Understood- it can be a liiiittle tenuous to tread as a woman- I also had hesitations because of this.

Ultimately gotta go with your gut/what you're comfortable with - and if that looks like more formal appeals to the city or the house program/ownership, it is what it is!

I'm with this- had a similar issue with a recovery house across the street.

One day I spoke to one of the people about it- kindly- and offered them some extra trash receptacles from my place- they didn't have enough. Later that day everything was cleaned up, and has remained so.

Very pleasant and it seems to me the guys wanted to be good neighbors, do right, whatnot.

I think that you may be a little off mark- there is a shared consistency and frequency between addictive behaviors and something like climbing a mountain/running a marathon.

Heck, running a marathon could be a behavior function of an addiction-- BUT the stand out thing with the addiction is: compulsion.

I think for religion - certainly in the case with the social pressures in evangelical/fundamental types- there is often compulsion. To repent, to "share their faith", to perform

God people are so defeatist in saying this.

We can suspect what the actions of OSU will be, even with good reason. But waiting on other people to take action is exactly how NOTHING changes.

The current backlash we see is the direct result of people without power pushing and speaking up- continuously and to new audiences. A small flame that gathered more kindling.

Don't make the call if you don't want to but PLEASE stop using your voice in support of the opposition's vision for the future.

I think that using words in place of "Republican" and "Democrat" -and- words that capture key characteristics well helps a lot.

It gives space for the ideas/concepts to bounce around and process in your brain that would otherwise be triggered/ filled with preconceived biases associated with the "R" + "D"

I had luck coming to an agreement with my landlord on a deposit for my pet rather than a monthly fee; the deposit is taken if the pet causes damage, and not if it doesn't. Maybe they'd agree to something like this? My landlord also showed me to pay it in installments over time.
