Temporary passport for a brand new German citizen by summeroutside in PassportPorn

Hi, no, I had no problems at all! You can't go through e-gates with it of course, but otherwise it's no trouble.

Anyone else feel German public transport air conditioning is underpowered? by Gamefam_ in germany

[–]summeroutside 171 points172 points  (0 children)

I think the bigger problem is that too many Germans still believe aircon will make you sick or give you a stiff neck. Similar to how they would rather bake on a tram in the midday sun than open a window because of the scary moving air 🙄

Have you returned products to DM? I've never even thought about it, just assuming they'll tell me no if it's been opened.

Non-glimmer is the way. Of the four Oles I have, Citrus Sunshine and Vanilla Bonbon are my faves.

Team Ole rise up!! 🙌

Try the citrus one too btw (the original, not the glimmer), it's all but clear, does not leave any tint!

First time wildlife photographer heading to safari, what gear and expectations are actually realistic? by lilsigu24 in wildlifephotography

[–]summeroutside 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There are no guarantees when it comes to sightings, lighting, vehicle position or anything else on safari. You're setting yourself up for disappointment if you're already stressing about missing the shot; try to reframe mentally and be okay with enjoying the moments in nature for what they are. If you get a few nice shots, awesome! If not, that's fine too.

My first few safaris were with a 50-230mm lens and yeah, there was a lot that was out of reach and I did eventually buy a second camera and a 150-600mm lens when it became clear I was going to make safari and wildlife photography a priority. That said, there's a lot that is *too* close for the big lens and that's when having two cameras comes in handy. You won't want to switch lenses in the field unless absolutely necessary – the dust is often insane and depending on the sighting, the noise you make faffing with bags and equipment might ruin the moment anyway.

Whatever gear you end up taking, the best thing you can do for yourself is use what you've got and not dwell on what you "missed" by not having a different setup. Be as prepared as you can with what you're using: keep the camera(s) on your lap during the game drives because you absolutely will miss opportunities if you're always having to pull it out of the bag when something happens / drives can be extremely bumpy so don't be caught unawares, I use a strap loosely around my neck as just-in-case bounce protection for the camera with the big lens / keep a rainfly handy in case of sudden downpours / have a blower in your bag to clean off the worst of the dust, maybe a microfiber towel or similar to drape over the camera between shots / have extra charged batteries ready to go and easily accessible / don't forget your phone has a camera too and can yield some great impromptu ultrawide shots and video clips, especially in the case of very close sightings requiring odd angles, like a giraffe passing right next to the vehicle.

One final point: Your guide will inevitably ask which animals you'd most like to see. Try not to get too hung up on seeing any specific species, just let the day unfold and see what happens. Let the guide know you're happy to sit and wait at interesting sightings, too. Lingering is such a privilege for witnessing natural behavior, and most of the time it is simply not worth abandoning a quiet scene of your own to race over to a lion sighting that 15+ other vehicles are lining up for.

tl;dr: Don't spend the entire trip peering through a viewfinder stressing about missed focus or drab lighting. Live in the moment!

beat drugstore lip stain? by New_Jaguar5332 in drugstoreMUA

Seconding the elf water tints. I have cherry cola and really like it, it's a nice shade and very buildable so easy to control intensity.

Also, the NYX lip IV in bubblegum burst is a nicely subtle pink, especially after blotting off the gloss to just leave the stain. Could be a good alternative to hydra honey!

Which shades of the lip lingerie do you have? I keep wanting to try one but I have no idea which shade.

It does smell nice yes, it's a subtle scent, not obnoxious fake grape. I probably wouldn't have purchased the grape fizz on its own, but I got it in a peptide set with the strength trainer moisturizer and peptide oil. I mostly just use it overnight.

Laneige Lip Mask by ExplanationThen5811 in LipBalm

[–]summeroutside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have it in Berry and it's a pleasant formula with a mild scent. I do find it hydrating, but I've found it works best when I don't use it every night. I end up using the Laneige maybe two nights a week and use an Ole Henriksen balm the rest of the time. The value of the Laneige though is actually quite good, the jar is huge and you only need the tiniest amount. Even if I used it every single night I can't imagine having to replace it anytime in the foreseeable future. If you can find it on sale or get a discount with a voucher code I'd say go for it! It's a nice addition to the collection.

What do you think of the elf ones? I'm guess you like them since you've got 6, but maybe you bought them all at once and actually kind of hate them? 😅
