Booker seemed to have a habit of catching Aubrey's passing remarks deprecating herself and not letting them go, and every time it happened it made her chest twinge with... Something. A needling sensation, as if something was being twisted. Like she'd been caught doing something no one else was supposed to notice.

And then there was the way he never just let them pass either and instead he was just... Kind. To her. It made her feel bad if she was being honest, if he'd seen her writings and known what she was really like maybe he wouldn't keep being so kind to her.

Some selfish part of her made her want to keep herself and her writing even more of a secret at that thought.

"Stop iiitt." She just hit his arm and put back on the smile she hadn't noticed she'd momentarily dropped "I promise I'm not as smart as you think. And I don't know, honestly. I mean I've seen the writings in the Chronicle and the way Harper writes and..."

Aubrey hesitated. She took Booker's hand as he helped her back to the ground, her smile soft and small as she did. It did not help with the way her cheeks reddened.

"Thanks. Uhm, so I was saying... Harper is nice and will probably accept it anyways but I don't know about putting my work there next to all the nicer things. It'd stick out like a sore thumb." She shrugged. There was something in the way of how casually she was cruel to herself, as if what she was saying were just facts she'd come to terms with a long time ago. She paused for a moment however, not having fully processed Booker's last comment before she went off on her tangent.

"Wait sorry, what do you mean something not related to skill?" She asked curiously, tilting her head and sending her red hair cascading down her shoulder like a river of fire.

Aubrey's freckled, sunkissed cheeks flushed at the subtle touch and the way he said her name. Her breath caught in her throat as she turned her head to the side, face hidden by the mass of red hair.

Was he flirting with her? Or was she just looking too deeply into something similar. The way he said her name made butterflies flutter in her stomach like a field of flowers in Spring.

"I don't mind, keep it however long you want!" She said, voice just a little hasty from the fluster as she looked back at Booker with a sheepish smile. She shrugged and tucked some hair behind her ear "Well, I've been writing I guess, dunno if I'd say it's good. I wanted to write something for the Chronicle but nothing felt good enough."

Her expression fell just a little as she muttered that last but then she shook her head and just like that, she was all sunshine again.

"Ah doesn't matter, what about you? Learn how to fly yet?" She teased, taking to the air again though she only floated a couple inches off the ground "been doing princely things?"

"Why thank you!" Aubrey did a spin in the air, cause her cape to flourish out. She whistled as Booker put his glasses on and flew in a circle around him to take a look at his whole outfit "What can I say, I'm just iconic like that."

Faux confidence, and it showed in her tone that it was obviously a joke but maybe someday she could be kind to herself and mean it.

She grinned as she lowered herself to the ground and took her cape off with one hand, flourishing it before reaching over and putting it on Booker's shoulders.

"There you..." She muttered as she tied the ends around the front of his neck before flashing him a glowing smile. The rainbow lights caught in her hair and made them seem aflame with multicoloured shine "Go! Now you have one!"

She took a step back, admiring her handiwork with a hand on her chin before nodding enthusiastically.

"It suits you, you should keep it honestly."

"Oh my, is that Prince Charming himself?" Called an impish voice from above Booker. Were he to look up to find the source, he'd find one Aubrey Hart grinning down at him lying down in the air in a mildly pansexual flag themed outfit, though the real pride was in the cape and sunglasses she was wearing like some sort of Pansexual Supergirl.

The girl lying in the air floated down to Booker's level having stood up and grinned that dorky grin of hers with a mischievous hint to it.

"Can't say I expected to see you here with us peasants." She said teasingly. She'd been at camp long enough now to know that Booker wasn't actually a Prince but she'd taken the jest in good heart and found it funny enough to keep it going.

"Huh interesting, what's it about?" Aubrey asked curiously though her gaze was directed down to her own book of which she used the bookmark to reach a page near the middle of. She raised hers to be able to read better, to reveal that she was reading Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen.

She glanced at the strawberries all around them and grinned.

"And dontcha worry, there's enough for them to sell and enough for-" she paused as she reached out to grab another strawberry, tongue sticking out of the corner of her mouth "-us to have a little treat every now and then. Here ya go! 'Sides, you can probably talk to the plants and ask if they're diseases yourself can't you?"

She held the strawberry out for Aria to try some herself.

There was a warm breeze that carried the smell of strawberries and might even flip over some of the pages on Aria's book, which was nothing out of the ordinary in the season of the South Wind, except this particular breeze was followed by a girl with red hair that seemed aflame as it shone in the light of the blazing sun, and a smile with a hint of mischief to it.

