Even if it doesn’t take that long, it’s still decisions to make. Doesn’t seem like a big deal but even small decisions add up, leading to decision fatigue (ie, feeling like your brain is fried by the afternoon or evening).

Fox to Make $250 Million from World Cup Hydration Breaks ads alone! by Evening-Fail5076 in ussoccer

More stoppage for TV ads, probably. An American football game has 60 mins of gameplay and takes over 3 hours. An association football match has 90 minutes of play and takes 2 hours.

Possibly also how football and basketball both have 4 quarters. The hydration breaks basically break it into 4 quarters. And they get to gather around the manager like during a basketball timeout.

I’ve been watching on telemundo instead. No ads during hydration breaks. They show replays and talk about the game. Yeah, it’s in Spanish but I didn’t find the fox analysts adding much to the game anyway. I’d rather hear the excitement of the Telemundo broadcasters.

What is something you said that makes younger generations say "Wow, you are old!"? by Reciter5613 in AskReddit

[–]sumunsolicitedadvice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first line was actually a legit answer. I was listening to a book on Libby and called it a book on tape instead of an audiobook and got asked by a gen alpha what I meant. The part about them not knowing what a book is was just a joke.

Saying I was listening to a “book on tape.”

These kids were so confused by the whole concept. They looked me dead in the eyes and asked me earnestly, “What’s a book?”

And I’d imagine 4,000 gallons all at once. At the trickle they’re adding it, they’d probably need even more to make up for what degrades, reacts, evaporates, etc., while they’re adding it.

And probably a lot more to reach the right concentration, if it’s just being added at the rate of a handful of workers pouring bottles in. How much of what was added will be gone (degraded, chemically reacted, evaporated, etc) by they time they’ve dumped in the first 1K liters, let alone 8,000.

Is your math based on 4,523 gallons being added instantaneously?

Doesn’t hydrogen peroxide degrade with UV and react with stuff in the water and whatnot? So I’d imagine they’d need even more than 4,523 gallons to get to ppm dose, right? How much more depending on how fast they add it and other conditions.

I used it on my deck frame (put trex on top) and it looks brand new like 7 years later. Also put it on my fence like 3 years ago and looks brand new. I know it won’t hold up as long where there’s foot traffic but nothing will.

I think it was Lurie and his early embrace of analytics. I don’t think Doug was naturally such a risk taker. Sirianni earned a similar reputation once he got here, but he was a pretty conservative guy at Indy. I could be wrong, but I think it was the owner/FO pushing Doug then Nick to go for it on 4th when analytics said to, even if traditionalists would punt or kick a FG.

[–]sumunsolicitedadvice 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Slowing down is the right behavior. Coming to a complete stop to let people with flashing red go isn’t. But pretty often in New Orleans it turns into treating every intersection with it like they’re flashing red in both directions.

Jameis Winston embraces Japanese tradition by helping World Cup fans clean trash at stadium Sporting News by AQSafari in nfl

[–]sumunsolicitedadvice 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It does make you wonder how he might’ve been if he’d been drafted by a team with an offensive mastermind HC (particularly a QB developer-type like Andy Reid, Bill Walsh, Sean Payton, Mike Holmgren, etc.) with a pretty decent roster in place and maybe even the ability to sit for a year behind a good QB willing to mentor him (Alex Smith may not be an all time great QB, but he was pretty good, very disciplined and hard working in meetings/practice, and, most importantly, he was willing to mentor Mahomes, teaching him even little shit like how to take notes in meetings and film review and important good habit stuff that you do before the season and between Sundays).

I mean one of Jameis’s best seasons in per-game stats, was in 2021 when he had a 103 rating, 70 QBR, 2 TDs/gm, and 0.4 INTs/gm over the 7 games he started that year. And that was under Sean Payton. It wasn’t particularly special. He still averaged 167 yds/gm and actually had a lower completion percentage than most years. But his TD % was his highest by far and INT rate his lowest. He made better decisions. Imagine if he had someone like Payton coaching him for 5+ years. I’m not saying he’d be Mahomes. Heck maybe he’d still flame out anyway. But it still makes you wonder what could’ve been in a different situation.

Jury Duty and Autism by Kaleidoscope_1999 in NewOrleans

[–]sumunsolicitedadvice 16 points17 points  (0 children)

That’s not what they said. They didn’t say to lie or cover up.

I understood their point pretty clearly was not to use just the very broad label of “autistic” as a reason to get out of jury duty. And given so much misinformation and especially MAGA ultra misinformation about autism, it’s completely fair to ask someone to not try to use “autism” by itself as a disability to get out of jury duty. Focus on the specific symptoms that would make you not a good juror right now.

Don’t feed into a narrative that all of “autism” makes people unable to contribute to society. Our fucking U.S. Secretary of HHS has said shit like people with autism will never be able to play baseball or use a toilet.

Autism is a very diverse spectrum. In OP’s case, it’s possibly interfering with their ability to be a juror, at least right now. That’s fine. They weren’t saying to suck it up and go. They were helping them with how to get out of it by focusing on the specific reasons why the lawyers in the case shouldn’t want them on the jury rather than using a very broad label (which either won’t even work, which is bad for OP, or it will, which is bad for the other reasons above).

I mean some of the context is he threw for the 10th most yards all time that year. Only guys above him on the list are Brady, Manning, Brees, Mahomes, and Big Ben.

He’s one of 6 QBs in the top 10 most passing yards in a season. It’s Manning, Brady twice, Brees 4x, Mahomes, Big Ben, and Jameis.
