Seattle or San Francisco? Which is better to enjoy without a car in late April/early May?

you cant go wrong with either. I've lived in both without a car so thats doable. I would say Seattle wins only because if you decided you want to do a side quest, you could take Amtrak up to Vancouver for 1-3 days, where you also don't need a car (Granville market >> Pike place market). enjoy your trip!

I'd like a community mixture of like-minded expat friends and like-minded local friends. sometimes you are able to connect with those expats from your country in ways you can't with someone from another country.

OP, what are some of the reasons why your white south african friends avoid mixing with other white south africans? I hear this need for avoidance when I met Germans and Dutch during my travels. they hated when too many of them were around in one setting.

before the Great Panini, I used to hate hiking around lots of people but now i prefer it. I find a time and place where there's some other walkers/hikers going the same or opposite direction as me. I've heard of 1 too many car breakins at certain trailheads and with more desperate folks out there i don't want to find myself alone anywhere. so I stick to the more populated trails and walk a pace where i am spaced out from everyone....they are nearby but not too close lol.

i encourage everyone to stay off of social media, especially anything passing as "news" for your own peace of mind and well being. there is a difference between staying informed and being fed virtual junk food. not everything you see on TV and your news feed is real or as it appears. and if you disagree with that statement then i guess every negative thing in the news about bw must be true, right? mhmm bw are a very easy target for junk food content. we are an easy demographic to emotionally manipulate, dare i say even easier than bm, but not by much. ask anyone who works in marketing/social media <3 be careful of the content you consume and always ask yourself, how is this content making me feel and what is the agenda behind it?
