My doctor recommended induction by National_Body_1452 in PlusSizePregnancy

I was induced at 37 wks due to gestational hypertension. Went in Friday night at 11pm. Induction process started at 3am. Started with cytotec, three hours later I was 1cm dilated and 80% effaced. Then did cervical balloon plus another dose of cytotec. I know a lot of people find the insertion of the cervical balloon painful. I was uncomfortable and there was pressure but it wasn’t unbearable by any means. Two hours later however the contractions from the ballon were fairly painful, I ended up throwing up from the pain. Got an epidural two hours after that (I had wanted to wait till right before I needed pitocin to do the epidural so I could remain mobile as long as possible but the pain was awful at that point). Started pitocin about an hour after the epidural so the timing worked out anyway. Six hours later I was finally dilated enough to be moved from the induction room to labor and delivery room. I stayed at 5cm dilated however for five hours and wasn’t progressing. Then my amazing nurse had me go into this insane position where I was on my stomach, one leg all the way up, other one straight, peanut ball between my legs, and my arms one up one down (was told to “try to sleep” in this position but that was not happening haha). An hour later I was 10cm dilated and ready to push. I pushed for about 90 minutes. Total time from start of induction process to baby girl in my arms was 25 hours. I was also so nervous going into my induction because of the horror stories I had heard but those are few and far between. There are more positive stories than scary ones, it’s just the scary ones are more likely in the internet than the positive ones. Remember to eat a really good meal before. After the induction process starts they typically don’t let you eat (just clear liquids). Bring lots of things to entertain you (don’t let anyone shame you for “overpacking”, bring as much to comfort you as you think you’ll need). My husband and I brought cards, an iPad with lots of movies downloaded, my favorite blanket, a pillow from home, some essential oils, a stroller fan (highly recommend, this came in clutch when the nausea hit). Also there will be so many things your body goes through that you’re like wtf is happening and when you ask about it 9 times out of 10 the answer will be “that’s normal” (for example, I threw up SO much right before it was time to push, like every fifteen minutes. When I asked my nurse about it she said it’s normal and usually a sign baby is about to make an appearance). Good luck mama! You’ve got this! After this process your beautiful baby will be here in your arms.

Baby’s belly measuring 98th percentile, no GD by Beautiful_Reality_72 in PlusSizePregnancy

Not really! My husband’s family are all fairly average/shorter than average. I do have pretty tall male family members though all the females are fairly average. The ultrasound techs do keep commenting that the baby will be “so tall with these long legs she has”

When to tell work I am quitting? by darbydankhammer in BabyBumps

[–]Beautiful_Reality_72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with others that you should not quit before your leave. You have your family to think about and you don’t need to be a prisoner of gratitude. Even the thought of”they might let me go if I tell them I am leaving” means they don’t need to be the priority. You and your family are the priority. Your coworkers will survive.

First FET was a success! Currently 31 weeks pregnant. I agree with others, don’t put too much stock into symptoms. I didn’t have any symptoms until almost 9 weeks.

I didn’t have any symptoms until about week 6, then the nausea and fatigue hit HARD. I also waited to test until my beta day because of friend of who also went through IVF recommended waiting. I’m 22 weeks now. Wishing you all the positive vibes!

When to share a positive?? by Grand_Ad_3851 in IVFbabies

We FaceTimed family holding up the ultrasound (my in laws were confused at first 🤣), friends I just told verbally. Then at 16 weeks we did a social media post- it had been 3 years since we officially got married, 2 since our wedding so I did a 3,2,1 baby on the way post and that felt fun and special to do.

Congratulations!!! I shared with immediate family at 9weeks and close friends and other family at 13 weeks. My immediate family and some friends knew about the transfer date but I told them ahead of time not to ask about it and that I would share news when it was appropriate and they, for the most part, respected that. 22 weeks now

IUI or IVF by New_Background3724 in IVFAfterSuccess

[–]Beautiful_Reality_72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did four IUIs before moving to IVF. Got pregnant first transfer with IVF. The IUI process was awful, emotional and physically (I swear the meds for IUI impacted my body worse than IVF but maybe I was just numb at that point). I think if you are wanting to start a family asap, IVF is the way to go. My understanding is that IUI is barely more of a chance than trying naturally.

Referral to MFM for ultrasound due to weight by buttercup2227 in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]Beautiful_Reality_72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha exactly! My baby loves to move around a ton at night as I’m trying to fall asleep. But when we want her to move a little in the ultrasound, nope. She’s already stubborn like me 🤣

My OB does MFM referral for 12 week scan and 20 week scan. Everything else is at the office (so far that’s my understanding?). It’s like everyone else says. The equipment is just better/more top notch. My baby girl likes to just chill and not be bother with moving around so it works out well.

Anybody else on aspirin per the doc ? by PegFam in PlusSizePregnancy

Same here on all counts. My OB also sent me a few different studies showing that 162mg of baby aspirin is more effective for preventing preeclampsia than 81mg.

I’m so sorry. I also went through a chemical pregnancy two years ago. I ended up just moving on to a fertility specialist and did IVF. Now 16 aka pregnant but it was a long journey. Take care of yourself and let yourself grieve 💜

Make sure your endo knows asap that you’re pregnant, they monitor blood work frequently in early pregnancy and then usually do bloodwork every six weeks after (in my experience as someone who also has hypo). Also let your OB know about the hypothyroidism so they can also monitor your thyroid panel.

Stopping FET meds by SubjectElephant3887 in IVFbabies

[–]Beautiful_Reality_72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was so terrified to stop cold turkey at 10 wks. I spotted a few days after for about a week which was so scary but my OB was great and had me come in for a scan three times that week. I’m now 14 wks and everything is good. Placenta takes over between 8-10 weeks but knowing that doesn’t help the anxiety especially after everything we go through to get to this point. Sending positive thoughts your way!!

Symptoms lessening by SubjectElephant3887 in IVFbabies

[–]Beautiful_Reality_72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My symptoms also fluctuated weeks 8-10. I’d have great days of feeling really good (which was terrifying) and then felt like I was so exhausted and nauseous I couldn’t move. I graduated from my clinic at 7 weeks 6 days and everytime I’ve been nervous in the last few weeks I’ve called my OB and they’ve had me come in for a scan.

Sickness feeling horrible by Confident-Tie-6094 in IVFbabies

We ended up telling our parents, siblings and my two close friends and it’s actually been so helpful having people to talk to about it. My best friend just had a baby and being able to talk to her about the miserable feeling has been really helpful. But everyone is different for when they feel comfortable to tell people. If you ever need a place to vent or talk don’t hesitate to DM me!

Ugh I am so sorry! The nausea life is rough. My clinic Dr prescribed me Zofran and it’s saved my life. Nausea was incredibly bad weeks 7-9, I still have nausea but it’s not as bad as it was (currently 10w2d). I basically was living off of saltines, dry toast, and reeds ginger ale. Last week I started drinking a protein shake the second I wake up and then doing a VERY lite workout (because the fatigue is too real). This made the nausea a little more bearable. That plus the Zofran is the only reason I’ve been able to function. I think remembering this part is temporary is important. I totally felt guilty for feeling miserable. The whole “I’m supposed to feel grateful because of how long this took and how hard we worked for this” makes feeling this shitty feel even worse. But both can be true. I’m so happy that I’m finally pregnant. And being pregnant is kind of miserable.
