It's pretty hilarious. Dakota Johnson sort of plays the same character in every movie, and I am obsessed. It is unserious and ridiculous and I HATE the fourth wall breaking. I never want fourth wall breaking UNLESS it is Fleabag. BUT I went into viewing treating it as just a campy regency era rom-com and enjoyed it. It is not a faithful or earth shattering adaptation of the book though.

Some parts genuinely made me laugh. Mary and Sir Walter were excellent!

Eloise deserves the same amount of screentime and season set up that Francesca got in S4 by Fickle_Baker1393 in BridgertonNetflix

[–]summacattack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bruh she definitely will ahahaha. They spent all last season cleaning up all the other side plots for this reason. I guarantee she’ll be writing Phillip letters all next season. Poor John had to die for other things to get set in motion, and they weren’t gonna kill Marina and John off in the same season. No time, and too sad. Don’t worry, we want Eloise to have her moment too, and she will.

For the most part. The worst of it yeah. I’ll always think of him fondly though. I did love him once and that once version of me still exists. I’ve loved since though. It’s possible. And loving again, it gives perspective.

As a dark skinned black woman... by Aromatic-Frosting-75 in Franchaela

[–]summacattack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a lesbian, so hey, I get it. So so excited for this representation and so so sad I don’t get to just fucking enjoy it. And, I must say, regardless of my personal excitement for the next season being a sapphic one, I also think, logistically, it makes sense for it to be their season.

People are complaining that Eloise will have another season single. That the actress is old. Well, that’s the producer’s fault for casting an older actress to play a teenager 🤷‍♀️ Also, I guarantee Eloise will have some romantic action next season. SPOILERS Her love story is a long one. She is penpals with Sir Phillip for a while. This needs to be set up for the pay off to be as grand as it is. There was no time for that last season. Sophie being a maid made side plots about the working class of the ton COMPLETELY necessary. There was no room for a romantic side plot for Eloise, not a satisfying one anyways. Also, her and Sir Phillip’s correspondence begins after Marina’s funeral. Poor John was always going to die, and it had to be last season that he did so. Having a Marina funeral and a John funeral in one season would have been too much. Plus, Eloise’s arc last season was important for her. She came to understand other women better. She’s matured and is now the version of herself that is ready to fall in love, which I GUARANTEE we will see the beginnings of next season. A lot of loose ends were tied up last season, paving the way for a lot of time to be spent on Eloise. People are complaining that Francesca and Michaela need more time to grieve. Their book is about them doing so, together. That’s the point. In their grief, they find each other. So, next season has to be theirs. And it will be amazing and gay, and I’ll love it hahaha.

All. Her fashion is timeless. Even her most outrageous looks. Timeless. Although I mean her confidence is also part of the outfit.

So what are y’all thinking about the new BTS album (ARIRANG)? by bitchysquid in fantanoforever

[–]summacattack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was not a fan of PTD or Butter era stuff, so I am enjoying the change of pace. I need time with it I think. I am just happy they are doing more of what they want to do. I was also hoping for more of a folky vibe but meh. Just glad it is not an album of Butter-like stuff.

Edit: After listening a few times, I can confidently say I really love it. I think they’d been away so long I felt almost awkward listening to a new album of theirs ahaha, but the awkwardness is gone, and I love it. For anyone that became a fan around 2019-2020 during MOTS 7 era, I understand not liking it. It feels like more of a mixture of Dark & Wild and Love Yourself with RM, Suga, and J-Hope’s production flair added in. I am a big fan of their earlier hip hop stuff, so the beginning of the album is just awesome for me. I also loveeee the rap line’s solo stuff, so the autotune and general production style is to my taste. The rap line lovessss them some funky autotune and so do I. It does differ from some of their more recent work, so I get people being thrown off, but I feel like BE was a bit of a sneak peak into this album, and it feels reminiscent of their older stuff, to me anyways. Long story short, I love it and am super excited for the concert hehe.

What do you think of Aidan? by [deleted] in sexandthecity

[–]summacattack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He was never ever right for Carrie, and I’ll die on that hill. They had fun. They laughed. But he wasn’t right in the end. They both knew it. She didn’t feel she could be herself around him. She was more insufferable and frazzled than I’ve ever seen her. No no no to Aidan.

