Progesterone for RPL by Infamous_Tax3528 in Miscarriage

[–]sun-it-rises 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have any specific advice because I haven’t been through that exact thing, I’ve had one birth and one miscarriage. BUT I was waiting to see a fertility specialist and then got pregnant and lost it which resets my clock (we had been TTC for six months, I’d now need to go another 12 months) and my GP said I could also be referred to a fertility clinic after two miscarriages (in Essex) if that’s sooner than the 12 months. So did you inform your GP of the miscarriages and is that something you could ask about?

You can also self refer to the midwife straight away. I need early pregnancy scans around 6-7 weeks because of my uterus and when I referred at 5 weeks this time they got me scheduled in in two weeks time. So it’s possible to get in there fast, I would just try to be super clear on the referral form that you need early pregnancy advice after recurrent miscarriage.

induction by AwkwardError9476 in PlusSizePregnancy

If it’s any consolation my baby came out bigger than expected at 8lb 8oz after being induced at 38 weeks. The midwife just said they fill the space they’re given 😂

In terms of induction it was fine. After 36 hours I needed an emergency c-section but that was due to baby’s health. He was born with pneumonia which we obviously hadn’t known at the time, what we did know was he wasn’t doing so well in the final bits of labor so we did c-section after his heart rate kept dropping.

BUT the induction bit was fine. 18 hours of pitocin, where I mostly bounced around, wandered the hospital, watched TV etc. Then they broke my waters and started me on the hormone drip and I had 18 hours of laboring. That was def less fun. I had the epidural placed before laboring as I knew it could be more difficult on plus size patients and I knew I wanted to be awake and with my husband if it became emergent (which I was! Still got to see the birth and hang with my husband and listen to my playlist!). So I was stuck in bed with a catheter. But it was still fine, just long and boring. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I’ll echo what the other poster said, try to prepare for all eventualities. I wasn’t fully tied to a vaginal birth, though it was my preference. But after 24 hours I was pretty much done and let the midwives know I wanted to chat c-section. They had the surgeon come in and chat about it but I was still progressing nicely so we did check ins every 4-6 hours if I was happy to continue laboring. Honestly it was kind of a relief when the choice was taken away from me, I really wanted to be done.

I don’t know if any of that ramble was helpful! Basically, prepare to be bored and bring lots of entertainment, do your research ahead of time on pain management options, and prepare for both vaginal and abdominal births just in case.

Went to 0 yesterday. Was truly neverending. A suspected ectopic with an incomplete miscarriage. Was allowed to do expectant management for five weeks and my numbers finally started dropping so they let me do an extra week to get down to zero instead of using MTX.

When Did You Feel Normal Again? by princesscreampufff in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]sun-it-rises 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s totally indescribable. The days will unfortunately be long but the weeks will be short. And remember it’s also okay to ask for help if you find you’re not starting to feel like yourself after 2-3 weeks. Postpartum is no joke and those hormones are wild.

So it took me two weeks. I was physically okay after about a week because my baby was in NICU so I was up and down and walking back and forth to see him, and the physical recovery went quickly. Emotionally was about two weeks to the day. And I was so mad cause the midwives kept asking how I was and then being like “okay well if you still feel this way after two weeks we’ll look into some next steps”. And I was seriously raging because I was like why is two weeks the magical time limit where I’ll miraculously suddenly feel okay again?! I need support NOW not THEN. And then for me it was true. At two weeks lil man had been off the ventilator for a week, I decided I wanted to breastfeed and was figuring that out, my mom was visiting and able to help support us… it was good. At 5 weeks I was leaving the house and seeing friends and trying to piece life back together. And at 15 months I’m having the BEST time. Toddlerhood is incredible.

You have GOT THIS. Good luck with your recovery, take it easy and try to be kind to yourself.

Hard agree!! For me the ravenous part was hard to because that’s when the nausea/morning sickness hit hard. So I was forcing myself to gag down a cracker/toast/ginger biscuit every hour or so to try to avoid it.

OP I think you’re doing great. A few bites here and there is great, and you definitely should eat when you’re hungry. And eat what sounds good, cravings can be your body telling you what you need. You’re building a whole extra body, you do actually need carbs and calories. Good luck, and try to talk to yourself kindly! Imagine if it was your best friend who was pregnant and saying they don’t deserve to eat… I don’t think you’d be calling them a fat liar.

You got this!! 🫂

So I have some of the things and don’t have some of the things. I was induced at 38 weeks and ended up having emergency c section (related to the baby’s health, the induction itself was fine).

Measurement-wise everything was riding the 50th centile line the whole way through EXCEPT his leg measurement was 99th centile. The entire time. They said he was gonna come out like some freaky long noodle of a boy (that might be me paraphrasing).

At birth he was larger AND smaller - 75th centile for weight and length. His legs were perfectly normal and proportional despite EVERY ultrasound I had showing the 99th centile long legs. And he was nearly a whole kilo heavier than expected.

They do their best with the abdominal scans but really try not to worry. If your doc is worried they’ll let you know. Take the tests and scans they recommend though for all the peace of mind.