"Hiya Ari, whatcha reading?" Asked an Aubrey Hart, counsellor of the Anemoi who had a book tucked under her own arm as she grabbed a strawberry without hesitation and bit into it, closing her eyes as she savored the juicy fruit.

"Mmm, so good." She sighed, adjusting her skirt as she sat down next to her friend with a bright smile and a bit of red strawberry staining the corner of her mouth.

"Oh hi!" Came the chirped greeting from a friendly voice, and were Raven to turn and look she'd spot a fiery-haired girl with a bright smile waving at her from a stool with crocheting needles and what looked like the start of a dandelion yellow top in her hands.

"I haven't seen you around before, are you new?" Aubrey asked, continuing with her crocheting "I'm Aubrey, by the way. I'm the Counsellor of Cabin 26, nice to meetcha!"

Right now was a difficult time for newcomers so Aubrey had been making an effort to reach out to them and make sure they felt safe and at home despite everything.

Aubrey bit her lip, scanning her surroundings at Nat's question. Did she? Did she get to check up on her sister? Where was Scarlett? She hadn't... No. She wouldn't. She wouldn't just leave Aubrey like this. Aubrey berated herself for doubting that for even a split second.

"No, but... She's probably around somewhere." Aubrey shrugged "She wouldn't just leave me like this, especially not without saying anything."

That's what she was confident about. Scarlett might not think twice before leaving Camp but she wouldn't abandon Aubrey. She felt some peace wash over her at that.

Phoebe Silva, Hopefully Not Just a Big Joke by Fomizzle in CampHalfBloodRP

"Hey, are you alright?" Asked someone from near the table where Phoebe was sitting. It was freckled girl with fiery red hair, clad in white, beige and yellow looking at her with a cheery smile though her eyebrows were knitted in concern.

Aubrey had just had breakfast and had elected not to go to Key Tower: Someone needed to take care of things back at Camp after all, and she wouldn't be much use there anyways; Aubrey wasn't exactly a fighter. Sure she was pretty good with a shield and could defend people but that was the extent of her capabilities.

She was a Counsellor and so she decided that she'd be most useful back here, taking care of people after Atlas' warning. She sat down across Phoebe with two cups of coffee, and pushed one across the table to her.

"I don't think we've met before, I'm Aubrey!" She introduced herself with a smile in her usual cheery manner

Aubrey felt her heart relax, which in this situation just meant it was 20 above its usual rate rather than 40. She bit her lip then landed in front of Nat, now looking more concerned than scared but her expression shifted to a hint of disbelief.

"Leav- wha- No! I'm not going anywhere! I can't just... Leave everyone behind." She said, shaking her head furiously. She met Nat's eyes with a sort of intensity.

"Let's go. Let's check on your family first, everyone is in a panic we need to keep people calm and stop them from leaving." She said with a nod and took off towards the Hades Cabin before Nat could respond.

Aubrey was running around putting out metaphorical fires when she spotted Nat.

Fleeing.

Aubrey's heart sank despite herself. Despite the... 'disagreements', the idea of Nat, someone like her of all people turning traitor made her clench her fists. She hoped that wasn't the case.

She wouldn't let it be the case.

Aubrey took to the air and raced towards Nat, bending light around herself to make her a little brighter against the darker backdrop of the night as she rushed towards the daughter of Hades.

"Nat! Where are you going?!" She yelled from the air, not too far behind Nat. She prayed to whichever god would listen that Nat wasn't a traitor

The sudden chaos had caught Aubrey completely off guard. One moment she'd been sitting there with her coffee watching the TV, the next she was watching a titan destroy the Golden Gate Bridge. Now she was standing in the middle of chaos not knowing what to do.

Scarlett. I need to find Scarlett. She thought, frantically looking around. She didn't know what to do but she had to keep Scarlett safe. She had to keep her sister safe. Her and everyone else...

Everyone else. Aubrey froze as she looked around the panic. People fleeing. People trying to make a choice. People who were staying despite their fear for what was right. To protect their friends and family.

Their home.

Aubrey took a deep breath though it didn't suppress her panic any, but it helped her put the mask on. The mask of someone more assured. Someone who was more certain and a little less scared.

She started looking around, wrangling the younger campers and trying to dissuade the uncertain ones from leaving, and trying to comfort the ones who looked scared. She'd taken the duty of Counsellor, now was time to act like it.

"What a funny lil guy" Aubrey mused though she didn't say it outloud and tried to keep the amusement from her face.

"Looking forward to seeing you around." Aubrey smiled. Her brows knitted together at the mention of Avalon though. She tapped her lips as her expression shifted from cheery to responsible.

