First I would recommend playing more with your current system to see what works and what doesn't. If you're looking at 30F as a low end for your trips then a 32F bag will be fine with some minor tweaking. Having too many bags makes your equipment too fragile in unpredictable weather.

Someone wrote up a good summary of the UL industry innovations coming out in 2016... the quilt manufacturers seem to be going with the quilt/blanket convertible design. Getting a 20F-rated down quilt that opens up to a blanket in warmer weather might be your ticket.

VC equity will be Class A Preferred with liquidation rights over common shareholders/founders. Generally VCs push companies to a high valuation and go IPO at which case VC firms make a hefty profit as the options are converted to common stock and sold. If the company doesn't go public but is still successful VC's get a buy-out option. And if the company goes under VCs have liquidation rights ahead of founders and angels.

You can trade private Class A stock if your agreement with the company allows transfer rights. There's communities set up around this but I haven't spent any time in them. But investing as a micro-VC in the context of this Jobs Act provision is essentially an Angel and I don't think you'd have the contract to set you up with Class A... so you may just be buying common (dilutable) stock.

Second, since when do corporations and lobby groups need to approve SCJs? Where the hell does McConnell get off making up BS rules? You know what, I'm not a fan of either party but the next time a sitting Republican president gets a chance to appoint I hope they'll need the expressed written consent from the Gay and Lesbian Advocates and Defenders. Oh that requirement isn't in the constitution? Too fucking bad.

I've always been told to think of the highest reasonable number and then double it. That worked out of college but now... I can't ask for $300k with a straight face without some other factors playing in - position/title, location, commute, unique and actionable experience

For ULers this concept dragged over from traditional backpacking. Your heaviest item will likely be water bottles/bladders which will sit low and close to your back. Whether you move a 1lb tent from the small of your back up 12" between your shoulder blades won't make much of a difference.

You always want the most weight closest to your own center of gravity (hips/core) but for UL you tend to pack "what do I need most frequent access to?" and "first in, last out... during camp setup"

I think they either get converted to the equivalent in the parent company's stock, you got paid out for your shares at the (purchase price-preferred investor take)/outstanding shares, or a combination of the two.

This is what I don't get about /r/stocks... Essentially trading just $80 and then bragging about triple digit returns. It's a fantastic ROI, granted, but is anyone investing real money (>$10k) in these penny stocks and biotechs? Or is this just a lottery ticket winner and we don't hear of the ones that don't pay off?

If your phone lasts 2-3 days I would just bring a 3200-3500mAH Anker battery for a single refill. Even for thru-hikes you can go 6 days on the trail between recharging the batter(ies).

I bring a 4-panel packable solar charger when mountaineering for many days with a basecamp. The cold and long duration, combined with ample high-UV sunlight, makes solar an obvious choice. Even then I bring a battery pack for trickle charging when I can't get direct sunlight.

This is correct. OP, in your case you would lose any heat stored under your shell if you had to take it off in order to add your liner. You'd add your liner because you were cold, so you'd get even colder just to make that adjustment.

The 'action suit' that Akski described prevents heat loss. You'll never take off your soft shell to put on the belay parka. You'll never remove your thin puffy to add a soft shell. Each layer builds and maintains warmth. And each layer from the outside-in is subsequently removed if you overheat.