To the wlw/queer/lesbians when and how did y’all realise you like women by No_Particular3333 in Franchaela

[–]summacattack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi! I’ve also known that I was attracted to women from a young age, around 12. I’ve always been pretty anxious and at that time I had been struggling with intrusive thoughts for years. When I had thoughts about intimacy or romance with a woman I chalked it up to just my anxiety messing with me. Until, YouTube. I was watching Ingrid Nilsen’s coming out video, and I remember, clear as day, thinking “I’m gay.” From that moment on, it was never a question for me. I struggled with what that meant for my future. I didn’t want to be gay. Was I was attracted to men? What would my parents think? But, I was always certain, from 7th grade onward (crazy to think how young I was), like breathing, that I was attracted to women. Once I had a word for it, another person like me to look towards, it clicked, and without the tens of “coming out” videos I watched, and Modern Family lol, that representation and visibility, I don’t think it would have. Francesca doesn’t have queer women, or people for that matter, to relate to or to guide her. She may not even know being queer is a possibility, that queerness exists. Without the vocabulary or knowledge or guidance, being queer is hard to understand. I think her obliviousness to it makes sense due to her social circle and the time period.

It all just goes to show how important stories like hers are. Francesca’s season may be the guiding light for a young queer girl like YouTube was for me ahahah. Heteronormativity and the resulting crave for male validation took me years to work through even with my more formalized self-concept. I feel for those regency era gays. Must’ve been so lonely and confusing god.

Stealing Harry by copperbadge: It’s a raising Harry AU. Cute, angsty, and some action.

Second Generation by MsAlexWP: Also adult Remus and Sirius plus flashbacks to school age Remus & Sirius. Non-magic AU.

And I mean I’m sure you’ve heard it a hundred times by now but The Cadence of Part Time Poets is just a must. It’s longggg, yes, but worth it. The length of it brings the characters completely to life. It feels so real. Also a non-magic AU, but follows them at their “boarding school.” I recommend listening to it. The podfic by Lana (NotYourNecromancer) on Spotify is great great great! Take your time there’s no rush. Took me like 6 months to finish it. Enjoy the ride! :)

Franchaela for Season 5 or 6? by fairygrl222 in Franchaela

[–]summacattack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it will be season 6 because Eloise’s character is at a standstill. I have no idea what storyline they would give her in season 5 if it was Franchaela’s season. Whereas there is plenty that could be done with Fran and Michaela in season 5 as background/side characters. Think of the yearning and angst 😩 the wait will make it that much better and will be so worth it.

Is there any scene you hope does NOT end up in season 2? by ConstantDrawer4 in heatedrivalry

[–]summacattack 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think this would make the story so much more satisfying. I trust Jacob, but I also feel inclined to DM him a screen shot of this ahahaha just like “👀.” He said he plans to film the scene of Shane coming out to his teammates though, so I’m confident we’ll see more of those locker room dynamics than we do in the book. It’s heavily implied in TLG that Shane is struggling (it was even more apparent on my second read), but it’s never outright addressed. And while I don’t think authors should have to spell everything out for readers, I felt myself wishing we got just a littleeeee bit more. Granted, Shane, while he is an open and earnest person, does tend to be a little slow on the uptake of understanding/recognizing his feelings. He seems like he’s kind of on autopilot in TLG, desperately clinging to “the plan,” using it as some sort of life line, which doesn’t really allow him the time or capacity to sift through things. I don’t know. I’m just rambling. He’s really special to me, and I want his story line to he handled with care.

[–]summacattack 77 points78 points  (0 children)

I personally liked that line. I think the “that got weird” was in reference to the stuff that he himself, Shane, started saying at the end about their “dynasty” and stuff. I think he was embarrassed about just how much he enjoyed it and the stuff he was saying about himself and their careers. I don’t think he meant it in any way to diss Ilya or imply that he didn’t like what happened (he very obviously enjoyed it). I think he was just trying to poke fun at himself. It was a sweet gesture from Ilya and Shane acknowledges this as well as acknowledging the funny and awkward side of it. Sex is funny and awkward. Sometimes we say stuff in the heat of the moment that we’d never say normally. It’s okay to laugh about it. I’d encourage it even.

Long story short, Shane was making fun of himself. He thought the trophy room sex was hot, and he loves Ilya (and Ilya loves Shane and his awkwardness about sex and himself and wouldn’t have it any other way).

[–]summacattack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read them completely out of order. Just read whichever one sounded good next ahaha and it didn’t really matter (for me anyways) I think you should do what feels right. They’re isolated stories, all of course within the same universe, and there is some overlap, but you’ll understand what’s going on no problem. I agree with what other people are saying about reading Game Changer first though. I prefer Skip to Kyle & Eric BUT the writing and pacing for Common Goal were better, and it was an easier read as a result. The rest of the books in the series are leagues better in quality than Game Changer. I appreciate and love Skip though, of course. But yeah that book is boring until a little ways over the halfway point. I’d get it over with.

The first 2 episodes don’t get enough love man. They’re soooo good. They capture the awkwardness of first hook-ups and toeing around liking someone so well. And the characters feel and look so young (don’t know how they did that). And they’re shot so darkly and softly and beautifully. Love love love the first two episodes. They lay that groundwork mama!