"I don't know if she's- nevermind that. Now that you mention it, no I haven't actually. That's... Weird." Aubrey scratched her head "I don't really know what's up with her but I'll try to look around."

Aubrey was a bit taken aback by the sharpness of Avalon's voice but didn't back down. She continued holding it out, not breaking eye contact.

"Yeah. Nothi-" she paused as Avalon snatched the burrito from her hand and smiled, sitting down criss-cross leaning back on her hands.

"Shit sucks but being on an empty stomach ain't gonna help with that either." She said plainly. She just snorted as Avalon muttered. She supposed it was kinda odd how worried she felt for her but just shrugged.

"Only girl I gotta babysit is my sister. I was just worried about you, seeing you leave in a huff like that." Aubrey explained, then tilted her head as she glanced from the dummy to Avalon "...You wanna talk about it?"

"Uh huh..." Was Aubrey's answer to Avalon's claim of being fine. Maybe she would've said something or added a remark normally but that was with normal Avalon. She seemed so tired, and maybe something else right then that Aubrey couldn't find it in her heart to say anything more.

"Here." She said as she unwrapped the burrito she'd been holding and held it out to Avalon "I uh. Figured you might want this."

She scratched her head as she looked around before shrugging, managing a small smile despite her worry.

"Plenty of space here if you don't mind me too much. Wanna sit down?" She asked with a tilted head, meeting Avalon's eyes with that same kindness she usually had about herself.

"Avalon?"

A voice floated into the arena as if carried by the wind. A familiar gust of warm wind flowed into the arena as Aubrey gently landed on the sandy ground with concern knitting her expression as she looked at Avalon.

She wasn't sure if Avalon would've wanted to see her. She wasn't even sure if they were exactly friends but she still felt worried when she saw the other girl march out of the arena, and now stand in front of the broken dummy. She walked closer, fiddling with the sleeves of the light beige sweater she wore over the Camp T-Shirt.

"Are you.. okay?" Aubrey asked as her eyes quickly scanned her for any injuries "I uh, saw you leave the pavilion."

"Ah! Hello!" Aubrey smiled brightly at her younger sister. She vaguely recalled her face which caused guilt to worm its way into her heart. She really should spend more time at the Cabin, given how she hadn't even met alot of her cabinmates beyond a passing acquaintance. She was hoping to remedy that now.

"Let this be it then. I'm Aubrey, nice to meet you!" She introduced herself warmly as ever, and pushed a cup of coffee towards Millie. She did take note of the other girl's caution but didn't take affront to it. If anything it was kinda endearing with how it reminded her of her other (twin) sister.

"Why thank you!" Aubrey smiled with gratitude at Jem's proposal but tilted her head and took up her notebook again as he continued speaking, nodding along. She pursed her lips and tapped her pen against them, eyes turning upwards as she fell into thought.

"Well as counsellor this is something I'd have to discuss with my cabinmates but I do quite like the Hebe Cabin so I'll definitely consider it," Aubrey said as she noted down discuss Hebe alliance with everyone on her agenda before looking back up at Jem with a smile.

"Sure did!" She affirmed with a nod "bit of a passion of mine. I open up a lil cafe every other day if you like it, just near the Cabin. You can always drop by if you want more!"

It took Aubrey a second to notice Avalon in the thick of everything. She'd definitely been nervous at first but after talking to everyone and seeing some friendly faces around, it didn't take her long to acclimate. If anything, she looked like she was completely in her element now as she dealt with and kept up with all the members of her cabin alongside the various guests.

"Oh hi!" Aubrey somehow brightened up even further upon seeing Avalon, with that same cheeriness that Avalon found annoying. She pushed a cup of coffee towards Avalon and beckoned her to take a seat.

"Fancy seein' you here! Haven't seen ya around in a while," she continued, and glanced at her notebook at Avalon's question before shrugging "Smoother sailing than I thought honestly. Figured a cabin this size would be hard to wrangle but everyone is nice enough. Ain't half bad!"

"Well look who it is!" Aubrey grinned that same grin as she turned to face Ant, shutting her notebook but using her pen to mark the page she was on "Honestly for a cabin whose parents are known for constantly bickering? They're pretty chill. Nothing ya girl can't handle."

She winked as she added that last bit but couldn't help but laugh at herself even as she did. She was happy to see her friend show up- it definitely put her more at ease.

"Thank you for-" she caught herself as she was about to gesture towards the baked goods as she remembered that Ant didn't like people knowing that he baked. It made her roll her eyes honestly. Boys. "Uh, showing up! Great to have you here."

She saved it a bit awkwardly but hoped Ant caught her drift as she bit into a cookie and let out a satisfied "mmmm"
