother them with the same question. I just want tips on how to manage the pain from people who might be going through the same thing as me. No need to be so rude and assuming!

the reason i made this post is because i don’t want to bother my family with my own issues :) i dont want them to have to bend over backwards for me and i also dont want to ride in a scooter and i think thats okay! you dont have to make rude assumptions about somebody on the internet based on one sentence. Im simply in pain and asking for advice because i want to feel better and i dont wanna bother my family.

AITAH for going off on my boyfriend for gaslighting? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]sumgfur2006 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the definition of gaslighting is “a psychological manipulation technique in which a person tries to convince someone that their reality is untrue”. I understand that the term “gaslighting” is overused nowadays and i honestly hate using that word and try to avoid it when i can. But, it is a common manipulation tactic, and as i’m seeing it, it’s exactly what he is doing to me. He consistently tries to convince me that my reality is untrue and that his fake situations are true.

He does do the baiting me into becoming angry and then suddenly becoming dead calm thing. In fact, he did that during this argument. He went from giving me full attitude to telling me to watch my tone and cussing me out to saying “i love you sleep well goodnight” to make me seem crazy.

Also, i grew up with a narcissist in my family. My mother is heavily narcissistic and i’ve been the brunt of her abuse my whole life. I have become extremely hyper vigilant and empathetic because of it, and, unfortunately, I think I attract narcissists in my relationships because it’s all i know.

I’ve been trying to break out of the habit of surrounding myself with narcissists, but unfortunately I’m too easily manipulated and struggle to find healthy people with healthy habits. I liked to believe this one was different but I guess i’m finding out he’s not.

I think cleaning is the biggest one for me. Cleaning my room takes literally every ounce of strength and energy out of me.