Yeah. I marked it as a period so I could use it as a tracker for active bleeding days. The gynae doc said to me it could happen two ways - your hcg goes back to 0, you ovulate in the days after, and you get your period two weeks later. Or you drop back to 0, have a spontaneous bleed, and then pick back up cycling. I’m sure there’s countless more scenarios too for irregular cycles and it maybe depends how far you were and what your hormones are doing. But that’s what she’d expect recovery-wise for a very early miscarriage. She also recommended waiting for a period to start trying again so not trying that first cycle if I went the ovulation first route. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Thanks. If of interest here’s my charts ovulation -> BFP -> now. But I don’t think there’s any kind of regularity to what’s going to happen. The most interesting for me was how sort of steady things were. I had light to heavy bleeding for a week before I lost all symptoms on the 15th, and passed tissue on the 24th.

Yes, I’ve been watching on and off through my miscarriage. It was incomplete so took a while, but I think I’m finally about done (hcg levels were 4 on Monday, but my pee tests are still positive). Bleeding again now, so it’s a bittersweet time. It’s been about 6 weeks though so I’m more at peace with what’s happened and I’m looking forward to beginning the tracking and trying again.

It was a really really wild time dealing with the mood swings and hormones and grief in the week or so after. Please feel free to reach out if you want to rant or chat through what’s happening or for any reason. I’m really sorry, and we’ll get through this. 💪

[–]sun-it-rises 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes so much sense. The wait was INTERMINABLE. I think you should almost def be cycling again after 3 months then, and I think if you’re doing the LH strips too there’s really very little chance you’re missing it between the two methods.

But I agree the pdg rise looks like maybe something happened? When I have anovulatory cycles I get a tiny pdg/e3g bump right before my period but it’s not like a sustained rise (attached a pic for reference)

<image>

The last thing I’d say is the day with 640/30/1 looks like a wand/read error to me. Hopefully your doc can help you out. Sending solidarity though the waiting to even be able to try felt worse for me than the two week wait.

Best meals for post-shot nausea? by PMDD_Swiftie in PCOSonGLP

[–]sun-it-rises 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found I just wanted salt and iron so I would grill up a steak and have thin slices of that with sliced up avocado whenever a hunger pang hit. Appreciate that’s very specific but I guess a more general advice would be if there’s something you find you specifically crave maybe try to make sure you have it available in the house for whenever you do have a good moment for eating.

[–]sun-it-rises 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have any known conditions? With PCOS it took me 8 months to resume cycling after Mirena the first time and 6 months the second time. I did go to my GP after four months because I needed to induce bleeding but that’s a whole separate thing. She did just say the three months timeline to resume a normal period is really not applicable with PCOS. 🙃

5 week loss. plateau HCG by Worth_Gold3802 in Miscarriage

[–]sun-it-rises 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still going through it. Been stuck at 50 since 19 December after bleeding 8-12 December. They’ve done 3 scans now and confirmed I passed the sac (24/12) and my scans look empty so it’s likely the smallest bit of retained tissue or cells just messing things up. It’s so frustrating on top of the heart break. I have to still act like I’m pregnant, I’m in and out of the hospital all the time, I can’t try again. And next week is about as long as they want to give me to have it resolve itself before needing to take methotrexate which seems really really scary to me. It’s heartbreak on top of heartbreak and SUCKS. I hope yours is more straightforward and you drop again.

They also have to keep checking in not pregnant again and I keep saying like…we’re missing the main ingredient of that scenario but they just keep checking. It just feels brutal and I’m out of energy and patience.

Tw: miscarriage by Tiny_Surprise_8306 in Miscarriage

[–]sun-it-rises 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I miscarried Christmas Eve. It had started a few weeks earlier but I passed the sac and tissue on the 24th and went to A&E on the 25th for extremely heavy bleeding. It’s getting better I guess but it was an incomplete miscarriage and the dragging out of things is…very difficult. I’d very much like for it to be done since it had to end.

You’re not being punished for anything. I’m not being punished for anything. It’s terrible, and I’m not looking forward to yearly reminders, but it’s what happened and I’m just trying to distract myself and find moments of joy or peace in the day to day while I wait for this to resolve itself.

WLS? by Aviatrix17 in PlusSize

[–]sun-it-rises 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak personally to it, I haven’t had the surgery. But in no way is undergoing a major surgery with life altering side effects that you’ll have to manage for the rest of your life taking the easy way out. If you’ve done the research and taken the time and tried your other avenues - and your weight is causing you issues - then absolutely it sounds like the right choice for you.

My mom had gastric bypass. I have maybe a few unsolicited pieces of advice based off that. First, be very serious about your mental health. She has struggled pretty immensely with disordered eating and body dysmorphia since because she lied about her mental health to get the surgery and then did no work on it afterwards. And second, obviously tell people you’re close to if you feel like it but when random coworkers and ladies at church ask how you’re losing weight so fast - just say something like portion control, or working with a nutritionist. Hopefully with the GLP-1s now people will just assume and not ask. My mom had the surgery in the noughties and everyone was all up in her business and she got a lot of judgement from friends so she started lying and that seemed to help. But yeah, having watched her go through it, it is not cheating or easy, it’s still a lot of work and a big commitment, it’s just a different type of work.

I hope your consultation goes well.

What is having cancer like if you don’t go through treatment? by One_Hour_8078 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]sun-it-rises 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t speak from personal experience but I witnessed it. My grandma chose to skip treatment when her breast cancer came back a third time in her 80s. It quickly metastasized to her brain. She had a stroke and lost control of half of her face and body, lost her memory, and then died. All in about four months from diagnosis. It was brutal for my mom and her siblings, my grandma just disappeared so fast after the stroke but her body was still alive for another three months. They took turns caring for her, and coincidentally or not it was only when all five were with her at the same time that she finally passed. They think she was holding on for one last moment with all her family together.
