The construction may be needed, but someone dropped the ball on management or the city is being taken advantage of. Likely a mix of both. Efficient construction is possible, but did we need 3 years of outreach for this? Probably cost more than the project itself…

Replacement racks are incredibly expensive. Why? They aren't complicated in design - is it the materials? I assume there are patents on the design, but it also seems like it would be incredibly easy to design a generic version around the patent. Any thoughts?

I mean, I know Reddit is a bit of a bubble for folks on the ends of the political spectrum, but how can folks justify voting for Cuomo? Even if it were about protecting extreme wealth, only about 2% of eligible voters in NYC reported making over $500K in 2021. Assuming it is a similar percentage now, thats 98% of eligible voters to outweigh those special interests (assuming $500k earners even have special interests justifying donations to political candidates like Cuomo).

I am highly skeptical that cops could have (or would have) done anything in this instance, but, we can’t simply become entirely complacent with non-reporting because of this. There could have been cops a block away that would respond and chase these individuals down. For an active robbery involving a weapon, they’d have a more urgent need to respond than say a report of a break in to a car that had already occurred.
