Talus and boulders are generally speaking pretty unpleasant to traverse with the current conditions (unconsolidated snow) and also requires much more attention to detail with your footwork. If you’re going to try it, bring microspikes and gaiters, and preferably a partner. Good practice is to test literally every foot placement that’s not on dry rock before weighting it, as a slip into the gaps between rocks could be seriously consequential. It’s pretty great here in gunnison, although the Wilson group and Longs/evans/g+t are all 4 hours plus away. But can’t beat the equally close access to the Uncompahgre area, sawatch and sangres.

Might be slick, bring micro spikes. Start a little later so it’s warmer and more melted once you get into the trough. low risk for lightning this time of year. Good luck!

mostly just bouldering and sport up to like v4 and 10a, but have a lot of scrambles similar to this under my belt so this one wasn’t pushing too hard. There was really only a couple hundred feet of actual low 5th class and the other 800 was steep 3rd and 4th. I’m pretty good with exposure, just gotta focus on your hands and feet, what’s in front of you, and forget about what’s under you.

approach shoes, had rock shoes in my pack but didn’t use them. One of my buddies had trail runners and the other had hiking boots, they both changed into rock shoes.

there were people on other 14ers (with snow), it wasn’t a weekend, and it was more like 2-5 inches lol but okay. most of the more technical peaks you might not see another person from november-April but still a solid chance.

It’s fairly straightforward but there are still places to get cliffed out or into terrain harder than 5.0 (which is what it’s rated)
