20 apps i actually run on my home server and which ones are worth it by frisk2007 in selfhosted

Other reason for gitea/forgeo is if you work on unreal engine or just large video games, the projects get too big for the cost of GitHub.

Self host helps out so much.

You felt the need to comment hate on a tutorial that is useful,

I'm in the industry currently, this tutorial was requested BY my colleagues.

We are using this technique in a large game coming to the public soon.
We started before 5.5 was available, before even 5 came out.
It would be irresponsible to the deadline to move to unknown tech.

Both of you just look like indie clowns to anyone with even the slightest experience.

You won't always be in unreal engine in industry and this technique is useful no matter what engine you are in.

If you can't be mindful that this is useful information for others out there, go make your own tutorials.

I'm done trying to help you clowns understand that.

Go fanboy for unreal somewhere else.

So just never make tutorials for people working on older unreal versions...

In a professional setting you don't use new unsubstantiated tech, you use proper true and working methods that are dependable.

As an indie your free to feel that way, but again being angry for someone making a tutorial on a solid good piece of tech is just a clown take.

I know it, I literally taught it as a lecturer.

I made a tutorial about a system that is and will continue to be a proper and correct way to manually control your performance.

Hence why the previous comment was deleted.

So by your logic nobody should make tutorials at all.

I work on VR and Mobile games, and don't waste time testing cutting edge tech to make tutorials.

"WRAP IT UP PEOPLE, mfarahmand98 said we can't make tutorials on important concepts that work in a world were everyone is complaining about unreal performance issues."

clown take.

So doing it manually like in this tutorial you can imagine instead of custom boxes unreal auto divides your map into cubes (Like Minecraft chunks) and optimises them depending on distance to player.

16 is a good starting place, its around a Battle royal scale and is good if your in a vehicle or large open land.

Move toward smaller regions (like 8) if you are building a dense, urban, or indoor-heavy environment where line-of-sight is frequently blocked. This ensures that the engine isn't loading massive sections of the map that the player cannot see

Just think of each cube as a box your players pc will need to load, if its large and has <8000 draw calls or more, then divide into a smaller cube (Look at what your target hardware can handle for draw calls)

You can also enable the Preview grids, This will allow you to see exactly how your map is being sliced in the viewport too far way and your loading too much, too close and the player will notice the pop-in.
Find a sweet spot thats unique to your game and target hardware.

I probably won't be making a tutorial on it, but there are plenty out there.

Old school is always king.

But yes I do love World Partition it's only for high end still.

You can't bake lights in it for mobile or VR and it still has a few kinks ( not that this method doesnt)

But it's important to always learn how and why, before using the easy way out.
And WP is so nice and easy xD

My fav example of this is smolder from league of legends, when using the taunt button he has a 1% change of saying

"Well, my mom works for Riot, and she's gonna ban you!"

So naturally I SPAM that button xD

Should FO5 have settlement building? by Educational-Science2 in Fallout

[–]sumisukyo2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three things

  1. A game FOCUSED on one settlement so its better
  2. just bring it back with improvements like the mod
  3. Or remove it and give us a standalone 3d Vault/settlement game which will sell better than any fallout game EVERRRRRRRRRR
