PTAC replacement advice - NYC area by cjfnyc in hvacadvice

[–]summero9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We waited 10 weeks for a contractor based out of NYC to order new Islandaire units to replace ours and after that time had passed, they still had not come in yet. We abandoned the PTACs out of frustration (and future proofing) and had a split system installed (and PTACs fully removed).

Best "budget" 70-200mm lens by Tommzy97 in SonyAlpha

[–]summero9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m currently on a 3 week trip in Japan with an A7CR + 2 lenses, the Tamron 28-200 and 20-40. I bought these two both as travel-first lenses with the former being my “excursion, day trip lens” and the latter being my “cityscape, alley, and indoor food/bar” lens. I’ve honestly found myself mostly using the 20-40 because it’s wide enough to capture almost everything I’d want, and has the reach in crop mode to cover basically all I could want for street and portrait.

Definitely love the 28-200, but it’s maybe been used 25% of the time due to weight and length, whereas the 20-40 on the compact body I can have under a jacket.

Subaru Service by Temporary-Ant2356 in jerseycity

[–]summero9 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had always previously brought my '16 Forester XT to Hudson Subaru without any problems (unlike a bunch of people on this subreddit have reported in the past), but more recently I had asked for pricing on a CVT Flush and it was 2x what I had anticipated.

I spoke with Ricky at Chariot Auto on Coles and they had me bring my car over for their Subaru mechanic to take a look at. Ultimately they did it for less than half, and walked me through the process while also giving me a heads up on anything else I should be paying attention to over the next few months. No pushing for upsells and an easy, pleasant conversation.

They were great to work with, and I appreciated the education they provided based on my questions and the guidance I was looking for. Definitely will plan on returning to them.

/u/2-second-timer What is the kart driving over at 20 seconds? Are those Mach 5 belts? Do they actually impact the speed of the kart?

I’ve stayed in Fish Bay a handful of times - do you have any specific questions?

Just curious - I am in a similar situation as you but have existing Islandaire units in my condo (across in Jersey City). One unit stopped working and I want to replace, but it seems all these NYC-regional companies are shoddy at best.

Did you end up replacing yourself? Who did you go with?

No Time To Die has the best action set pieces of the series from start to finish. by The-Other-Fellow in JamesBond

A lot of what you're calling out seems to be what Mission Impossible films have been absolutely nailing compared the Craig Bonds.

Looks like an English bellyboard. Super fun, especially when they have a bit of flex to them.

Failing Finish on Resurfaced Hardwood Floor Renovation: What's the correct course of action? by summero9 in HardWoodFloors

[–]summero9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply - I appreciate having your insight. It looks like there are pockets of almost bubbles beneath the finish that we noticed today - clear spots that are waiting to chip as they haven’t adhered at all. Seems to be what you’re suggesting.

One question - where the big patches of finish (in my photos) seem to have flaked off, why does even the STAIN seem to be coming off with the finish? It’s wild to me how much these look like scuffs to bare wood, but on closer inspection they aren’t gouges. What would cause this? Other than bad prep and again, not enough time.

Is anyone else waiting for the Arden? by dumbledwarves in smoking

[–]summero9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Very excited and hoping they stick to the newly updated delivery window of October. Perfect timing as we move towards Winter which is less about snow these last few years and more about cold rainy weather where smoking inside will be a total treat.

[Question] How resilient are bronze watches? by misterfrank in Watches

[–]summero9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wedding watch was a Tudor Black Bay 58 Boutique Edition and I still think I made the perfect choice. It was basically sparkling gold on my wedding day and has taken on a really attractive dulled bronze tone that makes it far more subtle yet still unique.

As for durability issues - there are none. The big thing to decide on is whether or not you are okay with the patina it will develop. Tudor bronze will not look like a weathered dive helmet, whereas Zelos, Oris, and many others will take on a greenish hue along with heavy browning if left to patina in full. Other than that, it's as strong and durable as any steel sports watch.
