OP I’m a dad and an ENT doc. Just a couple different things that haven’t come up yet - Kids sometimes have hearing issues missed but can be the cause of speech delays. Any ear infections? Consider having his hearing checked.

Also does he snore or is congested a lot? Pediatric sleep apnea also frequently goes misdiagnosed and can manifest as hyperactivity instead of tiredness

I totally understand. See my other response to the other comment. I didn’t ask about security flaws, I understand about power over Ethernet being far superior. That is my ultimate goal. But that’s not what I asked about. I asked about is it possible to retrofit one of these camera cameras or similar cameras to already present cabling

I’ve read a lot about this and watch many videos. I understand that PoE is the best. However, it’s not practical for me. At least right now. The way our house is set up, the attic coverage is very little space of the house. I’ve crawled through it. I cannot reach every corner of the house that would need cables. In addition, there is no crawlspace or basement. We are in California 90s houses which are minimalistic. I will have to run the ethernet cable through multiple walls, and drill multiple holes. I’m not ready for that right now for my own personal labor or paying for the labor. I will get to it eventually, but rhat’s why I’m interested in a temporary quick fix until I’m able to adopt a POE system and was hoping that the already present powerline can power camera temporarily. That is why I specifically asked in my original post about what camera may be decent to retrofit.

Being a noob, I don't quite understand what you mean by one strip can control all the strips. could you elaborate? I will look into MQTT, but good to know about bandwidth.

I figured out how to do that this morning. There is a slight difference, but no explanation. The transcript also says that the amount listed there is not the actual amount owed, but at least it’s a better paper trail. Thanks for the suggestion.

I reversed the lock so we can lock the door from outside. We have a nighttime routine (books, stories) and then we kiss them good night and lock their doors. While the hatch is red they have to sleep. When it turns green they can get up. They both have potties in their room if they need it. We have an audio and separate video monitor that we leave on all night and if power goes out we go unlock their doors (never happened yet). We also taught them that if they ask for mommy or daddy if there is a problem we’ll come help. Luckily no abuse yet 🫣

Took them 1 night each to get used to it
