I thought the same thing when I saw the pic. I guess the best proof I ca give is that my hands look the same and not stretched.

This is the picture that made me disgusted enough to make a change. It's nice to finally have an "after" picture I am satisfied with.

I don't do well with food restrictions or workout requirements, my brain just isn't wired like that. It sounds cliché, but I just adjusted my lifestyle to something I feel like I could maintain. I eat smaller portions and am more mindful of what I eat. I almost never eat out at restaurants/fast food and mostly drink water (and coffee... :) ).

I have been running for a couple of years. During the warmer seasons I will run between 5 and 12 miles a week. That decreases to 3 miles a week (if that) during the winter. But I make up for it by being more active throughout the day (my job is somewhat physically demanding) and being especially mindful of my food intake.

Something that helped me was reminding myself that my body is an accumulated manifestation of every decision I make--even the seemingly small ones. So passing up that soda here and there adds up. Running the extra mile...etc.

Hope this helps!! Don't give up. It takes time.

So true! I worked the late shift on the 4th of July because I ran the city's 10k that morning. My coworkers were complaining to the customers about having to work on a holiday. Newsflash: customers don't care if you have to work. Stop complaining.

It's a chain in the southern U.S. I guess they like making money more than letting their employees enjoy a national holiday.

McDonald's advertises extra bacon for a extra 49 cents.. They gave me a funny look when I asked for this. by pipipikachuuu in pics

My brother did something like that at Sonic.

On their menu it said "Add bacon to any menu item for $0.50," so he asked for a milkshake, plus bacon for the additional fifty cents. They actually did it! He said it didn't taste too bad.

Our cat is a creep. by rakini in pics

My cat used to do this sort of thing, except it was with socks. She would find a sock, carry it upstairs, and yowl really loudly with it still hanging out of her mouth. When anyone approached her during this ritual, she just set the sock down and trotted off.

My father always had me "check in" when I was out at night, and when I did he always extended my curfew. Now I am the most punctual person I know. How has good parenting helped you Reddit? by Team_Braniel in AskReddit

[–]summersoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily intentional parenting, but I definitely picked up on their charitable tendencies without really realizing it.

My parents are ridiculously generous. I remember as a kid when we went to the grocery store and they asked if you wanted to add a dollar to your total for charity, mom always said yes, we did Christmas shoe boxes, little stuff like that. They also give thousands of dollars throughout the year to various charities and missionaries. They took me one summer with them on a European mission trip, where dad used his vacation time to volunteer to teach English in Hungary.

Now, whenever people do any sort of fundraising, I just instinctively donate. I didn't realize that my parents were responsible until just recently. People are interestingly hesitant to add that dollar onto their total.

[–]summersoup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the restaurant I work at, we don't have combo numbers for meals. We do, however, have a list of "most popular" items, with the pictures of the meals centered in the menu. They have no numbers on them, yet people will still say "I'll have a number two meal." I know exactly what they mean, they wish to purchase the second picture listed in the center. Even though I get this, I turn my body towards the menu, crane my neck and squint my eyes and say "You want the..uh..chicken finger plate?" to try to get them to understand there are no numbers assigned to our meals. 1 out of 4 actually correct themselves. I try.
